Royal Princess of Blood

Vol. 5 Chapter 24: Wrathful Goddess (Part 5)

Nira pulled up on the front of the cave. There were rocks and wooden logs and planks placed as barricades. And then there were people standing guard behind them, holding wooden spears with sharp stones at the tip, and swords, and a few proper spears. The guards stared curiously at the little girl standing straight as if there was not any danger at all. She looked absolutely suspicious.

"Who that he— hold it right there!"

Their warnings were insignificant to Nira. None of them could kill her, anyway.

"Who are you?!"

Then a familiar kid, who looked about the same age as her, pointed his finger at her. His eyes were wide, and he was trembling.

"It's h-her! She's the m-monster!"

"What?"

"Her? That little girl?"

They were dumbfounded that the monster the kid described was indeed a little girl. A normal looking human girl. They had never heard of a monster that could look so normal. Still, they kept their guard up, for they trusted the words of their own.

Nira scrutinized her enemies. On the surface, they didn't seem pretty remarkable. Individually, at least. Their formation, their defense, was pretty tight. Properly planned. A normal monster would be hard pressed getting through it. But Nira was not any normal monster.

After observing the enemy, and making her plan of attack, both her hands instantaneously turned into grotesque claws. The enemies flinched at the sudden sight.

"Oh shit she is!"

Nira turned into a fog and threw herself towards the enemy, flying over the barrier.

"What the hell?!"

The enemies were confused and were clueless on how to respond to her strange form. Once Nira got close to one, a young man swung his sword at her fog. But as the sword had no magic imbued in it whatsoever, it merely went through the fog, like swinging a blade through air. While the man fell into confusion, Nira turned back into human form and thrusted her claws into the man's chest. He didn't have any tough armor on him, so it was pretty easy for her claws to terminate him.

"No!" one of the man's friends exclaimed. He swung his sword at Nira.

The little girl turned into a fog, evading the man's attack, before clawing down at his arm. With an agonizing cry, he dropped his sword, his arm bleeding. Just before Nira was about to deliver the killing blow, she sensed someone else coming at her. She stepped aside to evade, then quickly turned into a fog.

But then a man swung his magic coated blade at her. The moment the blade hit her fog, she rattled and turned back into a human, a cut on her shoulder. She charged towards the man, and she met the blade with one hand. She clenched the blade, holding it in place, and thrust her claws into the man's abdomen.

"Ggh! Go for it!" the man shouted, despite receiving a fatal wound.

Another man moved in to attack, and so Nira had to move back. But then another stepped in and slashed her back. She moved aside and dodged, but then a spear struck her side. Nira frowned, they just outnumbered her. But this was something to be expected.

One slashed her back as she struck back, cutting a man's cheek open. And then a spear went to her chest, Nira looked and saw it was a kid who had done it. She stared at him for a moment, pondering. Nira bled as the weapons were pulled out of her body.

She kneeled to the ground, and then she started healing, her flesh shifting.

"What the fuck? Her wounds."

It was then that Nira noticed the goddess's arrival. The goddess swiftly struck down a couple of enemies, stabbing them in the throat. From the looks of it, she was not using any form of magic, as she had said previously. She dodged and killed her enemies, always aiming at their softest spots — thus, mostly on the neck.

"We have another one here!"

"She's fast! Help—" the goddess swooped in and cut his neck. He grasped the open, gushing wound as he slowly knelt to the ground.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

The goddess evaded all attacks and killed without a shred of hesitation. A couple of children charged towards her, but she casually evaded them before stabbing them in the chest. Children were less sturdy than adults, perhaps that was why she was less choosy on where to strike.

Where did the goddess obtain that kind of will? To act without hesitation.

Nira wished she had that level of willpower.

Before the others could move in to engage the goddess, Nira moved in to strike the enemies around her. Her role here was a vanguard, one who would garner the enemies' attention and avert as many enemies away from the goddess as possible.

She turned into a fog towards one opponent. But then she was touched by the magically coated blade, and she reverted back to a human. She lunged towards her opponent and slashed the man's arm before stabbing his heart. She then opened her mouth and bit into the neck, sucking in the blood. With this many enemies, she might need additional strength. Seeing how she drank their friend's blood, the ones who saw her were pretty disturbed.

