Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 274: Quiet Departure

Under the night sky, the second day of survival.

The tranquility of the entire village was disrupted once again.

Dozens upon hundreds of figures, wielding various homemade weapons, charged out from the wooden houses' doors, chasing the giant wolf on the muddy street.

A bone-cutting knife flew by, brushing past Kane.

The gray Wolf Monarch turned around, showing a human-like mocking expression on its wolf face, shaking its rear playfully, and continued to flee towards the village outskirts.

This was already Kane's second night in this dungeon.

Ever since he disturbed the entire village last night, confirming his suspicions, he had decided to hassle the villagers well again tonight.

These people indeed behaved as Kane expected, with some enhancement under the bloody oppressive weather of the daytime.

But once night came, these enhancements disappeared, turning them into ordinary people.

So tonight, relying on his nimble physique, Kane continually harassed the villagers in the village.

Occasionally, he'd gather some supplies from one house, grab a cloth bundle from another, intentionally making loud noises.

At night, these villagers had physical abilities like ordinary people; catching up to Kane was about as likely as a pipe dream.

And teasing these villagers eased Kane's suppressed mood due to his constrained power.

Indeed, one's happiness is built upon another's suffering, and if that person is an enemy, it's even more delightful.

With a group of villagers in tow, Kane wandered in and around the village and forest in a large circle before leisurely returning to his shabby wooden cabin.

The cloth bundle he had always held in his mouth was thrown onto the food and drinking water pile in front of him.

Then, with a wolf shape transformation, Kane reverted to his human form.

Sitting on the ground, he picked up a piece of jerky nearby, tore open the packaging, and began chewing.

From under another wooden plank, he pulled out a somewhat damaged map.

He had taken it from the four-story small stone house in the village, no wonder; that house stood out among the wooden ones and clearly belonged to a wealthy family in the village.

Robbing the rich to distribute to the poor.

As for the owner of that stone house, the jerky in Kane's hand was his charitable donation.

From the map, the area wasn't astoundingly large.

It consisted of a central city and several towns and villages distributed around it.

Kane's current location was beside a relatively peripheral village.

Outside, the sky turned crimson; daylight had arrived.

Packing the supplies in a cloth bundle, he curled up in a corner, ready to sleep.

In daylight, these villagers were strengthened, only in the nighttime should he act.

Moreover, these villagers were merely mad, not dumb.

After Kane disturbed the villagers on the first night, they began setting traps in the village the following day.

However, the traps were somewhat crude; if Kane stepped into one, it would be disgraceful to his Hunter title.

But after a night of various harassment, Kane figured that today, those villagers would prepare more means to deal with him.

Therefore, Kane planned to rest for the morning, and once awake, he'd change his location; one shouldn't always exploit the same place.

A gust of cold wind blew through the cracks in the dilapidated wooden house.

Preparing to sleep, Kane couldn't help but shiver, rubbing his shoulders with his hands.

What's going on?

Wasn't yesterday a warm climate?

No longer human, eh?

Seeing me doing too well, wanting to increase the difficulty, is this how you treat a Trial Taker?

Kane couldn't help but mutter in his heart.

But since he was here, there was no choice but to endure silently.

Feeling the Magic Recovery within him, Kane pondered, decided to spend magic power to transform back into the Wolf Monarch form and curled up.

The thick fur on his body warded off the outside cold wind.

Phew, much more comfortable like this.

Choosing [Transform into Wolf Monarch] truly was the best decision I've made in this life.

...

Time had already moved into the afternoon.

Kane awoke from his sleep and shook his body.

He donned the backpack full of various supplies with difficulty onto his wolf back; these paws are really hard to use.

After shaking twice to confirm everything was fine, he squeezed out of the wooden house.

Come to think of it, Cotton Candy and Yoyo didn't seem to enter the dungeon with them.

Kane noticed upon entering the dungeon that the attached Cotton Candy disappeared, and Yoyo was probably screened out too.

Without such a soft bed, sleeping was indeed hard to bear.

He moved his wolf head around and quickly arrived near the village.

Watching the crazy villagers in filthy clothes tirelessly digging traps inside and outside the village.

Right, this is what normal people appear; they should properly thank me.

"Awooo~"

Addressing the villagers who were laboring hard, Kane howled vigorously.

Upon hearing the wolf's howl, the villagers grasped their weapons instantly, alert to their surroundings; after last night's ordeal, they were close to forming a conditioned reflex.

Immediately, they noticed Kane's giant figure standing bright not far away, continuously howling at them.

The villagers shook their weapons at Kane's direction, shouted and cursed angrily.

However, Kane couldn't understand their words, treating them as thanks.

Some of the more frantic villagers were already rushing over with their kitchen knives and pitchforks.

Kane waited for them in place for a while, then led these villagers to circle the village once or twice before disappearing into the nearby forest.

Leaving the villagers stomping and cursing on the spot.

However, Kane had already traversed the forest, advancing toward his predetermined target.

His act of teasing the villagers must have kept them on tenterhooks all night, guarded against his return.

And they'd dig holes more seriously, setting traps harder.

To help these crazy villagers work hard and restore their humanity, truly a painstaking effort.

There was a small town not far from the village; Kane planned to check it out.

After roughly understanding the habits of people in this place over the past two days, Kane was ready to locate his teammates first.

At notable spots on the village outskirts and forest, Kane had carved simple marks that only their team knew.

Telling them his simple movements and the danger in the village ahead.

After a few steps, he saw an earthen road stretching into the distance.

On either side of the road, quite a few collapsed carts could be seen, with some already whitened skeletons scattered all around.

Not everyone went mad; only those who did survived.
