Zombie Bodyguard

Chapter 1319: Mooching Food and Drink

"If you want to meet Zhang Lingyu, no problem, you can leave now." Charlotte agreed very readily.

Lin Tian's heart was as clear as a mirror as to why she was so forthcoming; Charlotte's perfect plan was simply to use the same method to confine him. Lin Tian was well aware that there was a powerful barrier there, but he was still willing to take the risk because he was attracted by the zombie aura on the barrier.

If you don't enter the tiger's den, how can you get the tiger cub? Whether it was for Zhang Lingyu or the zombie aura, he had to venture into the underground space once.

"Rossi, you stay outside, the Lord and I will go below." Lin Tian turned and instructed Rossi, who, though worried, still nodded.

Charlotte turned off the glass wall screen and led Lin Tian towards the back of the villa, where the entrance to the underground space was located, just as Lin Tian had seen through it.

Because the villa's location was solid rock, it was suitable for building a basement. Although it was a bit troublesome to construct, once such a basement was completed, it was relatively sturdy.

After the first door opened, there was a spiral stone staircase going down, carved directly out of the rock. Lin Tian estimated the vertical height of this passage and found it to be over twenty meters.

Excavating a spiral staircase more than 20 meters deep underground, especially in hard rock, was undoubtedly difficult. Lin Tian guessed that it was likely built by the Blood Clan themselves, whose efficiency in carving out the stone stairs would surpass modern high-tech tools.

However, Lin Tian had a question: why didn't Charlotte install an elevator? Otherwise, it wouldn't match this high-tech villa.

Moreover, the island was not short of electricity. When Lin Tian first arrived, he saw wind turbines on the mountain top and a dam on one corner of the island, likely for tidal power generation. Coupled with the ample sunlight for solar power, the island's electricity clearly could be self-sufficient.

Could it be because of the barrier? Was this spiral stone staircase part of the barrier? Lin Tian thought of this possibility.

Both moved quickly, and while pondering, he had already reached the bottom of the stairs, standing before a gate that obstructed even super vision.

It was a stone door, made from a single giant stone block. In ancient times, such massive stone doors were called Dragon-Cutting Stones, and those called Dragon-Cutting Stones weighed over a thousand catties.

In ancient times, opening a thousand-catty giant stone was very difficult, but in modern society, making such a stone door was technically easy. Lin Tian estimated the stone door before him to weigh at least five tons, which is ten thousand catties, unimaginable in ancient times.

"Lin Tian, have you thought about why I was able to confine Zhang Lingyu? Maybe once you enter this door, you won't be able to come out." Charlotte said in a strange tone.

"If I'm not wrong, the underground space is covered by a special barrier, but I'm a professional at breaking barriers." Lin Tian replied with a nonchalant smile.

Charlotte chuckled, said nothing, and reached out to press on the stone wall beside her. The wall suddenly shimmered with blood-red patterns, and with a click, the stone door slowly opened.

Beyond the stone door was a long passageway that spiraled downward again. Charlotte walked in first, and Lin Tian, without hesitation, stepped inside.

After he passed through, the stone door slammed shut, the speed of its closing entirely different from when it opened.

"Charlotte, now you've got your wish, finally trapping me within the barrier." Lin Tian raised an eyebrow and said calmly.

"Oh, you knew?" Charlotte exclaimed in surprise because Lin Tian's tone was certain, indicating that he had known about the barrier's existence and wasn't just guessing.

"I can sense that this barrier is somewhat similar to your Blood-colored Barrier, but at least ten times stronger." Lin Tian said ambiguously.

This time Charlotte was even more surprised, for Lin Tian's words were almost true. However, she didn't answer Lin Tian but said, "Let's go, Zhang Lingyu will be very happy to see you."

They continued down the stone stairs, but this time they didn't go much deeper before reaching the bottom. A horizontal corridor stretched out afterward, with numerous intersections branching in different directions on either side.

"This is a maze, follow me carefully, don't get lost." Charlotte reminded after entering the passage.

They turned many corners and passed through various corridors, and suddenly the path opened up as they arrived before a hall. On each side of the hall were three stone doors, beyond which lay either passages or rooms.

"Third stone door on the right; that's where the Zhang Family girl resides." Charlotte pointed in that direction.

"I'm curious, throughout this journey, I haven't seen any cable lines. How does the villa hall's video signal transmit through the barrier?" Lin Tian was truly curious this time since even his super vision couldn't penetrate, how could mere electrical signals transmit?

Charlotte walked up to the third stone door and smiled. "I naturally have my means, and I control my barrier."

"Really? I doubt the barrier belongs to you." Lin Tian probed, wondering how a Blood Clan member could create a barrier with a zombie aura.

Charlotte's eyes flickered, but once again, she didn't answer Lin Tian's question. Instead, she reached out and pressed the stone wall to open the door. Lin Tian followed Charlotte through the stone door.

Behind the stone door was a living room, furnished no differently from an ordinary house, with tables, coffee tables, sofas, televisions, and other household appliances all complete. The lighting was bright, and there were quite a few potted plants, creating a fresh and elegant environment.

On the sofa lay a girl in a purple dress, the skirt draped to the side, revealing a pair of smooth, slender legs with fair and glossy skin.

The girl held a book up to her eyes, seeming to focus intently on something, not even glancing at Charlotte's entrance. An apple on the coffee table had a small bite, as if its owner had forgotten to finish eating it.

"Charlotte, why are you here again? I've told you, I can't help you. Even if I wanted to, I can't. Just give up already." The girl said while reading the book, seemingly accustomed to Charlotte's visits.

"What about if I add a pharmacist?" Charlotte said lazily.

"Pharmacist?" The girl sounded puzzled and after pausing, continued, "You must be mistaken; this is England. Where would a pharmacist come from? Besides, even in Huaxia, finding a pharmacist would be difficult."

The girl still didn't put down the book, her voice sounded again, "Charlotte, just go. Remember to bring me an ancient book on Western witchcraft next time you come. I've already finished the one from last time."

Standing behind Charlotte, Lin Tian almost burst out laughing. This beautiful Heavenly Master seemed to be enjoying herself too much, as if she weren't confined at all but rather here to freeload some food, drink, and books.
