Four hours later, Yang Yi woke up. When he opened his eyes, he saw light. “My vision’s back!” Yang Yi’s spirits lifted instantly. Because he now had only one eye, his field of view was narrower, but it didn’t affect daily life much. He tried closing his right eye, lifted the eyepatch, and switched to his left. At once, the entire world lost its color — yet became extraordinarily clear. If he wanted, he could even count the number of his own eyebrows without needing a mirror! He walked out of the captain’s cabin. It was still daytime, with about two hours of sunlight left. But in truth, light or ✧ NоvеIight ✧ (Original source) darkness didn’t matter to his left eye. Those “three eyes” didn’t seem to see through light reception at all. In his left eye, sunlight wasn’t blinding — it was merely a glowing orb hanging in the sky. Yang Yi took out the crystal ball from his stomach pouch and used its reflection to inspect his left eye with his right. He saw three gel-like eyeballs packed together, each with an almond-sized yellow spot at the center — apparently pupils. They rotated slowly, adjusting their positions as needed. After testing it once, Yang Yi quickly switched back to his right eye and covered the left again. The colorful world was far more comfortable. When using the left eye, the world always felt lifeless and gray to him. “Pretty, huh? These monster eyes...” He recalled Suna’s first reaction upon seeing them. That woman’s sense of aesthetics must be completely warped. No normal creature would ever have such eyes! Only Suna could find them beautiful! As for Yang Yi, he only found them grotesque — and disgusting. “The time limit should be around ten minutes... to be safe, each use of the Third Eye shouldn’t exceed that.” He sent a message to Suna. “Suna, I’m awake. My vision’s back.I’m heading to the island to look for the corpse of a Giant Firefloss Spider.I need to upgrade the Nyxstar — dragging this big sailboat around is seriously slowing it down.” Suna didn’t reply — she was probably still busy dissecting. He checked her sanity level — 62, still within the safe range. She’d see the message when she had time. With about two hours of daylight left, Yang Yi decided to make the most of it and gather materials to upgrade the Nyxstar to Level 3 tonight. He didn’t plan to go back to the spider nest — he had already taken samples from the Giant Firefloss Spider corpses there. Even if any remained, they’d likely be in side tunnels, hard to find. And besides, the nest was far — not worth the trip now. He decided to search the nearby forest instead, looking for spider corpses and collecting Firefloss Spider hairs to make sweaters later. After searching for over an hour, he still hadn’t found any Giant Firefloss Spider corpses. But just as he was about to give up and head back, he spotted one on the return path. “Heh! Taking a different route back really paid off!” Yang Yi grinned ear to ear and sprinted toward the Nyxstar. When he climbed aboard, daylight still lingered. He began transferring supplies from the large sailboat (Hu Wei’s ship — not yet dismantled). Once he had enough materials for a Level 3 upgrade, he opened the log and hit “Confirm.” A pale green light surged from the Nyxstar as countless skeletal arms intertwined over the hull, crawling across it to cover the deck like dense armor plating. This evolution didn’t change the ship’s size, but its appearance transformed completely. The skull figurehead at the bow ignited with soul-fire, bound in place by dozens of skeletal hands gripping it tight — immobile except for the jaw, which could open and close. [Upgrade complete. The Nyxstar is now a Level 3 ship. Check the Ship Interface for details.] Yang Yi immediately opened the interface. 【Nyxstar – Level 3】Durability: 4500/4500Capacity: 12,000 unitsSpeed: 65 knots(Note: 500 durability from Bobbit Worm head.)Ship Skills:Nightmare: Poor sleep quality aboard; frequent nightmares; -75% energy recovery efficiency (affects captain only).Fisher’s Curse: Cannot catch normal fish; higher chance of fishing up abnormal objects.Astrology: Displays sea chart within a 150-nautical-mile radius via the crystal ball. Can set alerts that vibrate when other players appear.Scrying: Can search ship name or player name to locate that ship’s coordinates and view its image; limited to one target per day.Embrace of the Dead: The hull is shielded by countless skeletal arms, increasing durability. When durability drops below 2000, the ship will self-repair. The arms also attempt to grab intruders — though not very strongly.Description:“This ship has started growing bones. You sure you still want to upgrade it?” After reading the stats, Yang Yi broke into a wide smile. At last, the ship’s most criticized weakness was fixed — durability up to 4500! The look was a bit eerie, sure, but hey — it’s a ghost ship. A few moving bones on deck were nothing shocking! Give it time, and you just get used to it. After reviewing everything, Yang Yi dismantled Hu Wei’s sailboat, gaining another pile of resources. Heart pounding with excitement, he entered the cabin. Two new expansion slots had opened — time to finally build the cannons he’d been dreaming of! He had to max out his firepower. He immediately chose to construct a Combat Facility – Ancient War Room. Cost: Wood ×200, Iron ×10, Sulfur ×10. When the glow faded, a new room appeared on the starboard side — inside stood two cannons. Each war room could house two, one per side of the ship. After thinking it over, Yang Yi built another one for the port side — just in case enemies attacked from there. He stepped inside to inspect the cannon’s stats: 【Name: Waterlogged Cannon】Type: Ship Equipment (Relic)Quality: GoodDescription: This cannon was soaked in water. Its shells don’t explode, but they have longer range and a low chance to fire something strange. Range: 300 meters.Fixed equipment; cannot be removed. Reading it, Yang Yi couldn’t help but scoff:“Figures — anything waterlogged is never normal!” But what were those “strange things” it might shoot? He tested it a dozen times — nothing unusual happened, only shattered a few rocks along the shore. “So it’s basically a glorified catapult!” Yang Yi realized. After all, if the shells don’t explode, they’re just fancy stones. Then he noticed — expansion facilities could also be upgraded. To reach Level 4 ship status, all expansions needed to be at least Level 2 (except special ones like the Witch’s Lab). No upgrade option for the Witch’s Lab yet — unclear if it ever could. Without hesitation, Yang Yi upgraded the Ancient War Room to Level 2, spending:Wood ×100, Cloth ×400, Stone ×100, Iron ×40, Sulfur ×20 — just enough. A glow flashed — the room gained a moldy carpet that squelched underfoot, like it had just been fished out of the sea. The cannons’ surfaces were now etched with corroded metal patterns — Level 2 Waterlogged Cannons.【Name: Level 2 Waterlogged Cannon】Type: Ship Equipment (Relic)Quality: FineDescription: This cannon was soaked in water. Its shells don’t explode but have longer range and a certain chance to fire something strange. Range: 350 meters.Fixed equipment; cannot be removed. A range of 350 meters — much farther than standard cannons. A major advantage. He had considered building Glass Cannons before, but those were too costly — 100 crystals each and prone to cracking. Better left for later upgrades. After finishing, his remaining materials were:Wood ×535Cloth ×285Stone ×945Iron ×47Crystal ×14Sulfur ×25Seashell Coins ×1400 Hu Wei’s legacy — nearly all spent. The resource requirements for a Level 4 upgrade were now displayed:Wood ×4000Cloth ×2000Stone ×1000Iron ×500Crystal ×1000Sulfur ×500Ever-Growing Flesh ×1 Seeing the skyrocketing material demands, Yang Yi decided…to pretend he hadn’t seen them at all!
