Adrian walked into his chambers quietly, feeling the heaviness of the night weigh on him. The fear he had felt, thinking Zarpha was already under attack, he was glad it was something else.
Not that he wanted the king dead though. But at the very least, he was glad that Zarpha was safe… at least for now.
His mind then drifted to something else… someone else.
The encounter with Alannah remained in his mind, her words, her touch, and the kiss they had shared replaying like a memory he couldn't quite forget.
The room was dimly lit, a single lantern casting a warm glow over the ornate furniture and thick rugs that muffled his footsteps.
As he closed the door behind him, he felt a presence before he saw her.
"Long night?" Lilith's voice drawled from the corner of the room, smooth and teasing.
She stepped into the light, her crimson eyes gleaming mischievously. She was leaning against the wall dressed in nothing but a translucent nightwear. The material was light, so light that he could see every curve of her body--her breasts, her hips and ass--and the dark material of her pantie underneath.
Adrian blinked, his eyes widening as he took in the sight.
His pulse quickened, his gaze raking over her body before meeting hers.
Lilith smirked, her eyes hooded with desire.
She pushed herself away from the wall and sauntered over to him, her hips swaying seductively.
Adrian swallowed, his breath catching as she stopped in front of him.
The warmth of her body seeped through his clothing, her scent intoxicating.
She trailed a finger down his chest, her crimson eyes holding his captive.
"Do you like what you see, hero?" she purred, her voice sending a shiver down his spine.
"I... I..." Adrian fumbled with his words, knowing that look and voice all too well. "Lilith," he called. "What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for you, obviously. Someone has to keep an eye on you, husband," she said, the title rolling off her tongue with a mix of amusement and something sharper.
Adrian sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I'm not in the mood for games tonight."
"Oh, I noticed," she said, circling him slowly. Her fingers brushed against his shoulder as she passed, her touch deliberate. "You're all moody and brooding. Something about moonlit gardens and grieving queens does that to a man."
Adrian turned to face her, his jaw tightening. "What are you talking about?"
She stopped in front of him, tilting her head as if studying him. "I'm talking about you, Champion. Out there, comforting a freshly widowed queen, whispering promises in the dark, and—" She leaned closer, her voice dropping to a sultry murmur. "—kissing her."
He stiffened, his stomach churning.
She was close enough that he could feel her breath on his skin, her body mere inches from his.
His heart skipped a beat, but he kept his expression neutral. "Were you spying on me?"
Lilith chuckled, her crimson eyes glinting with amusement. "I didn't have to. Your face says it all. Besides, do you think any of us didn't notice the way she looks at you? The way you look at her?"
Adrian sighed, stepping past her toward the bed. "It's not what you think."
"Isn't it?" she asked, following him with feline grace. "You've always had a soft spot for damsels in distress. Though I have to admit," she added with a sly grin, "a queen in mourning is a new one."
He turned to her, his patience fraying. "Lilith, drop it."
But she didn't. Instead, she closed the distance between them, her fingers trailing up his arm as she gazed up at him with a look that was equal parts teasing and serious. "You're too good, Adrian. Too noble. You're going to get yourself tangled in something messy."
He caught her hand, stilling her movements. "Why does it matter to you?"
Her smirk faltered for a brief moment, replaced by something softer. "Because you're mine," she said simply, her voice low. The possessiveness in her tone was unmistakable, but there was something else beneath it—something vulnerable.
Adrian blinked, caught off guard. "Lilith…"
She stepped closer, her body brushing against his. "I don't like sharing, Adrian. Especially not with queens who think they can steal you away with their pretty tears and moonlit walks."
He opened his mouth to respond, but she silenced him with a finger to his lips. "Shh," she murmured, her crimson eyes darkening with desire. "I don't want to fight."
"Then what do you want, Lilith?" he asked, his tone low and guarded.
"Oh, many things, Champion. But right now, I just need you."
"Need me?" he echoed, his pulse quickening as her hand slid to his chest.
She nodded, her voice dropping to a husky whisper. "I'm feeling… weak. All that fighting, all that power—it drains me. I need to recharge."
Her meaning was clear, and Adrian felt a familiar heat stir within him. "Lilith…"
She smiled, her hands slipping under his tunic to rest against his bare skin. "Don't overthink it, Champion. Just let me take care of you… and you can take care of me."
Her lips found his, claiming him with a fierceness that left no room for hesitation Adrian groaned, wanting to resist her but when Lilith was in her 'mood', there was no resisting.
Adrian responded instinctively, his hands moving to her waist as he gave in to the desire she had stoked within him.
His touch sent a shiver through her body, and she arched against him, her breasts pressing against his chest.
The kiss was hungry and urgent, full of need and desire.
Lilith pressed herself against him more, her body molding to his.
He broke the kiss, his breathing ragged as he stared down at her.
Lilith's eyes were half-lidded, her lips curved in a seductive smile. "Do you want me, Champion?"
"Yes," he replied without hesitation, his voice hoarse.
Her fingers trailed up his chest, her touch leaving a trail of heat in their wake. "Then have me," she purred.
