Water Mage in the Flame Realm

Chapter 126: Eight Gates

Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.

The Warm Fire Commerce Association still had not responded. In the process of expanding Wildfire Territory, there were various challenges and difficulties faced every day.

However, Andrew actually felt that this past half month had been the most fulfilling and happiest time since he arrived in this Flame Realm!

"It's just waiting for a response, after all."

Andrew comforted Barbara, who was becoming increasingly anxious about the lack of a reply, "Regardless of whether the news we await is good or bad, the best thing we can do is strive to become stronger and do everything within our capacity. There's definitely no harm in that."

Barbara sighed and nodded, saying, "That's all we can do." Her light red eyes shifted to look behind Andrew, "I forgot to ask, what are you guys tinkering with over there?"

Not far behind Andrew, Ivan was standing there with a sullen face, slowly chiseling away at a stone arch.

On the first day of the territory expansion project, Andrew diligently followed An Ya's instructions and worked with the team all day, but to be honest, it wasn't his strong suit.

It's somewhat sad, but as someone who was not great in academics before crossing over to this Otherworld, Andrew realized that aside from Water Magic, he didn't have much to offer.

Being a cool Otherworld traveler who brings modern civilization to a new world had nothing to do with him.

He's a bit regretful now for not having studied more diligently back then!

So on the second day after the expansion project started, Andrew decided to revert to his current area of expertise, which was Water Magic.

To contribute his share to the expansion project in the way he excelled at.

Continuing to exorcise Desolate Beasts was one aspect.

On the other hand, with more and more lung-burn patients arriving in Wildfire Territory under Zi's arrangement, Andrew allocated more time each day to treat patients in the Living People Cemetery in Wildfire Territory, managed by Zi.

—— This is what Barbara already knew about what Andrew could do.

As for the stone archway project Andrew and the recently recovered Ivan started, it's something Barbara hadn't seen before.

"Oh, you mean this," Andrew laughed, "This is a door."

"Duh, I obviously know it's a door!" Barbara, growing more familiar with Andrew, spoke bluntly, "I'm asking what's special about it? I've seen you and Ivan tinkering with this thing for the past couple of days."

Barbara had her own pride.

The more she interacted with Andrew, the more she felt she couldn't quite understand him. Internally, she found this somewhat unacceptable.

How could the proud third daughter of the Warm Fire Commerce Association constantly act like a curious child, asking Andrew what he was doing? That wouldn't do! Barbara decided she couldn't accept that!

So, she quietly observed and studied for several days.

Trying to understand in her way what Andrew and Ivan were doing.

The result was… inconclusive.

Finally unable to hold back from asking, she maintained an air of casualness, conveying she wasn't particularly concerned, adding a phrase: "Of course, if it's inconvenient to say, never mind. I'm not insisting——"

"Alright, then I won't say," Andrew replied smoothly.

Barbara: "..."

Seeing Barbara's cute little eyebrows gradually rise, showing signs of an impending outburst, Andrew chuckled and said, "Alright, alright, it's actually nothing special. This is a 'facade' Ivan and I are making for Wildfire Territory."

"Facade?" Barbara showed a confused expression.

Andrew continued, "Haven't you asked me why our Professional Awakening Probability in Wildfire Territory is so high? The answer lies within this 'facade'."

When Andrew and Ivan returned from the Underground Space to the surface, An Ya, who had just become the Territory Administrator, gave Andrew a big gift: a survey report of the Professional Awakening of all Wildfire Territory residents.

The Professional Awakening rate among the residents in the top-tier cities of this Flame Realm was about 20%.

According to the survey An Ya provided, Wildfire Territory's Professional Awakening rate was a staggering 70% at the time!

As more residents showed signs of Professional Awakening, Barbara noticed it, too.

She had asked Andrew multiple times before about what was going on.

This was, of course, because after defeating the old Mage Humboldt, the Enlightenment Magic had transformed into the 'Rain of Enlightenment'.

It was precisely this Water Magic of Enlightenment that elevated the Professional Awakening Probability in Wildfire Territory to a seemingly miraculous 70%!

"However, the residents who underwent the blessing of the 'Rain of Enlightenment' back then were all original townsfolk of Wildfire Territory."

Andrew only realized a few days ago that the newly joining residents hadn't received any assistance from the Power of Enlightenment. Their Professional Awakening Probability wouldn't even reach one percent, let alone two or ten percent!

Professional Awakening signified not just the commencement of practice, becoming an Apprentice Crimson Knight, Apprentice Warm Fire Mage, or Apprentice Hunter.

It also directly enhanced physical ability, brain power, durability, recovery power, perception... among many other attributes!

So for the current expansion project, it held great benefits!

Andrew initially thought of initiating another 'Rain of Enlightenment', which was no challenge for him, as he had advanced to Tier Three, becoming a Magic Lord, with his total Magic Power dramatically surging after taking in many newcomers.

But Ivan's suggestion gave him pause: "You've only considered those who've already joined. What about the many more people coming to Wildfire Territory in the future? You can't expect to summon rain every so often, can you?"

Ivan, being the only one in this Flame Realm privy to Andrew's true identity, naturally knew about the 'Rain of Enlightenment'.

"Uh, so what do you suggest, Ivan?"

"Oh, I mean you should handle it however you see fit. But, fundamentally, it's best to find an efficient and lasting solution that allows all future arrivals in Wildfire Territory to instantly benefit from this 'Enlightenment'." Ivan shrugged.

"Well, that does sound reasonable," Andrew stroked his chin, pondering.

Therefore, this current stone "facade" arch was created.

When Ivan had casually suggested it, he had no idea Andrew would take his advice literally and enlisted him as the "laborer" for creating the gateway!

What depressed Ivan the most was Andrew's intention to forge not just one, but eight facades, to be placed in eight different directions around Wildfire Territory.

To then inject the Power of Enlightenment into these stone arches.

Essentially transforming the eight facades into eight Magic Artifacts!

This way, everyone coming to Wildfire Territory in the future, regardless of which gate they enter, would naturally receive the blessing of "Enlightenment".
