Shin watched as Uranus charged at him, sidestepping the attack with a swift movement. He considered whether he should just end it with a single slash.
Truthfully, Shin wanted to understand the secret behind Uranus's ability to wield so many Devil Fruit powers.
Many of the abilities he used had already been consumed by others. So the question was, how was Uranus able to use them?
Shin didn't know the answer, but he desperately wanted to find out.
"Let's satisfy my curiosity."
The blade that was about to strike was suddenly retracted by Shin. Otherwise, he could have likely killed Uranus in one blow.
A Truth-Seeking Orb. For anyone without Six Paths Power, touching it meant being reduced to ash—or more accurately, being erased into Nothingness.
And Uranus certainly didn't have Six Paths Power. So if the blade had connected, he would have been dead, his body completely disintegrated.
"<Banshō Ten'in!>"
Hoping Uranus would just spill his secrets was a fool's dream, so Shin had to take matters into his own hands.
A black hole-like gravitational force erupted from Shin's palm. It looked similar to the power of the Dark-Dark Fruit, but it wasn't the same—Shin's was clearly much stronger.
Uranus, who was already charging towards Shin, was now pulled forward at an even greater speed. He panicked, his body no longer under his control.
Unable to break free, Uranus suddenly used the power of the Flare-Flare Fruit, his body erupting into a sea of flames.
"A pointless trick. You think that'll work on me? Have you ever heard of Armament Haki?"
Shin's hand turned pitch-black, completely enveloped in Armament Haki, and he directly grabbed the elementalized Uranus.
Come to think of it, it was possible Uranus really didn't know about Armament Haki. After all, he had been asleep for a long time.
As for whether Armament Haki existed over eight hundred years ago—perhaps it did, perhaps it didn't. Who knew when Haki was developed?
After grabbing the fluid form of Uranus, Shin began to extract his soul.
"Hmm? No soul. How do you even exist?"
Shin was genuinely shocked. This was the most surprising thing he had encountered since coming to this world. Without a soul, wasn't he just a puppet?
But Shin could feel that he was definitely not a puppet.
Well, that didn't stop Shin from reading his memories. Placing a hand on his head, Shin began to search through Uranus's mind.
"No wonder. So you were created from the Devil Fruit Tree." Shin learned of Uranus's origin.
It was almost exactly as Shin had guessed. The reason Uranus could use so many Devil Fruit abilities was because he was the Devil Fruit Tree—the very source of all Devil Fruits.
"So a Devil Fruit Tree actually exists..."
Thinking of Devil Fruits, Shin shook his head slightly. Even now, he couldn't quite figure out how they worked.
After a user died, the Devil Fruit would reappear somewhere else. Shin didn't know the principle behind it.
It was a strange phenomenon, and Shin had no desire to investigate it further. He probably wouldn't find anything out anyway.
"Alright, it seems you're useless now."
Shin looked at Uranus. He knew everything he wanted to know, and he had no intention of keeping this guy around.
He was a menace. Even though he was a creation, his ambition was enormous. It was better to destroy someone like him.
It would be a service to the world.
"What did you do to me?" Uranus asked Shin. He had no idea that Shin had just read his every memory.
"That? You can just die wondering."
Shin said with a cold expression, then acted without mercy. A gray bone shot out.
"<All-Killing Ash Bones!>"
The gray bone pierced through Uranus's body. Where it struck, his body began to crumble.
Like the Truth-Seeking Orbs, the All-Killing Ash Bones was a Kekkei Mōra, one of the ultimate techniques.
Anyone hit by it would be turned to dust. It was as terrifying as a Truth-Seeking Orb—no, it was even more terrifying.
A Truth-Seeking Orb could be blocked by Six Paths Power, but the All-Killing Ash Bones could not. Just like that, Uranus turned to ash, completely and utterly gone.
Shin wasn't surprised in the slightest that Uranus was killed in one hit. If he hadn't been, Shin would have been the one who was truly shocked.
——————————
After dealing with Uranus, Shin turned and left, returning to the Pluton.
Hancock and the others had seen him finish Uranus off. It was over in a flash.
"Shin, what are you waiting for? Let's get back to the Holy Land of Mary Geoise!" Nami shouted at him.
"Back to Mary Geoise? What for?"
Hearing Nami's urgent plea to return to the Holy Land, Shin gave her a completely baffled look. What was left there now?
"Did you forget? The Celestial Dragons' treasure! We can't forget about that. Let's hurry back to Mary Geoise."
Even at a time like this, Nami hadn't forgotten about the treasure. Her obsession had reached a fever pitch.
"I think we should just forget it." Shin glanced in the direction of Mary Geoise. He had already blown the place to smithereens.
What was the point of going back now?
"How can we just forget it?" Nami was clearly unwilling to give up. Even if it was almost completely destroyed, what if something was left?
Nami felt she had to dig for it, no matter what. Otherwise, she would never be at peace.
"..."
Hearing Nami's plea, Shin finally nodded in agreement. Otherwise, knowing Nami's personality, she would probably follow him everywhere, nagging him about it.
He controlled the Pluton and flew towards the Holy Land of Mary Geoise. Seeing the ruins, Nami was petrified. It was completely and utterly destroyed.
Before, the Holy Land of Mary Geoise was the highest point on the Red Line. Now, it was practically a basin.
"See? There's nothing here. Let's just go," Shin said, shrugging his shoulders.
"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO HIT IT SO HARD? THE CELESTIAL DRAGONS' TREASURE IS ALL GONE NOW. I'M SO HEARTBROKEN."
Nami was in agony, looking as if she was about to faint.
"Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration?" Shin looked at Nami, who was kneeling on the ground, and shook his head helplessly. He hadn't realized her obsession was this severe.
"I think this is a kind of illness. Nami needs to be treated," Robin glanced at Nami, then whispered to Shin.
"Mm, Robin, you're right. Nami might really be sick. How pitiful," Shin said, looking at Nami and shaking his head, deliberately trying to provoke her.
But this was probably just Nami's obsession. It was so deep that even now, she was still a complete money-grubber.