More and more enemies engaged Nira, as the goddess engaged from the flanks. Nira was getting wounded, but would heal immediately. The smell of blood immediately began filling the area, which honestly made Nira feel a bit feral. But she controlled it, and briefly drank some blood when she wanted to.

And then, Nira leaped over a kid that looked like her age and pinned him down.

She raised her arm, and she paused when she saw that terrified expression on the kid's face. Tears welled up in his eyes as he shook his head. He was powerless to escape. Nira had rarely interacted with other kids, ones that she could play along with. She tried it once, but she was worried that she would hurt them. There were some children that had the same curse as her, born in torment, but it was hard to find fun with them. Everything was mostly gloomy back home.

When she ran away from home, she found some friends at a random village that she found. She played with them, and it was fun. However, a few days later, she made a mistake. It was so fun playing, and she was being held back from leaving by her friends, so she forgot the time. And once the sun had set, her true nature was revealed. It terrified everyone, the villagers, the children. So she had no choice but to flee.

And now, a fellow child was before her. However, now it was different. They were enemies. And if she were to walk the goddess's path with her, then she must do what was required. She must not hesitate. Even if she had to kill a kid just like her.

She closed her eyes for a moment to gather every will she had. And then she brought down her claws, stabbing the kid in the chest. The kid completely stopped moving. Nira lowered her head and closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath.

I did it…

She slowly stood up and engaged more enemies. She killed an adult, then proceeded to face a kid. Nira clenched her fists and took the kid's life by stabbing her in the chest. And she proceeded to kill a couple more, her heart grew heavy as she did. But she hardened her resolve and her heart.

"Fall back! Regroup!" one enemy shouted.

Chio gathered together with the rest of the people in the cave, mainly women and the few children who couldn't fight. Her sleeping baby was in her hand, holding him gently. They could hear the screams and shouts of their friends at the entrance, and they could see what was being done to them. How they were murdered by two people.

Blood and bodies dropped. To think they wouldn't stand a chance against two people. Chio looked around to see her friends crying and others holding each other in fear. Were they going to die here? How will they end up? Would they become slaves once again? All manner of questions appeared in their minds, and Chio was not an exemption.

Chio looked down at her sleeping child. She held back her tears.

It was then the guards of the entrance began retreating further into the cave. Chio watched as they rushed back, but the two enemies kept on hunting them. They kept killing them relentlessly, even the young ones. It was a horrifying sight of monsters in human form.

They reached the cave's main chamber, and the guards lined up in formation. However, it was insignificant for the enemies. Chio breathed heavily as she watched with a horrified expression. One by one, she watched as the people she knew were being killed. By monstrous claws from a young child, or by the blades of a beautiful woman with white hair. It was unthinkable that they could commit such heinous acts.

They're the ones that killed Kinzo?

And they were people that they stood no chance against.

One died, a young man — he was someone that was a bit clumsy. How often he would drop some things that he was asked to bring. And he would of course end up being scolded. He was someone that you would certainly miss if gone. Today, he was slain by a little girl by her claws into his chest, then the little girl bit into his neck.

Next was a child approaching his mid-teens. He had a crush on one of the young girls, and it was quite adorable how he was so shy when talking. Even more so of attempting to confess his feelings, but failing to do so. He was a sweet child. But he was slain today by the young woman with white hair, thrusting her dagger into his throat. It was a heartbreaking sight to witness. A child who could have confessed his feelings to the person he loved, even if it took a couple of years more, at least the feeling was pure.

More of the guards moved back as they were being slain. More and more corpses filled the chamber, forming pools of blood. Chio couldn't bear watching the bloodbath anymore. It was too brutal. So heartless.

More deaths happened, and only a few guards remained.

The rest of the people started crying.

Chio suddenly ran forward. "Please stop!" She rushed towards the young woman with white hair.

"Chio, what are you doing?!"

"Get back!"

She ignored their calls. "Please stop. Have mercy! We give up! So please stop killing!"

Everyone paused, and the beautiful lady slowly turned her head towards Chio. At that same moment, due to his mother's shouting, the baby woke up and started crying.

"Goddess…?" The little girl monster called out with visible confusion.

The lady slowly stepped forward. "Mercy…? Very well. But throw your weapons away, and we'll stop killing you."

The guards looked at each. But Chio urged them to do what she said. "Please. We must save what remains."
