Blood covered her forehead and eyes completely, dripping down her cheeks and jaw.
Judging by the stains on the ground, it was clear she had lost a great deal of blood.
But what worried Abraham and Frey the most was the lifeless look in her eyes.
Abraham gently lowered his son, then carefully took his daughter by the shoulders.
"Ada… my daughter…"
With patience, Abraham wiped the blood from Ada's face, trying to bring her back to consciousness.
"It's alright now, my dear… I'm here. Your brother is here. We're here for you."
Holding his daughter's face, Abraham leaned closer.
"Look at me. Everything is alright now…"
He tried every way he could to reassure her.
Ada had no serious physical injuries—she had simply lost a lot of blood, enough to make her lose consciousness.
But her trauma was psychological far more than physical.
First, she had lost Carmen .. the older-sister figure who had been with her for so long.
Then she had witnessed her father raising his sword against her brother…
Seen Frey lose, seen him crushed by Abraham, all while being subjected to overwhelming SSS-rank pressure.
It was simply too much.
That was why Frey stepped closer as well, gently embracing her.
"Hey… I want to say I'm here too, just like Dad did—but I'm really weak right now.
Maybe I'm even weaker than you, Ada… haha…"
His inability to tighten his grip was proof enough, making his embrace faint and unsteady.
But Abraham wrapped his arms around both of them, pulling them in.
Unlike Frey, his grip was firm—his body still carried immense strength.
He was like a shield, protecting them, blocking all harm from reaching them.
It was a warmth Ada had never felt in her life.
She had never truly experienced her father's embrace, as he had avoided her for most of her life.
That warmth… that heat…
The lifeless look in Ada's eyes slowly faded. They trembled lightly .. then she broke down in tears, clinging to both of them.
She stared at them in disbelief, trying to process the situation.
Frey didn't look well .. but he was whole.
He was alive.
And her father… Abraham no longer looked like that merciless killing machine.
He looked alive.
He looked like the father she hadn't seen in so very long.
"Dad… Frey… I—"
She tried to say something, but a sob escaped her instead, making her chest ache from the intensity of her crying.
Seeing that, Abraham nearly lost his composure for the first time. His eyes trembled as he tightened his hold on his children.
"Everything will be alright… I'm here now."
Abraham said it with absolute resolve—vowing to protect his children with everything he had.
It was a rare moment.
A moment of peace this family had not known for a very, very long time.
…
…
…
After some time had passed, and after exchanging a few quiet words with her father and brother, Ada finally lost consciousness.
She wasn't in critical condition .. but the blood loss and the accumulated shock had taken their toll.
She collapsed into the arms of Frey and Abraham, serenity finally visible on her face after she had found peace at last.
Abraham allowed Ada to rest in Frey's arms, then slowly rose to his feet, gazing at the surroundings…
In those brief moments, both he and Frey felt the exact same thing.
"I have a bad feeling about the current situation…" Frey said, and Abraham nodded.
"Yes… I feel the same."
Neither of them could pinpoint the reason, yet it felt as if something ominous was creeping around them .. something dark and ill-omened, impossible to identify.
The only remaining source of danger was Wesker, who was currently fighting the Engineer.
As for the others, Zibar and Geppetto were already dead.
At the thought of Geppetto, Frey looked at his father.
"Father… the ability of the Rank 13 demon is what restored your body to life. Didn't you feel anything when he died?"
It was late to think about it now, but Geppetto's resurrection ability had always been a mystery. With his death, the fate of the bodies he had revived was unknown.
Abraham clenched his fist for a moment, then tightened it firmly.
"I didn't feel anything at all. His death had no effect on me."
"I see… I'm glad to hear that."
Frey had feared that something might happen to Abraham after Geppetto's death, but it seemed his worries were unfounded.
On the other hand, Abraham took a deep breath. His body shone with an intense light as he summoned a condensed sword of pure radiance.
"What are you planning?" Frey asked, frowning, as Abraham lifted his gaze toward the sky.
"Frey… I still don't understand everything that's happening in this world," Abraham said firmly.
"But what I do know is that this might be our only chance to strike the high-ranking demons and deal them a real blow."
He continued with unwavering resolve:
"Killing the Tenth Rank isn't enough. We must kill Wesker here, today."
At those words, Frey's eyes widened.
"You mean—"
"I'll join that bastard Engineer, and we'll put an end to that filthy demon once and for all," Abraham said, a terrifying smile forming on his face.
"There's a debt between me and that wretch… a debt that must be paid."
Abraham was ready to face Wesker once more, reenacting the battle that had taken place many years ago .. the very battle that had ended his life in the past.
Frey knew how powerful his father was, yet he couldn't help but feel anxious. The opponent was Wesker.
That cursed demon Frey had never managed to overcome.
First it had been Aegon… and now Wesker.
That accursed demon had always possessed countless tricks up his sleeve .. to the point where Frey had once become convinced that Wesker simply could not die.
But Abraham was different.
"This barrier will protect you and your sister for now," Abraham said. "So I'll leave her in your care."
Placing his hand on Frey's head, Abraham prepared to depart.
"You're a man now, Frey. Protect your sister, stay alive, and watch from afar as we finish off that bastard."
Even at the end, Frey didn't look convinced, but after seeing the determination in his father's eyes, he finally nodded.
"Then come back alive, Father… no matter the cost."
In response, Abraham nodded as well. Then he stepped away, slammed his foot into the ground, and shot into the sky amid a roaring blaze of radiant light.
The moment he distanced himself from his son, Abraham's expression changed completely, unleashing a terrifying killing intent alongside an overwhelming rage.
"Wesker… it's time for the rematch."
All signs pointed toward an impending catastrophe as the heroes of the old epic finally gathered once more ..
The Engineer, Abraham, and Wesker.
It was as if history itself was repeating.
But what outcome would their clash bring this time?
