Martial Ascent to Divinity

Chapter 385: Treasury

The elves in the hall scanned the elves behind Zhou Leng, realizing that no one objected, they became aware that the Light King had truly manifested.

Everyone knelt down, with only one aged elf with a wrinkled face hesitating for a moment before bowing in salute.

After the legendary elf Silverlake Wind saluted, he looked towards Zhou Leng.

"Your Highness the Duke, may I ask what has happened?"

Zhou Leng found that he could understand the elven language, but he still wasn't very good at speaking it.

So, he said, "Silverlake Moon, briefly explain."

"Yes, Your Highness. Respected Old Wind, it goes like this..."

Silverlake Moon slightly embellished Zhou Leng's actions, making them more magnificent, more radiant, more righteous, and more valiant.

He even added some details from the ancient legends of elven heroes.

When recounting the descent of the Light King, he even sang the hymn of the Light King.

While singing the hymn, the magical lights in this underground hall suddenly shone bright, ten times more luminous than before.

The remaining elves all believed.

If lies were spoken in such a place, the Light King might truly descend to punish the blasphemer.

When Silverlake Moon finished the story, Zhou Leng took out two giant ant queen heads from his Magic Spirit Bag.

The insect juice on them had not yet completely dried.

"God of Elves, bless us..." the elves prayed softly.

Silverlake Wind's old and shriveled lips moved, and he finally sighed lightly, saying, "Respected His Highness Zhou Leng, the situation is critical now. The outside is already surrounded by the Demon Alliance Army, and we can only fight to the death."

Silverlake Moon said, "Old Wind, His Highness is the only legitimate Duke of the elf race; the elves cannot lose him. Please open the underground passage and send him away, let us fight to the death."

Silverlake Wind sighed and said, "The passage was sealed completely after the last batch of young elves was sent out. We will live and die with Silverlake Town."

The elves were full of sorrow.

Silverlake Moon frowned slightly, looked at Zhou Leng and said, "Your Highness the Duke, what do you think we should do?"

The remaining elves were displeased to see Silverlake Moon prioritizing Zhou Leng.

Zhou Leng said, "This is the underground city, right? What is the situation of the battle above?"

"Old Wind, please cast a spell to check the outside situation."

Silverlake Wind waved his hand, and the words on the blood-jade wall disappeared, turning into a huge light screen reflecting the overhead view of Silverlake Town.

Hundreds of thousands of demons and giant insect armies surrounded Silverlake Town.

Massive forest tribes and demons were engaged in fierce battles.

Poison Tree-men, Tree-men, Wild Elves, Druids, Night Leopards, Eagle-men, and others fought bravely.

The ground was littered with corpses, and the edge of the beautiful silver lake was stained red.

The line of castles built against the mountains in Silverlake Town became the forest tribes' last line of defense.

Outside of Silverlake Town, Grandmasters were waging fierce battles; large swathes of forest collapsed, and the ground sunk in.

Zhou Leng suddenly saw Xiaoyong sticking his head out of a corner, glancing around before burrowing underground and disappearing.

"Is there reinforcements?" Zhou Leng asked.

"The Tree-man Race has already dispatched reinforcements, but we may not hold out until they arrive."

"How many Grandmasters are on the other side?"

"Not sure, they have more Legends than we do, currently it's a stalemate."

"How is the battle between Qi Blood Realm and Innate Realm?"

"In the mundane realm of fighting, we are outnumbered, but because their attack methods are generally average, we have the advantage."

"In the battles of the Sanctuary level, their numbers are too great, and we fall behind."

Zhou Leng thought for a moment and said, "There is no point in hiding here, they will eventually find us. Let's go, we will fight first and think of a way while fighting. If aid can come, great; if not, we will try to break through."

"We are to live and die with Silverlake Town." Silverlake Wind said calmly.

"Your elf race established a glorious empire, lingering for tens of thousands of years, and the ultimate purpose is to die here?" Zhou Leng retorted.

"We have no choice."

"Since there is no choice, why did you let a batch of young ones leave, isn't it better to die together here?"

"We need to leave seeds for the elf race."

"The seeds that are reborn in fire are the good seeds. Seeds in a greenhouse are called food," Zhou Leng said.

Silverlake Wind was taken aback for a moment and said, "You are a sage; I don't wish to argue with you."

"Oh, so you're saying you also obey me. All right, everyone listen up, follow me into battle. If reinforcements don't arrive, find opportunities to break through! Those willing to stay here and fight to the death, I won't stop you; those willing to rebuild the Elf Empire with me, please leave with me."

Before Silverlake Wind could speak, Silverlake Moon shouted, "We vow to follow the Duke to death!"

"Vow to follow the Duke to death!" Many elves loyal to Zhou Leng instinctively shouted.

Hundreds of people shouted in unison in the underground hall, creating a powerful momentum and echoing continuously.

Some of the remaining elves' expressions shifted slightly.

Silverlake Moon said, "Old Wind, please take us to the armory, we are to fight for the elves."

Silverlake Wind glanced at the elves behind Zhou Leng.

Other than a few elves who avoided eye contact, most of the elves gazed resolutely, purely, and without blemish.

He was somewhat astonished; these elves truly seemed like Zhou Leng said—reborn from fire, with a spirit and demeanor indeed different from the past.

"Very well." Silverlake Wind sighed, slightly bowed his back, leaned on the huge Magic Staff, and led everyone to the Elf Treasury.

Some elves wanted to dissuade him, but once they thought of these people's intent to fight, they silently followed along.

