Seven Beautiful Goddesses Want Me, But I Just Want My Revenge

Chapter 126: Sneaking out... #19

Adrian arrived at Queen Alannah's private quarters, still pondering the cryptic words she had shared earlier during the tour. When he arrived at her chambers, two guards stationed outside the door bowed respectfully before letting him pass.

The door open, revealing a room bathed in the warm glow of candlelight. Inside, Queen Alannah sat near her vanity, her back to him, her reflection captured in the ornate mirror. She looked regal and serene, but the atmosphere was thick with unspoken tension.

"Adrian," she said without turning around. "Thank you for coming. I trust you're finding Zarpha to your liking?"

Adrian stepped further into the room, closing the door behind him. "It's been interesting, Your Majesty," he replied.

Alannah finally turned to face him, her piercing green eyes studying his face. "Interesting, yeah but…," she admitted then paused, rising gracefully from her chair. "There are... complexities here, things I haven't shared with anyone. Even my most trusted advisors are not aware of these complexities.

Adrian's curiosity piqued. "I assumed as much. But what kind of secrets are we talking about?"

The queen smiled faintly, stepping closer. "Always direct, Adrian. It's one of the things I like about you." She paused, her eyes flicking down to the floor for a moment. "There are things happening in Zarpha that even I don't fully understand. I've kept my thoughts private, but now I feel it's appropriate to share one of my more personal secrets with you.

Adrian's brows furrowed. "Personal? What do you mean?"

Instead of answering, Queen Alannah stepped back and began to untie the clasps of her gown. With slow, deliberate movements, she slid the gown from her shoulders, letting it fall to the floor in a silken heap.

Adrian's eyes widened slightly, taking in the sight before him.

Her breasts were full and perfectly shaped, her nipples taut from the cool air. Her smooth, toned body was every bit as regal as the rest of her—her ass was round and firm as she turned, seemingly unbothered.

"Alannah?" Adrian began, unsure of what she was doing. Only when he had spoken did he remember he had called her by her name, without the title.

"Surprised?" Alannah asked, her voice soft yet teasing.

Adrian swallowed hard, his mind racing to keep up with what was happening. "I—uh... wasn't expecting this."

Alannah chuckled softly. "You always did enjoy the unexpected, Adrian." She took a step closer, her hand resting lightly on his chest. "Do you remember the last time you were in my chambers? When you gave me that... delightful massage?"

Adrian couldn't help but smile at the memory, his hands itching to repeat the experience. "I remember," he said, his voice low and filled with anticipation. "Would you like another one?"

Alannah shook her head, a sly grin playing on her lips. "Tempting," she teased, glancing over her shoulder at him. "But not today."

She bent down gracefully, picking up something from the corner of the room. When she stood back up, she held a simple, casual outfit in her hands—clothes meant for a commoner. "Today, I have something else in mind."

She slipped into the plain brown tunic and a pair of worn trousers, transforming herself from the queen of Zarpha into someone entirely unremarkable.

She pulled a rough-spun tunic over her head, followed by a plain cloak, its hood pulled low over her face. She looked nothing like the regal queen who had greeted him just moments before.

Adrian's confusion deepened. "What are you doing?"

She smiled again, this time with a playful glint in her eye. "If you're thinking that I'm going into town in disguise, you'd be right."

Adrian frowned, glancing at the door as if expecting someone to burst in. "Is that safe, Your Majesty? Won't people recognize you?"

Alannah laughed, a sound so light and free that it took him off guard. "I've done this a few times, Adrian. Don't worry—I know how to blend in. Besides, sometimes it's nice to step away from the throne and see the world as my people do."

The idea of the queen sneaking through the streets of Zarpha without anyone knowing was both thrilling and unnerving to Adrian. "Why take the risk?"

Alannah's expression shifted, becoming more serious. "It's because there are happenings in this kingdom that are not visible from the palace." Whispers that don't reach the ears of the queen. If I want to protect my people, I need to know what they're saying, what they're feeling. The only way to do that is to see it for myself."

He studied her for a moment, trying to gauge if there was more she wasn't saying. "I take it you want me to come along?"

"Of course," she said, her lips curving into a soft smile. "I trust you more than anyone else in the palace. And if things get... complicated, I know you can handle yourself. Besides, it'll be safer with you by my side." She paused, her eyes meeting his with a glint of mischief. "Unless you're afraid of a little adventure?"

Adrian chuckled, shaking his head. "I wouldn't say that."

"Good," Alannah said, her smile returning. She walked over to a large armoire in the corner of the room and pulled open a hidden panel, revealing a narrow passageway that stretched into the darkness. "Follow me," she said, her voice almost a whisper.

Adrian's heart raced as he followed her into the secret passage. The stone walls were cold, the air damp and heavy with the scent of earth. Alannah moved with ease, clearly familiar with the hidden route.

After a few moments, they emerged into a quiet alley behind the palace, the night sky stretching above them.

The streets of Zarpha were alive with activity, despite the late hour. Vendors hawked their wares, people bustled through the marketplace, and the distant sound of music floated on the air.

Adrian pulled his hood lower, glancing at Alannah, who blended in easily with the crowd. She moved, her eyes scanning the people around them.

"You've done this before," Adrian remarked, keeping close to her side.

"More times than you'd think," she replied with a wink. "Now, let's see what we can find out."
