"Black Flask, I won't waste much of your time. But I would like to first of all thank you for everything."
Before Kailen could muse over what she had just said and understand what she meant by that, as if she had just read his mind, she explained.
"I'm the one who recommended you to be an honorary member of the Long Hai training Hall, and after that, the higher ups have been praising me for my foresight. The Long Hai training Hall has received the enrollment of various youngsters in its ranks thanks to your connection to the Training Hall.
Apart from that, my foresight concerning people has been reevaluated in the organisation, and I've been promoted to the diamond rank in the organisation, which comes with its own special benefits. It's all thanks to you."
Kailen now understood her.
He mused to himself.
"Because she made the right decision about me by recommending me to become an honorary member of the training hall, she got to ride on my coattails… and has been promoted to the diamond rank."
"But that doesn't explain why she's here, and her nervousness. Anyway, let's listen to what she has to say."
Kailen decided.
"Let's not sweat the small stuff, senior," he replied her with an amiable smile.
Elder Calma Smith simply nodded.
She decided it was time she mentioned her reason for coming here.
"The actual reason why I am here is because the Long Hai training Hall is having a bit of a problem with another training hall — the Kazuka training Hall."
Kailen listened carefully as she spoke.
Elder Calma, on noticing she had his attention, continued, "Over the past centuries, the two training halls have been in an extremely amiable relationship. Until recently, something extremely untoward happened."
"Two promising youngsters, a son and a daughter of a high ranking official of the Long Hai and Kazuka training Hall respectively — Gold officials of the training halls — decided to enter into some sort of relationship."
"In fact, the two training halls were in full support of their relationship, because a possible union between the two training halls would have further solidified the unity between the two training halls."
"But as life would have it, things didn't go as planned. One thing led to another, and the two kids got into a huge fight that led to both of them to accumulate extremely serious injuries."
"The moment this occurred, the two high ranking officials of the two training halls decided to go full battle mode against one another.
Fortunately, one of the high ranking officials of the Kazuka training Hall intervened before things got out of hand. Because the damage their clash would have done to the reputation and the unity of the two training halls would have been extremely catastrophic, as this unity has caused both training halls to get to where it has gotten to today."
"The powerhouse who intervened suggested that we find a way to let the kids wake up, so that what caused the altercation between them would be sourced out from their narrations, and the two youngsters would be guided to resolve their issue on their own, so that the relationship between the two training halls would not be dragged into the issues of the youngsters."
Kailen listened as she spoke.
He couldn't help but sigh deeply and muse inwardly to himself as he listened.
"Seriously, what sort of cliché is this? What she's saying seems like something picked straight out of a novel. Anyway, it happened in real life, so I guess it's not a cliché."
Calma paused, took a sip of the expensive wine in her hand, and continued from where she left off.
"That's where there was an issue. Extremely skilled alchemists tried to wake up the two kids, made healing elixirs and whatever could help them to wake up, but it didn't work. It was as if there was something preventing them from waking up. According to one of the alchemists, a rank 2 alchemist with a purity level of 89 percent, the moment the elixirs are fed to the bloodstream of the kids, it's as if there's something that consumed the elixirs and turned it into some sort of poison, which in turn would spread through the bloodstream of the kids and make their condition worse."
"Are you saying…" Kailen couldn't help but insinuate.
However, before he could even land, she already knew his train of thought.
"Yes, the kids may have not fought against each other in the first place as the CCTV footage indicated. A Black Flask assassin, or someone with the poison affinity, may have been hired to orchestrate the whole thing," she said — what Kailen was literally insinuating.
"They did this to cause an altercation between the two training halls."
Kailen added, "And the best way to confirm this is to wake up the two youngsters, and that's where I come in, because of my abilities."
She nodded. "Exactly. You have a track record of not only healing Arnold, but you also miraculously healed Miranda Morrison's father. Plus, if there's anyone with extreme specialty in poisons, it's you, since you are a Black Flask Alchemist."
Kailen nodded. What she said made a lot of sense.
But what was in it for him?
As if she was reading his mind, she added, "If you manage to help the Long Hai and Kazuka training Hall to solve this predicament, not only will you be made a diamond ranked member of the Long Hai training Hall, you will also be made a diamond ranked member of the Kazuka training Hall."
Kailen's eyes gleamed.
He mused inwardly.
"This is not a bad offer. But considering the kind of crisis I'll be helping them with, a diamond ranked member of both training halls is too small. I need to aim higher. If I manage to become a gold ranked member of both training halls, I think I can leverage their complete support in the near future when I have to deal with the Crown Prince and the royal family."
Kailen said, "I can't help you, senior, I'm sorry. Considering what I will be helping your training halls deal with, a diamond membership is too small for me."
Calma was surprised.
This kid was something else.
He didn't even flinch when she mentioned a diamond ranked membership of not only the Long Hai training Hall, but the Kazuka training Hall.
Being a diamond ranked member of two training halls was not something simple.
The kind of benefits one could enjoy was literally over the top.
She herself was a diamond ranked member of the Long Hai training Hall, and she knew the benefits she enjoyed.
If she was able to enjoy the same benefits from another training hall, wouldn't that be extremely ridiculous?
Yet this kid was saying the benefits were small.
By his statement… he wanted to be made a fucking gold member of both training halls?
The hell was wrong with this fellow?
Zarek, Caelthas, Nick and Shawn — the business-oriented people — standing a few distances away from Kailen and engaged in their own conversations with the others, could overhear the conversation between Kailen and the Long Hai training Hall elder.
Even they couldn't help but be shocked at this guy's ridiculousness.
He really wanted to bargain after these benefits?
As for Kailen, he had figured out why she had been nervous when she approached him, from their conversation- it was because she was didn't know whether Kailen would accept the offer to help them, and considering what was at stake if she didn't , it was normal for her to be nervous.
Kailen was about to excuse the Elder of the Long Hai training Hall when she sighed and said, "Wait, I will let the higher ups know as soon as possible. Let me make a call in a second and get back to you."
"Alright." Kailen smiled.
They had more to lose than he did here.
So he knew they'd make him a gold member.
Silently, he waited for the outcome.
