Chapter 224 – Perfectly natural response

Lydia and Pete were still being shown around by Theo and Eve. After being asked by Lydia to see a kindergarten, the cat-couple guided them to a nearby park that had one attached to it. Seeing it and spending some time there, the woman from Earth was impressed by how nice it looked and how well the kids were cared for.

"Is your baby sister also going to be a monster in terms of magic power?" Back on the beach with the girls and Kel, the dragon eyed Sari again. "Steph's already on a level where she could be a match for me if she knew what she was doing, which she doesn't, and we don't even have to talk about Sophia in that regard."

"Kind of wild being called a monster by a literal dragon." The tiger wasn't sure how to feel about that.

"What's that supposed to mean?" He didn't appreciate that.

"I'm not even going to humor that." Sophia just rolled her eyes.

"Fair enough." There was little he could say.

"Anyway, everyone I call family and close friends will never have to worry about not having enough magic, so my dear Sari will be able to beat you up with ease by the age of four, in case she wants to take her time."

"I'm not sure if I'm okay with being beaten up by a little kid…"

"You're also not okay with being beaten by a little bird, but such is life." The blonde reacted with a slight smirk. "You better train hard the next few years to prevent that~."

"There's literally no way I'd ever be able to beat your four-year-old sister." He lightly moved his eye to glance at the baby before focusing on Sophia again.

"Scared of a little kid?" The blonde smirked at him.

"I'm concerned about what you'd do to me if I were to hurt your toddler sister, so I couldn't even try to fight her at that age."

"Ah."

"He got you there." Maya could follow his line of thought there.

"I've only known you for a little while, but earlier, you already threatened to send Blu after me if I scared the little one, and I know you don't mess around."

"When it comes to kids." The cat-girl let out a small chuckle. "Otherwise, she's a big fan of messing around."

"Aren't we all?" Steph had no idea why she was singling her out.

"Not wrong."

"Gah~!" Sari thought so, too.

"By the way, now that I've got a hold of you, I'm not sure if I forgot or we never talked about it, but do I have any size restrictions on my ocean?" Kel changed the topic as he didn't feel like getting beaten up anytime soon.

"The only restriction is your imagination and magic power." Sophia smiled at him. "Your ocean can be as big as those will carry you."

"Aren't you worried that your entire domain will turn into an ocean?" The dragon had the feeling that she may not have thought that through. "Even more so because I heard that Steph and her fox are also working on their own."

"A frozen ocean~." The dog-girl gave him a thumbs-up.

"That would indeed be a problem." The tiger nodded a few times. "If my domain were finite, that is. Luckily, it literally goes on forever."

"Just how overpowered are you?!" Kel couldn't believe her.

"Not nearly as much as I'd like to." She shrugged in return.

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

"Brr!" Maya, for some reason, briefly shuddered after hearing that.

"Well, not being limited sure is something." The dragon got back on track. "Almost overwhelming, even. However, it's also a great opportunity to try out new things and experiment, so I'm definitely grateful for the chance. This will become quite the interesting ocean to please the overpowered striped owner of this place."

"I'm looking forward to it~." Sophia liked the sound of that. "In fact, the more you do and the more my domain gets filled with life, the more overpowered I'll become! So, please go all out!" She smirked at him. "So will you, as, again, the more active you are with magic inside my domain, the faster your authority will grow."

"Which, to be perfectly honest, is a much bigger incentive to me."

"I am SHOCKED that a dragon, who literally ate magic stones to get more power and permanently altered his body, prefers growing even stronger over being creative." The tiger rolled her eyes in response.

"Okay, good point." Kel had nothing to say in his defense. "Though, to be fair, I do enjoy being creative at the end of the day, so this is a double win for me."

"You love to hear it!"

"If possible, I'd like to order some things that usually go into oceans. Corals, as well as other plant life, would be nice. Various types of fish, as well." The dragon has some wishes for his project. "You mentioned going there soon, right?"

"That's the plan, yes." The blonde nodded. "Currently, there's a bit of a distraction going on, but we'll head over to the ocean soon, and we'll get you some decoration."

"Great."

"Speaking of decorations, do you mind if I add some islands to your ocean?" Sophia wanted to be involved in his biome a little. "I was planning on a little tropical island resort project."

"Right, there's also the lagoon thing I planned!" Hearing that, Maya energetically clapped her hands. "I could actually use a part of this beach as a start and add some land."

"I absolutely don't care about the land parts, so you can go completely wild there." He briefly glanced at the cat-girl before moving his eye towards Sophia again. "It's your place, so you can do whatever you want, wherever you want. However, I recommend making them not too far from the shore. The further you go on the open sea, the rougher the water becomes because I'm speedrunning its generation, so it's kind of violent out in the open, and the waves there could easily swallow an island or two."

"That's a great and very important tip. Thank you very much!" The tiger smiled at him. "I feel like there's a high chance I would've not noticed that when making the island!"

"Maybe I should've stayed silent, huh? For the funny."

"Nuh-uh!" Sophia shook her head. "We have enough tricksters in this group already!"

"You can never have enough of those." Steph disagreed with her.

"Gah~!" While they were bickering, Sari stretched out her arms towards the dragon again.

"What does she want?" He sounded a little confused.

"She probably wants to pet you." Sophia took a guess at her reaction.

"Da!"

"I'm a dragon, you know?" Kel paused for a moment. "You don't pet dragons."

"If you want to pet something, you want to pet something." The blonde didn't share his opinion on the matter.

"Absolutely!" Neither did the dog-girl. "In fact, wanting to pet a dragon is a perfectly natural and expected response upon seeing one. Especially if you're a little baby."

"How do you feel about that claim?" Noticing that she twitched a couple of times while listening to them, Chloe looked at Maya while asking her question.

"I'm not going to say a thing here." She decided that it was better to stay silent. "Mostly because I don't even know where to start."

"Fair enough." The fox-girl couldn't blame her for that.

"Anyway, up we go!" Having decided that touching the dragon was agreed on, Sophia lifted the baby up from the sand and put her in her arms before walking over to Kel's massive head.

"Yah~!" The closer they got, the more excited Sari became. Once the two were close enough, she stretched her arms as far as she could and touched the side of his head without any hesitation. "Heh!" The moment she felt his cold scales, Sari let out a satisfied giggle.

"Our sisters here really are on a different level, huh?" Chloe reacted with a slight chuckle as she watched them.

"That's certainly the case." As it could be interpreted in various ways, the cat-girl easily agreed with her.

"All of you are something else." While making sure not to move too much, Kel glanced at Maya specifically. "Mira aside, you all are the first group of people that didn't need new pants after running into me." He paused for a moment. "In a best-case scenario, that is."

"Well, uhh… I was pretty shocked when Sophia first told me about befriending a massive dragon, so…" The cat-girl lightly scratched her cheek. "But, she also knows two overseers, uses magic beyond comprehension, literally has her own world, among many other things, so that wears your common sense down a little bit. No matter how hard one tries to preserve it."

"Or doesn't try." Chloe was having a playful day.

"Hey!"

"Exactly what I was saying." Kel didn't take the weak excuse."

"…" Maya let out a small grumble. "At least admit that the sisters are a step above most of us, so that I can sleep peacefully this night. I mean, I obviously love them, but they're definitely in a league of their own when it comes to that."

"No."

Afterward, they continued to bicker for a bit longer while Sari was happily petting Kel's scaly head with a gleeful smile on her lips.
