Zombie Bodyguard

Chapter 1317: The Impenetrable Door

Last time at the ancient battlefield, during the battle between Lin Tian and Charlotte, even when her subordinates were killed one by one, Charlotte remained indifferent. Therefore, Lin Tian had reasons to question the authenticity of Charlotte's earlier statements.

Charlotte, however, was not annoyed and continued to speak in a calm tone: "Offering their lives for me in battle is their honor and duty, but during non-battle times, as long as they haven't done anything wrong, I rarely interfere with them. This is where I differ from Asina."

"I see, a true leader doesn't establish authority through slaughter. It seems you're more capable than Asina by a significant margin," Lin Tian said with a slight admiration.

"She was never equal to me," Charlotte replied without a hint of humility.

Under Ai Wei's rapid driving, the car quickly arrived in front of a villa with white walls and a blue roof. The style of the villa was quite modern, with contemporary elements like lights, windows, glass, and columns.

This was another surprise for Lin Tian. Until now, all the vampires he knew lived in castles; even if not in castles, they were in ancient places. For instance, Asina's underground world seemed to be hundreds of years old, evident from those old-style Roman columns.

To summarize in one word: ancient. The places vampires live are mostly ancient, yet Charlotte lives in such a modernly designed villa.

Seemingly noticing Lin Tian's surprise, Charlotte said, "You must be wondering why I don't live in an ancient castle? Castles have an aura of decay, even time decays there. The Blood Clan needs to change, to emerge from decay and darkness. Hiding in the dark will never change the state of the Blood Clan."

In human terms, Lin Tian felt that Charlotte could be considered a pioneer, a forerunner, or a prophet within the Blood Clan. Her vision was forward-looking, contrasting sharply with the Clan's obstinacy.

In this respect, she and Lin Tian were somewhat similar. Although Lin Tian was a zombie, he also disliked decayed and dark environments. If there were a zombie tribe in Huaxia, Lin Tian felt he would probably be an outlier.

Charlotte waved to Ai Wei: "Ai Wei, quickly change your clothes. Lin Tian is no gentleman."

"Yes, Lord," Ai Wei responded respectfully, glancing mischievously at Lin Tian, and then walked towards a house next to the villa. It seemed their subordinates lived near the villa.

After Ai Wei left, Charlotte led Lin Tian into the villa. The first floor was a hall surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offered a view of the sea outside the island. Bright sunlight streamed through the clean glass, filling the hall with the scent of the sea and sun.

This was not just a place to live; it was a place to enjoy. Ample sunlight, the blue sea, the clear lake, the white sandy beach, trees, seabirds, turtles, and fish all ensured one could escape worldly clamor.

Having money is certainly good. Lin Tian thought he had made quite a lot of money recently, but compared to Charlotte, it was like heaven and earth. He couldn't even afford half of this island.

If it were another time, Lin Tian might enjoy island life, but now he had no interest.

"Where is Zhang Lingyu?" As soon as they entered the villa, Lin Tian asked straightforwardly, not even waiting to sit down.

"Since you're here, you should relax; there's no need to rush," Charlotte said with a faint smile.

"Where is Zhang Lingyu?" Lin Tian raised his voice again, somewhat harshly.

"Alright, you won't be at ease until you see her," Charlotte seemed a bit helpless, turning to a floor-to-ceiling glass window and said in English, "Open!"

As Lin Tian was puzzled by her actions, the floor-to-ceiling glass walls around the hall changed; the colors gradually deepened, turning from complete transparency to solid black, plunging the hall into darkness.

However, this darkness did not last long. All the glass walls began to emit soft light, and then each huge glass pane displayed an image.

The entire 360-degree glass wall was actually a disguised display screen, and a huge curved screen at that. Curved screens have been used in phones and TVs, but Lin Tian was seeing such a huge curved screen for the first time and had never even heard of it before.

In the screen image, there seemed to be a room with someone sitting inside, but facing away from the camera, making it impossible to see the person's face.

Even so, Lin Tian recognized at first glance the person in the image was Zhang Lingyu, it seemed to be a surveillance footage, with Zhang Lingyu deeply engrossed in something.

"Zhang Lingyu!" Lin Tian shouted, knowing she couldn't hear him, but still holding onto a glimmer of hope.

As expected, the image of Zhang Lingyu showed no reaction as Charlotte reminded him: "No matter how loudly you call, it's useless; she can't hear you."

"What is she doing?" Lin Tian asked, frowning.

Charlotte didn't immediately respond but put on a control bracelet, controlling the screen image in the air. The image of Zhang Lingyu was enlarged, revealing the corner of a stack of documents near her hand.

"Did you see this?" Charlotte pointed at the stack of papers, saying, "This is the Blood Angel's research data. I printed a copy for the Zhang Family girl, and she is concentrating on studying the Blood Angel's data."

"Is this your reason for capturing her?" Lin Tian calmly asked, feeling much relieved knowing Zhang Lingyu was safe.

"That's one of the reasons," Charlotte vaguely replied.

Lin Tian examined the room in the image, which appeared to be an ordinary room without anything special. He asked again, "I want to know where she is now?"

Charlotte glanced at the floor and suddenly smiled, "It doesn't hurt to tell you. The Zhang Family girl is on the island, beneath your feet."

On the island? Beneath my feet? Lin Tian was momentarily puzzled but then realized a possibility: an underground space could be built under this island.

Furthermore, this underground space was likely right beneath the villa. With this possibility in mind, Lin Tian immediately activated his super vision, scanning the entire villa.

He finally discovered the entrance to an underground passage at the back of the villa. Beyond the passage was a spiraling staircase and then a door. As Lin Tian's vision attempted to penetrate this door, a red light flashed over it, blocking his sight.

Lin Tian's super vision was unable to penetrate this door. Since he acquired this ability, such a situation occurred only once, in the Netherworld's Ksitigarbha Hall. Now it happened again.

The Ksitigarbha Hall seemed filled with mysterious energy, blocking Lin Tian's observation. Unable to see through the Ksitigarbha Hall was understandable, as it was Ksitigarbha's realm.

But now, even a basement door couldn't be penetrated, which was bizarre. Could it be that there was a super barrier set beneath the villa?
