Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 283: A Huge Crisis

Day 28 of survival.

Only two days left until the trial completion of 30 days, victory is within reach.

Kane and his team are about to complete a circuit around the entire map.

Under the crimson sky, under the gaze of those two ominous celestial bodies, Kane and his team almost all mounted on horses, were rushing toward the distance.

Of course, not everyone was on horseback; only Kane and Meizike were riding warhorses.

While Kreya and Longbei were on a simple carriage, pulled by two warhorses in front.

Kreya was able to occasionally recover her exhausted physical strength on the carriage, while Longbei couldn't ride a warhorse at all, so he stayed on the carriage, acting as the driver.

And at this moment, eight light cavalry on warhorses were pursuing them from behind.

Logically, with just these few cavalrymen, Kane's team, with their combined strength, could completely resist them, and even annihilate them.

However, behind these cavalrymen were more soldiers. They were just the vanguard, having been the first to find Kane's team's traces, persistently chasing them.

Once they were held up, and those pursuing from behind surrounded them, that would be troublesome.

But they couldn't let themselves be chased like this forever; they had to figure out a way to shake them off or eliminate them quickly.

Kane and Kreya sped up, surpassing the group to the front, then quickly set up a simple trap.

Longbei and Meizike passed through the trap area and then halted.

The cavalrymen behind them didn't think twice and charged straight in, causing all their horses to twist their legs and fall to the ground due to the protruding trap.

Kreya dashed out from the side, her sword blade glimmering with magic power, swiftly decapitated two cavalrymen lying on the ground.

One cavalryman tried to roll away to dodge Kane's attack, but during the roll, got stabbed in the throat.

Longbei and Meizike rushed forward holding weapons, joining Kane's team to hack the defenseless cavalrymen to death.

Then these corpses turned to ashes on the ground, and Kane's team quickly gathered their loot, mounted nearby warhorses, and vanished from the spot again.

At this point, the dense sound of hooves could be heard from behind.

These were the ones chasing Kane and his team, with time, their pursuers increased to an exaggerated number, completely unmanageable for Kane's team.

Meanwhile, Kane's team, leading several warhorses that could still run, searched for a hiding place to rest for the night during their escape.

But before that, they had smeared their pre-reserved blood onto the horses and released them dispersedly.

After regrouping with Meizike, their severe injuries were healed, allowing them to spread their blood again to divert the attention of the pursuers.

The wounds that let blood flow could subsequently be healed by Meizike, making that blood the greatest source of bleeding scent.

The pursuers occasionally had to send small groups to track these sources due to their superior numbers, no gamble needed.

Finally, before night fell, Kane and his team found a fairly decent hiding place.

This hiding place was sufficiently concealed while having space large enough to accommodate Kane's team and even tie up their warhorses.

With March rising, a furious blizzard started sweeping and howling around.

Though Kane's team had blocked the entrance with a screen made of branches and vines, the cold wind still found its way through various gaps, causing frequent shivers.

At this point, everyone was sitting around the fire, having dinner, briefly restoring physical strength.

Kane had transformed into a giant wolf, curled up by the fire and asleep, while Lilu slumbered atop him.

Kane needed to replenish sleep and restore physical strength early, as the snowstorm would wane around midnight, requiring him to scout around as a giant wolf.

Because even with the storm's weakening trend, only Kane in giant wolf form could move in the rain and snow without compromising health.

Lilu needed to stay alert around while everyone rested, usually hiding among the trees around their hiding place.

The howling blizzard outside finally showed signs of weakening from the sound.

Kane awoke, stretching lazily.

Upon Kane's awakening, Lilu rubbed her eyes, flew up.

"Goodbye, Kane. Be careful," Lilu fluttered to the fire, guarding the crew for the latter half of the night.

Watching as Kane, transformed into a giant wolf, left the hiding place.

The massive gray giant wolf trudged through the snowstorm, already covered in dense snow.

In such a blizzard, relying on sight to scout around was nearly impossible, and the sense of smell in wolf form was almost useless.

But as the monarch of the wolves, the Wolf Monarch's ears remained remarkably sharp.

Capable of accurately distinguishing sounds carried by the howling storm.

Thus, while Kane patrolled swiftly, his ears occasionally twitched.

Continuing to patrol until March began to fade and the crimson sky of the day was about to descend.

Just as Kane was about to conclude his patrol and return to the hiding place.

He suddenly caught a strange sound with his ears, distant but clearer with the storm's cessation, enhancing ear sensitivity.

Kane sprang into action, dashed toward the source of the sound.

The closer the distance, the clearer the sound.

Finally, he could see from afar, a large horde of soldiers, advancing toward them en masse.

Moreover, they began splitting from both sides.

Seeing this, Kane turned and sprinted back towards the hiding place with haste.

He realized that during these final days, Aiklonen wouldn't let them off easily, deploying numerous soldiers for an encirclement.

"Quick, quick, quick, pack up and let's move, a massive bunch of pursuers are surrounding us, if we don't escape we'll be encircled completely."

Kane burst into the hiding place, urging Kreya and the others who were eating.

Hearing Kane's words, Kreya and the others didn't question but swiftly moved to pack, leading the horses out of the hiding place, mounted them, and followed Kane to start away.

Based on the direction and speed of those encircling cavalry, Kane led Kreya and the others to flee ahead.

This direction should be the last junction of that group.