The large doors opened, and everyone entered a massive hall.

The hall was deep, with doors to storerooms on either side.

Labels of stored items are inscribed on the door in Elven language.

Zhou Leng originally couldn't recognize them all, but now he could understand them at a glance.

Silver Lake Wind stopped in front of the "Sanctuary Armory" and said, "Everyone can choose one weapon and one piece of armor, plus one magic artifact."

Zhou Leng pointed to the deepest parts of the "Legendary Armory" and "Demigod Armory," and asked, "With the army pressing in, and the Elves facing the danger of extinction, can't we take better weapons?"

Silver Lake Wind replied, "The Demigod Armory is empty. The Legendary Armory requires ten legends to open it."

Silver Lake Moon said, "Your Grace, you possess the Saint's Mark and the Duke's Crown. In theory, you have the right to open the Legendary Armory. You might want to give it a try."

Silver Lake Wind was both crying and laughing, not expecting Silver Lake Moon to side with this person so much.

He said, "Since things have come to this point, I'm not going to stop you. If you can open the treasury, you can certainly help yourself to a set."

Zhou Leng asked, "It's said that the new Elven weapons are quite ordinary, while the ancient Elven weapons are powerful. Can such ancient artifacts still be used after so long?"

"Ordinary weapons last at most a few hundred years. Advanced weapons are nurtured by arrays and maintained periodically. A few advanced weapons are crafted by demigods using the branches of the Mother Tree, growing stronger with age rather than deteriorating."

"I'll give it a try." Zhou Leng became interested, walking over to the Legendary Armory.

This door, half stone and half wood, had exquisite magic patterns on its surface, appearing old but as solid as ever.

Silver Lake Moon said, "Try chanting the incantation with me."

Thus, Silver Lake Moon chanted a line, and Zhou Leng followed in recitation.

Finally, Zhou Leng pressed his hands against the door. The Duke's Crown glowed faintly, and a platinum sacred leaf appeared at his brow.

The magic patterns on the door suddenly lit up, forming a complete magic array that illuminated the hall.

Rumble...

The door slowly opened.

The Elves watched the new Duke, filled with admiration and conviction.

Silver Lake Wind was stunned for a moment, not expecting this human to really pass the ancestral verification.

This warehouse was originally built by the King of Light and others, with the array on it personally crafted by him.

He sighed, putting aside his inner wariness.

Zhou Leng strode into the Legendary Armory, with Silver Lake Wind following behind, while the others only dared to stand outside the door, craning their necks to watch.

The floors, walls, and ceiling were covered with densely packed azure arrays, and the blue glow made the inside incredibly bright.

Within the warehouse, rows of weapon and armor racks were arranged.

Most of the place was empty, with only a few racks holding equipment.

Silver Lake Wind lamented, "It's said that back in the day, this place was filled with countless treasures, with many weapons and armor just tossed on the ground."

Zhou Leng turned and looked at Silver Lake Moon, asking, "Why aren't you coming in?"

"We do not have the right to enter."

"You have the right now," Zhou Leng said.

Silver Lake Moon looked at Silver Lake Wind, who hesitated for a moment and then said, "The Duke's orders take precedence over everything."

Cautiously, Silver Lake Moon stepped in, relieved when the magic array did not hinder her.

She quickly walked to Zhou Leng's side and pointed to the deepest stone platforms, distinctly different from the racks.

"You should take a look there."

Zhou Leng stepped toward the stone platforms.

On the platforms lay a few weapons and armor, spotless and as good as new.

The Elves had no choice but to acknowledge how wholeheartedly Silver Lake Moon had sided with him.

Those legendary equipment pieces were all crafted by demigods.

Zhou Leng scanned the platform, which was mostly occupied by longbows and magic staves.

"Each of you pick one."

Both Silver Lake Moon and Silver Lake Wind were in shock.

Even Silver Lake Wind, an old legend of the tribe, didn't have the right to choose the weapons on the platform.

"The entire race is nearing extinction, what's there to hesitate about?" Zhou Leng said as he sized up a suitable weapon for himself.

On the stone platform, there were a total of seven Elven swords.

Among them were four thin swords, two longswords, and one broadsword.

Zhou Leng carefully observed and discovered that one longsword had an attached Ice Series power. He drew it from its scabbard.

Clang...

The sword resonated with a clear sound.

Under the light of the magic array, the blade was surrounded by frost, with snowflake patterns clearly visible on its thick back, emanating a chilling aura.

Zhou Leng slowly brought his finger close to the blade, and when it was just one millimeter away, his skin automatically broke.

"Good sword."

Zhou Leng returned the sword to its scabbard.

Silver Lake Moon scrutinized it and said, "This sword is called 'Frost Cry,' possessing not only ice power but also an enchanting sound, with excellent material. You should hold a sword-opening ceremony and infuse it with blood before using it. From then on, this sword will never harm you."

"Truly a legendary sword. It's more suited for dealing with masters. However, using this sword against lower-level demons would be wasteful; a knife is needed."

Zhou Leng sheathed the Frost Cry Sword and moved toward other stone platforms.

Silver Lake Wind frowned slightly, sensing something was amiss.

Zhou Leng then picked up a thick-backed broadsword from the platform, entirely crimson, differing from the Elven style, likely made for other races.

Silver Lake Moon said, "This sword is called 'Molten Wall.' When swung, it forms a wall of fire, quite spectacular."

This thick-backed broadsword was best suited for charging in group battles, and Zhou Leng put it into his bag.
