My Sexy Female CEO

Chapter 814 Interrogation

He knew what the police called him here for. It must be about that case last night.

"If that's the case, why haven't we seen the people who wanted to kill you leave your cell? Where did they go?" the police sternly asked.

"They escaped through the window," Lin Yifan answered.

"Are you sure you're not lying to me?" the police asked, pressing him with a stern face.

"I'm very sure!" Lin Yifan replied with confidence, unfazed by the police's authority.

Someone like him, who had been in life-or-death situations numerous times, would not be intimidated by a police officer. So, the officer's attempt to exert pressure through his facial expressions was futile against Lin Yifan's mental defenses.

"Then why did I only see one person fly out of the window?" the police continued questioning.

Lin Yifan felt alarmed. Could there be surveillance cameras around the window of the cell? If that's true, his whereabouts would be completely exposed.

Thinking about it again, he found it odd. If the police had concrete evidence, why would they need to interrogate him? So, he believed that the police might have obtained some vague evidence and were purposefully questioning him to confirm their suspicions.

Actually, this tactic is known as baiting, commonly used by police to interrogate suspects. The goal is to break down the suspect's mental defenses, causing them to confess without resistance.

Lin Yifan was not to be easily deceived, so he retorted, "Is that so? Do you have evidence to prove it?"

"The evidence is in my hands; you just need to answer whether you lied earlier," the police responded calmly.

"If I say no, will you believe me?" Lin Yifan continued to inquire.

"What do you think?" the police retorted.

"Then I say I didn't lie!" Lin Yifan answered directly, challenging the police to see what they could do.

"You..." the police were infuriated.

Lin Yifan's confidence suggested he knew they had no solid evidence.

"What is it, Officer? Did I say something wrong?" Lin Yifan asked with a hint of sarcasm.

"You may leave now!" the police issued a direct order to dismiss him.

The interrogation had reached a point where continuing it would yield no results. As long as Lin Yifan insisted that the assassins escaped through the window, the police had no way to deal with him.

Before leaving, Lin Yifan couldn't help but taunt, "Officer, you seem more concerned about those assassins than me, the victim. Your law enforcement is truly disheartening."

"Our affairs don't concern you! Enjoy the rest of your time!" the police responded.

"Tsk!" With a disdainful glance and a cold sneer, Lin Yifan left.

Next, they summoned Ding Laoda.

When Lin Yifan met Ding Laoda, he whispered, "They have no evidence."

Although it was a simple sentence, anyone with normal intelligence would understand its implication.

With this information, Ding Laoda felt emboldened.

He sat in the interrogation room, crossed his legs, displaying a defiant and arrogant posture.

"Can you sit properly?" the police couldn't help but ask angrily.

"This is my most proper posture. What more do you want?" Ding Laoda retorted.

"Are you tired of living?" the police asked, suppressing their anger.

"Do you have a death wish?" Ding Laoda threatened back.

Though his voice sounded lazy, no one doubted the truth in his words.

The interrogating officer felt a wave of murderous intent, instantly losing his arrogance. Even the cultivators from the clans feared him; provoking this man was a death wish.

Suppressing his anger deep down, he asked, "Did you escape prison last night?"

"Yes!" Ding Laoda answered truthfully; there was no point in hiding it.

"Why did you escape prison? Don't you know the rules?" the police continued questioning.

"Since the prison knows the rules, why did they conspire with outsiders to kill my brother?" Ding Laoda retorted.

"Do you have evidence?" the police asked.

"Putting my brother in the most secluded cell, isn't that evidence enough?" Ding Laoda questioned back.

"We only considered him extremely dangerous, so we arranged to confine him in the most secluded part of the prison," the police excused.

"Really? Then why didn't you place him there right after he was imprisoned?" Ding Laoda countered.

"We only found out recently," the police continued to excuse.

"You police are really good at making excuses, truly impressive." Ding Laoda sneered.

The interrogation had indeed turned into Ding Laoda questioning the police rather than being questioned, making the situation somewhat comical.

The clan members grew impatient and sent a message to the interrogating officer, "Stop wasting time with him; directly ask where the assassins went last night."

Receiving the order, the police realized they had been led astray; immediately refocusing, "Did you confront the assassins last night?"

"Yes!" Ding Laoda answered.

Since he appeared in Lin Yifan's cell, he must have fought with the assassins, so there was no point in lying about it.

"Where did the assassins go?" the police asked.

When asked, Ding Laoda suddenly remembered the Corpse Dissolving Liquid. Such a powerful substance could easily turn a corpse into a puddle of liquid - unbelievable.

He couldn't disclose this, as it would benefit no one; thus, he answered, "They escaped!"

This answer was agreed upon last night after he and Lin Yifan discussed.

Members of the clan mysteriously "disappeared," so the Capital Noble Families would surely send someone to investigate, leading him to spontaneously say it.

"From where did they escape?" the police pursued.

"From the window!"

"Why didn't you capture them?"

"We fought to a draw. Forcing them to stay would only result in mutual destruction, so we let them go," Ding Laoda replied.

"Excuses! Such damn excuses!" In the surveillance room, the clan members gritted their teeth in rage.

If it was true as Ding Laoda said, their people should be safe and sound. Why had they received no news until now?

Lin Yifan and Ding Laoda both unequivocally confirmed that the assassins escaped through the window last night, rendering the interrogation meaningless.

Originally, they thought separate interrogations might yield unexpected results, but ultimately, they were disappointed.

"What realm is Ding Laoda exactly in to hold his ground against so many people?" the clan members in the surveillance room questioned.

To test Ding Laoda's strength and verify if he was lying earlier, the clan decided to take a risky venture to meet this Ding Laoda.

The next moment, they sent their top fighter—a Divine Transformation Forth Realm Middle Stage master—into the interrogation room, hurling a sharp dagger at Ding Laoda.
