What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 744: What About Cats?

I temporarily dropped the idea of getting a dog for now after I called for a vote and all my girls basically voted against getting one at the moment.

I did ask them if they would be open to having one if the ship was bigger in size so I could dedicate a specific area for the dog and they agreed to it.

Which means if I wanted a dog, I would probably need a bigger ship… Or I could probably get another ship and dock it with mine and use it specifically for the dog to stay in.

Which means I could possibly dedicate Drow of Dawn to be the dog ship~

On another note, it seems like the only person who is not afraid of dogs aside from myself is Renata.

And the reason why she was not afraid of them was because she was immune to a dog's attack to begin with so she has nothing to fear from them.

That is… Unless the dog somehow can spit out flames or something… Which is actually quite possible according to the other girls.

But even if the dog could spit out fire, Renata would still be able to survive it since she already had other bodies anyway, so she sees it as a minor inconvenience instead.

Anyway, I don't intend to get a dog illegally so I would still have to get permission to enter the Inner Colonies first before I think about getting one again.

Seriously though… I'm really not used to the fact that dogs are actually seen as some kind of monster in this universe.

Now that I think about it…

"What about cats?" I asked aloud while staring at the stars flying by outside the bridge.

Yumiko spun around and her tail stood on end quite noticeably, "What about them?"

"I mean… I heard all these things about dogs being some crazy strong killers but what about cats? Are they still around in this universe or are they gone?"

Yumiko shuddered, "I sometimes forget that you are from another universe, Mistress. Cats are… Very weird. It is said that if you see one, it could either mean you are really lucky or really unlucky…"

"What does that even mean?"

"Umm…. There was an attempt at genetically modifying cats in the past but… For some reason, the people involved with it disappeared and all records of it were also destroyed. Till this day, no one has any idea what happened and what kind of genetic modifications cats were put through."

I tilted my head, "So… Are cats like really rare or something?"

"In the Outer Colonies, yes. The thing is… Cats seem to just appear out of nowhere even though they aren't being purposefully transported… Like you could be on your ship travelling all the way out in the middle of nowhere and find a cat just sitting in your cargo bay one day. Then the next day, the same cat would disappear and be nowhere to be found, even if you had not docked your ship at all."

Well… To be fair, that sounds exactly like what a cat would do…

"I suppose it's just like Ries in a way?" I giggled, thinking back on when we first met the cat girl. "She also has a tendency to appear out of nowhere."

"I heard my name! Did you call me, Boss?" Ries asked, the catgirl literally appearing beside me.

See what I mean?

I turned to Ries, "What are your thoughts about cats?"

Unexpectedly, her hair seemed to rise a little and her tail straightened up in the air, "Cats?! Where?!! Hisssss!!!"

Oh… That's new… I didn't expect her to react like that when I mentioned cats.

I'm guessing the Maochattes do not like cats?

I patted her head, "You're the only cat here, Ries, relax."

"Hissss!! Hissss!! Huh? There's no cats?"

"No there isn't. I'm just asking what your thoughts about them are?"

She furrowed her brows, "They're definitely up to something! They can't be trusted!"

"What makes them different from dogs?"

"Ugghhh… Dogs are different, Boss… Dogs are scary! They would come at you from anywhere and rip your throat out before you can even know that you are being targeted! But cats… They just appear randomly when you don't expect them… They must be up to something!!"

Hmm… All I can think about is how cute Ries looked right now so I just gave her another head pat.

She immediately forgot about the topic and started purring while leaning into my touch.

So cute~

"Tera~ We're reaching the place soon," Amber reported from behind me.

I turned to Renata who was still at the pilot's seat, "Right. Prepare to drop out of Travel speeds."

"On it, Daddy!"

The streaks of light slowly returned back to normal and a giant orbital station came into view.

Behind it was a planet that was almost completely blue in colour with only small specks of green.

Seems like this planet was primarily a water planet.

Looking at my map, the name 'Shenrata System' popped up and in the very centre was an orange star with three planets orbiting around it.

We were currently heading towards the second planet furthest from the star and according to the map, the planet was known as 'Talavee Resort Planet' and the station orbiting it was aptly named 'Talavee Station'.

From what I know, the exhibition should be held in the station and not on the planet.

Still… The fact that it's called a 'resort planet'...

"Is anyone allowed to go to the planet?" I asked.

Amber was the one who answered my question, "Unn… That's a resort planet, Tera. Which means only certain people are allowed on that planet."

"And what does one need to do to become one of the 'certain people'?"

Amber took out her personal terminal and started scrolling, "Each resort planet is different but… Let me see… Oh? You just need to buy one of their vacation packages to become a guest and you will be allowed to visit the planet."

"How much is one of the packages?"

"Hmm… Seems like the cheapest option starts at ten million Credits, Tera. The most expensive one seems to be a billion Credits."

"What the heck? Why is it so expensive just to visit a water planet like this one?"

Yumiko turned to me, "That's a resort planet, Mistress. These are planets that have moderate climates and have been filled with facilities that primarily cater to relaxation and leisure. The rich really like to spend their vacations in places like these."

"In other words… This is basically just a rich person's playground then? What would happen if we tried to land on the planet without purchasing any of their packages?"

Amber chuckled, "Ehehe~ Well… We would be labelled an intruder and the defense systems on the planet would shoot us down."

"Just for trying to enter the planet? Sheesh… What do we even get by purchasing one of their vacation packages anyway?"

"Mmm… Depending on the type… Looks like we get an entire island to ourselves for the duration of our stay. The shortest stay is a week for the cheapest option. And it doesn't seem like there's a limit to the number of people you can bring with you."

"Huh… So basically ten million Credits and you get an entire island to yourself for a week? What even is on the island?"

"There's various different facilities but they're basically just resorts I guess? Oh, they will have staff on those islands who will serve you during the stay as well."

So it's literally a resort I see…

I thought about it for a moment before asking, "Is it worth it to spend some time there after the exhibition? We've been working constantly after all… Would be nice to take a break and spend some time relaxing down there. What do you girls think?"

There were several gasps around the room.

Amber appeared beside me, "Eh?!! Are you serious, Tera?"

"Mis… Mistress… Even for a joke…" Lea muttered from where she sat at the weapons console.

Ries grabbed my hand excitedly, "Boss!! Can we really go there?!"

Yumiko grimaced, "Mistress… I think that's a little too extravagant…"

"Err… It's just a suggestion. And we can actually afford it, can't we? So what's wrong with just taking a vacation?"

"Because something like this… To even go to a resort planet is something that pretty much only a really, really small percentage of people have the chance of going, Mistress…" Yumiko explained.

"As I said, we can afford it, can't we? We've earned quite a bit of money so I say we deserve it. It's just a suggestion anyway, we can decide after the exhibition, how about that?"

The girls all made noises of agreement.

"Right then, set a course for the station and request to dock~" I ordered.

Our ship turned towards the station and I could see a whole entire crowd of ships also flying towards the station from every direction.

Seems like this exhibition is really popular huh?
