Seven Beautiful Goddesses Want Me, But I Just Want My Revenge

Chapter 154: Number of kills?

Adrian and Medea exchanged a brief glance, and without a word, they executed a flawless maneuver. Adrian crouched low, his arms tensing as his chains coiled beneath him like a snake preparing to strike.

Medea took off running despite the chaos around them. As she reached Adrian, she placed a foot on his back, using him as a springboard to leap high into the air.

For a split second, she was airborne, her silhouette cutting through the sky before she came crashing down in the midst of the enemy army. She landed with a deafening thud, her sword already slicing through the closest soldiers as dark fire exploded outward from her like a shockwave.

Adrian, not one to be left behind, shot his chains deep into the ground, using them to propel himself into the air. With the force of his chains pulling him forward, he flew over the battlefield, landing a short distance from Medea, right in the center of a group of enemy soldiers.

The moment his boots hit the ground, Adrian spun, his chains whirling in a deadly circle around him. The dark fire-infused chains tore through the enemy ranks, obliterating anyone in their path.

Soldiers screamed as the chains cut through armor, flesh, and bone alike, their bodies collapsing in heaps around him.

Adrian's movements were a blur of power and precision, his sword flashing as he deflected incoming attacks. His chains lashed out with brutal efficiency, each swing dispatching multiple enemies at once.

One soldier lunged at him with a spear, but Adrian caught the weapon mid-air with his chain, yanking the man forward and slamming him into the ground with a sickening crunch.

Another came at him from the side with a heavy broadsword raised high, but Adrian was faster. He ducked under the swing and spun, his sword carving a deadly arc through the air. The dark fire ignited along the blade, slicing clean through the soldier's chest and sending him crumpling to the ground.

On the other side of the battlefield, Medea was a whirlwind of destruction. Her dark fire blazed around her, her sword moving with deadly precision as she cut down soldier after soldier.

She tore through the enemy with powerful, unyielding strikes. One soldier swung at her with a battle-axe, but she easily dodged, countering with a vicious upward slash that severed his arm before following through with a strike that cleaved his head clean off.

Medea leapt forward, her eyes locked on two soldiers charging toward her. With a flick of her wrist, she conjured dark fire into the shape of sharp daggers and hurled them with pinpoint accuracy. The daggers exploded on impact, incinerating the soldiers in a burst of flames.

Adrian, in the midst of his own battle, parried a strike from another captain, his chains wrapping around the man's arm and yanking him to the ground. Adrian followed up with a swift downward strike, his sword piercing through the captain's chest.

He glanced over at Medea, who was surrounded by the remains of her fallen enemies, her eyes blazing fiercely.

They fought like two parts of the same whole, their movements perfectly in sync even though they were yards apart. It was a dance of death, and the enemy was falling fast.

At one point, they found themselves back-to-back, breathing hard but still standing strong.

Adrian, his eyes scanning the battlefield for any remaining threats, took a moment to glance over his shoulder at Medea.

Her normally combed and shiny hair was now wild and tangled, clinging to her sweat-soaked forehead. Her determined expression, coupled with the fierce satisfaction of her kills, made her look both dangerous and undeniably alluring.

He couldn't help but think how attractive she looked in the heat of battle, though he'd never admit it aloud. Wiping away that fierce battle-driven look on her face and replacing it with something mischievous would make her downright seductive.

Medea, sensing his gaze, smirked without turning. "Are you drooling over me right now?" she asked, her tone teasing. "Seriously? In the middle of a fight?"

Adrian chuckled, shaking his head. "Come on. I wasn't drooling. Just doing a mental calculation of how many kills I've gotten."

Medea shot a quick glance his way, her smirk widening. "I'm sure I'm leading by a large margin," she quipped, as she unleashed another volley of dark fire daggers, each one exploding upon impact and taking down a handful of soldiers.

"On the contrary," Adrian replied, deflecting an incoming spear strike with his sword before slashing through his attacker's chest. "You're barely keeping up with my number."

"Keep dreaming," Medea retorted with a grin, slicing through another wave of soldiers.

The battle raged on, and soon, the enemy's numbers had dwindled significantly. Bodies littered the ground, and the few remaining soldiers hesitated to charge forward, their confidence shattered by the devastating power of Adrian and Medea's combined assault.

Just as they were about to finish off the last few enemies, a sudden tremor shook the ground beneath their feet.

Adrian and Medea froze, their weapons still drawn as they turned to face each other, confusion and concern flashing in their eyes.

"What's that?" Adrian muttered, his grip tightening on his sword.

Medea's gaze shifted toward the horizon, where the distant sound of rumbling grew louder, accompanied by the faint tremors beneath their feet. The ground seemed to vibrate with an eerie pulse, as if something massive was approaching.

Without another word, the two of them quickly scanned their surroundings, trying to pinpoint the source of the disturbance. The remaining soldiers seemed just as disoriented, glancing around in confusion as the tremors intensified.

Adrian and Medea exchanged a wary glance.

"That doesn't sound good," Adrian murmured, his eyes narrowing as he peered into the distance.

"No, it doesn't," Medea agreed, her instincts screaming that something far more dangerous was on the horizon.

The rumbling grew louder, the tremors more violent, as if the earth itself was trembling in fear of what was to come. Whatever it was, it was big—and it was heading straight for them.
