Seven Beautiful Goddesses Want Me, But I Just Want My Revenge

Chapter 218: Awakened...

The clearing went still as all eyes turned to Selene. Crix's masked face tilted slightly as if in disbelief, while Roxie stared at her with wide eyes.

"I thought you said she was the easy one," Crix said slowly, his voice tinged with unease.

"She couldn't do this when we fought her," Roxie muttered, his confidence replaced by confusion. His glowing orb flickered as he tightened his grip on it.

Selene stood calmly, brushing dirt from her cloak. Her silver eyes gleamed with an intensity none of them had seen before.

"Care to try again?" she challenged.

Roxie's grin returned, though it was forced. "Oh, we'll try again," he said, his orb growing brighter. "And this time, you won't get the jump on us."

Selene tilted her head, her detached expression unchanging. "Make your move. I won't be as gentle this time."

As the assassins got ready to attack, the tension in the clearing grew thick, like a storm about to break.

Saria dragged herself upright, her scythes digging into the ground as leverage. Her face twisted in fury, and she glared at Selene with narrowed eyes. "You're going to regret that," she spat, brushing dirt from her shoulder.

Selene tilted her head slightly, her expression detached, her silver eyes gleaming with faint amusement. "Three against one?" she said, her voice as cool as a winter breeze. "That doesn't look fair."

Saria barked a laugh, stepping forward. "Scared already after stirring trouble?" She turned to Crix and Roxie, who stood warily behind her. "You know what? Leave her to me."

"You sure?" Crix asked, tilting his masked face toward her. "She seems... different."

"She got lucky because I wasn't prepared," Saria snapped, her gaze never leaving Selene. "I'll handle this."

Selene watched the exchange silently, her fingers twitching as if testing a newfound energy coursing through her veins. She glanced at her hands, replaying the moment she had sent Saria flying like a leaf in a storm.

I had no idea I could do that. Since when? Her thoughts raced, but her expression remained calm. My hands... my body... they're tingling with energy I don't understand, as though they know what they're doing and want to do it.

Saria stalked toward her, her scythes spinning in a fluid motion. The glow of the runes etched across their surfaces pulsed in rhythm with her steps. "You had your moment," she said coldly. "Now it's my turn."

Selene flexed her fingers, feeling the energy buzz through her like a live wire. She's fast, and those scythes give her reach. I'll need to close the gap. With her dagger held loosely at her side, she took a step forward.

The way she moved was unsettlingly slow but calculated like she knew what she was doing.

Saria lunged, her scythes carving twin arcs of crackling energy toward Selene. Time seemed to slow as Selene's senses sharpened, her body reacting with a precision she didn't fully comprehend.

She sidestepped the first scythe, ducking under the second, and lashed out with a lightning-quick kick to Saria's midsection. The blow connected with a solid thud, sending the assassin stumbling back.

"Damn it," Saria growled, regaining her footing. Her eyes burned with fury as she launched into a flurry of attacks, her scythes slicing through the air in deadly patterns. Selene weaved through the assault with smooth and fluid movements

I'm faster than her, Selene realized, her mind analyzing the assassin's attacks with eerie clarity. She's strong, but she relies too much on her weapons. If I can disarm her, she's done.

Selene darted inside Saria's guard, her hand lashing out to grab the wrist of the scythe-wielding arm. With a sharp twist, she forced Saria to drop the weapon.

The assassin's eyes widened in shock, but she quickly retaliated with a vicious punch that grazed Selene's jaw.

The force of the blow staggered Selene slightly, but she recovered with surprising ease. "Is that all?" she asked, her tone devoid of emotion, as though mocking Saria's effort.

"You arrogant—" Saria swung her remaining scythe in a wide arc, aiming for Selene's throat.

Selene ducked, spinning behind her opponent in one fluid motion. Her dagger flashed, slicing through the strap holding Saria's remaining scythe. The weapon clattered to the ground, leaving the assassin unarmed.

Saria's breathing grew ragged, her frustration evident. "What the hell are you?" she snarled, circling Selene like a predator forced to reassess its prey.

Selene didn't reply. Instead, she shifted her stance, her body poised like a coiled spring. I don't know what I've become, but I know I'm stronger than you.

Saria lunged, throwing a barrage of punches and kicks in an attempt to overwhelm Selene. The priestess deflected each strike with mechanical precision, her dagger slashing out to nick Saria's arm and leg.

The assassin hissed in pain, stumbling back.

From the sidelines, Crix and Roxie exchanged uneasy glances. "She's toying with Saria," Crix muttered. "This isn't normal."

"No kidding," Roxie replied, his glowing orb spinning faster in his hand. "Maybe we should—"

"I've got this!" Saria snapped sharply as she glared at them. "Stay out of it!"

Selene watched the exchange with a faint smirk. "You sure you don't want their help?" she asked, her tone icy. "You're not doing so well."

Saria's face flushed with anger, and she charged again, her fists flying. Selene met her head-on, their movements blurring as they clashed. Saria's strength and speed were formidable, but Selene's newfound agility and precision kept her a step ahead.

The fight reached a fever pitch, each strike from Saria met with a counter that left her more battered and bruised. Selene's dagger found its mark repeatedly, slicing shallow cuts across Saria's arms and legs.

Finally, Selene saw her opening.

Saria overextended on a wild swing, and Selene slipped inside her guard, driving her knee into the assassin's stomach. Saria gasped, doubling over, and Selene followed up with an elbow to the back of her head, sending her sprawling to the ground.

Selene stepped back, her breathing steady as she watched Saria struggle to rise. "You're done," she said coldly.

But before she could finish the fight, Crix and Roxie stepped forward.

"That's enough," Crix said in a low and firm voice.
