Fury Immortal Doctor

Chapter 90 The Little Girl Selling Flowers

It was already 7:30 in the morning when Shen Qiang and Xin Xiaoting went downstairs, planning to have breakfast before Shen Qiang accompanied Xin Xiaoting to her exam. However, as soon as they reached the lobby, Shen Qiang's phone rang.

Checking the caller ID, he saw it was Wu Guoxi, the deputy director of Tumor Surgery.

"Shen Qiang, no matter where you are or what you are doing, come back to the hospital immediately, hurry!"

After these words, the call ended abruptly.

Xin Xiaoting immediately urged Shen Qiang, saying, "Director Wu called you. It must be an emergency. You should go back to the hospital first."

Frowning, Shen Qiang sighed and hailed a taxi to rush to Bikang Hospital.

Honestly, both Xin Xiaoting and Shen Qiang could guess that there must be a patient waiting to be saved in the hospital, otherwise, Director Wu wouldn't have made such a call.

In the car,

while en route to the hospital,

Shen Qiang checked the status of the "Plague Source" again and was surprised to find that the type B influenza bacterium was still evolving.

Not only that,

Shen Qiang also discovered that after each evolution, a portion of the bacterium remained in the veins of the leaves, as if preserved as samples.

Furthermore, three sections of the leaf base had even sprouted new spores which appeared to be developing into branches.

Arriving at Bikang Hospital, Shen Qiang instantly spotted Wu Guoxi and other doctors from Tumor Surgery standing at the back door of the outpatient building, along with doctors from General Surgery, Orthopedics, and Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Seeing Shen Qiang, Director Wu quickly waved his hand.

As Shen Qiang approached, Director Wu said, "No time to explain in detail now, just follow along."

At that moment, the head of General Surgery said, "All the surgical doctors from the hospital have almost arrived. Everyone, head to the conference room on the seventh floor quickly, we'll start the consultation in five minutes."

Shen Qiang was astonished.

In puzzlement, Director Wu called over a doctor around thirty-five or thirty-six years old, with a very honest look, and introduced him to Shen Qiang, saying, "Shen Qiang, this is Chen Liangpeng, the new oncology specialist from our oncology department. You can just call him Director Chen."

"Shen Qiang, the only person in the province who passed the doctor qualification exam," Chen Liangpeng said with bright eyes as he shook Shen Qiang's hand.

Shen Qiang smiled, "Director Chen, nice to meet you."

As they walked towards the elevator, Chen Liangpeng continued, "No need to be too polite. I'd heard about you before. But clearly, now is not the time for casual talk. The condition of this patient, I believe, is quite bleak."

Hearing this, Shen Qiang asked in surprise, "What situation?"

Wu Guoxi took a deep breath and said in a grave tone, "An hour ago, the police brought in a little girl who was deeply unconscious. All her limbs had been broken, six ribs fractured, there were contusions in her brain, and several organs were damaged. Although she's currently in emergency care, she could die at any moment."

Hearing this, Shen Qiang frowned, "Calling all the surgical doctors in the hospital, just to consult on her?"

Wu Guoxi said solemnly, "That's also why I called you here. Her condition is extremely critical, and the injuries are severe. If surgery is needed, it might require a cooperative effort from all surgical doctors in the hospital."

Shen Qiang was silent.

At that moment, Chen Liangpeng patted Shen Qiang's shoulder and said, "Don't worry too much. Maybe the situation isn't as complex as we imagined."

The group took the elevator up to the conference room on the seventh floor of the outpatient building.

The director and his beautiful assistant had already arrived and were speaking with two police officers.

Besides them, the heads and doctors of orthopedics, tumor surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and general surgery, including the heads and doctors of cardiology, vascular surgery, neurology, and oncology, had also arrived.

Once everyone was seated,

the director briefly spoke, then a police officer stood up and said, "This is the situation, at six twenty this morning, a little girl ran into the police station saying her sister had been beaten to death."

"So we immediately dispatched police, and with the guidance of that little girl, we found the victim."

As he spoke, the officer pressed the remote for the projector.

On the big screen, there immediately appeared a girl with a face covered in blood and limbs twisted in bizarre angles.

Shen Qiang abruptly stood up.

Because he recognized at first glance that this blood-covered girl was the flower-selling girl whom he had just performed a magic trick for and treated to kebabs last night.

The director frowned. His beautiful assistant immediately said to Shen Qiang, "Doctor Shen, please sit down."

Shen Qiang took a deep breath and then sat down.

At this time, the officer continued, "According to the clues provided by the girl who reported the crime, both of them were trafficked to this city. Previously, they had been forced to sell flowers to passing couples in the pedestrian street park and other places under the care of their trafficker."

"But last night, because the little girl refused to sell flowers to a young man, the trafficker in charge of her got very angry and decided to smash the girl's limbs to make her a crippled beggar."

"During the process, because she resisted and angered the trafficker, he not only cruelly smashed her limbs with a hammer but also struck her chest, abdomen, and head."

"Thinking she was dead, he then discarded her."

After presenting the situation, the officer stepped aside.

Sitting in the conference room, Shen Qiang, looking at the blood-stained face on the big screen and remembering her smile last night when she said she was a good person and wouldn't sell flowers to him, felt a raging flame of anger burning inside him!

All along, Shen Qiang had thought that the flower-selling girl was just selling flowers because her family was poor and needed support.

However, Shen Qiang had never expected,

that the reality was not as he had imagined.

She had been kidnapped by human traffickers and was under their control!

Recalling how she looked back in terror when she left last night, and thinking about her tender body being brutally smashed by the hammer, the smoldering anger in Shen Qiang's heart was like a volcano pent up for thousands of years.

After the officer had finished introducing the case,

under the chairmanship of Director Su, many internal and surgical experts began to consult.

The final conclusion was that the little girl was in a critical condition and could die within three to five hours if surgery was not started immediately.

But the subsequent arrangement for the surgery led to serious disagreements.

The orthopedic experts first asserted that the real fatal injuries were not due to fractures, so they believed that the girl's bone surgery could be done after she was out of the critical period.

Then the head of neurosurgery believed that performing a craniotomy under such severe injuries was no different from murder, and the girl simply could not survive the surgery.

Beyond that, the cardiothoracic surgery experts also thought that performing a splenic repair surgery before finishing the craniotomy would mean the girl would be dead before the surgery concluded.

Listening to their seemingly rational mutual buck-passing, Shen Qiang, unable to suppress himself any longer, suddenly stood up and shouted, "Enough! I will perform the surgery!"
