Chapter 188: Battle of the Brigade (Part 2)

The Big Catfolk nodded and looked at Miss Maid beside him, who glanced in a direction and then gently nodded her head.

Reed, with a pipe still in his mouth, finally took it out and suggested to the opposing Paladin, "Knight, how about a one-on-one duel with me?"

The latter exchanged glances with his companion, both recognizing him as a native Paladin, and shook their heads.

Though also a Paladin, as the Invoker, he was certainly different from the former's rigidity.

Reed sighed, tidied the golden ring hanging under his luxurious fiery mane, not knowing whether he was lamenting the Invoker Paladin's incomprehensible pursuit or his own kindness unappreciated by others. He turned back to Bakins and said, "Then, let's do it this way."

Before the two realized what was happening, Bakins threw a rounded grenade forward.

"What the heck!"

The Iron Defender shouted angrily.

The two could hardly believe that the once courteous Lion Paladin turned around with a dirty trick.

They simultaneously dodged aside, but the grenade did not explode; instead, white smoke billowed out, quickly shrouding the Forest.

"Smoke bomb," the Iron Defender was urgent in his heart, with the wounded Two-Handed Swordsman still over there: "Palmer, go save him first!"

He immediately said to his companion.

The Paladin nodded, but just as he entered the smoke, a strong wind came from the front. He hastily raised his shield, and with a loud sound, the mighty force made him step back involuntarily. He looked up to find it was the Lion Paladin from before.

Missing the strike, Reed quickly crouched and lunged, disappearing in another direction.

The Paladin was astonished, as a Heavy Armored Profession, he never thought a Paladin could be this agile.

Though surprised, his combat instincts remained, with the gemstone on his longsword hilt slightly glimmering, as a circle of dark aura spread from beneath his feet in all directions. Wherever the aura passed, even in thick fog, every blade of grass and tree was imprinted in his mind.

He immediately sensed a shadow trying to circle behind him, and turned to slash.

Reed was somewhat surprised too, suddenly halting to avoid the sword strike.

"Saritu's knight," Reed glanced at the deep dark aura beneath his feet. He looked up, stepped back, sighing, "Young man, it's still time to turn back from the false path, the power given by the Dark Saints doesn't come at a simple cost."

The Dragonfire Guild Paladin turned a deaf ear and attacked with another sword.

Reed blocked his sword with a clanging sound, a light pattern appearing on the Big Catfolk's arm armor, explosively repelling the attack. The Big Catfolk swung horizontally again, and the Dragonfire Guild Paladin raised his shield instinctively, but Reed didn't launch another attack.

That Paladin looked ahead somewhat in surprise, only to find the Big Catfolk turning around, still a bit stunned, when suddenly, the mist split, and a whip shadow swept across.

The Paladin couldn't react in time, getting hit squarely by the whip. The whip struck his helmet with a dull 'thud,' leaving a dent on it, while the Paladin himself flew, rolling on the ground.

Only then did the Big Catfolk turn around, looking down at the young one, with pale silver pupils shimmering with faint, compassionate light.

He gently shook his tail—hailing from the Holy White Plains as a Lion Holy Sanctuary Guardian, but before the identity of a Paladin, he was first a Lion. He had told Fang Hong a story that all young male Lions must complete their fateful trials—

The surviving warriors could complete their coming-of-age ceremony, while the unfortunate ones had long been buried in the prairie wilderness.

The Paladin shook his head, without sustaining fatal injuries, coughed trying to get up. But upon pulling his hand, he found no movement and looked down at the gauntlet, hearing 'crackling' sounds—a layer of ice unexpectedly formed.

There's an Elementalist nearby.

The thought immediately flashed in the Paladin's mind.

But a tall shadow had already appeared before him.

In fact, when Luo Yu chanted the spell, the Ranger Captain hidden among rocks already sensed it, but as he raised his bow, suddenly a point of shimmer in the Flat Cypress Forest caught his attention.

He calmly lowered the bow, picked up the Communication Crystal, inputting a few words. Then patiently looked toward the direction, thought for a moment, picked up a stone, and threw it. The stone landed, bouncing once.

Firelight flashed from the Flat Cypress Forest direction in the distance.

A bullet accurately hit where the stone landed.

Then two more bullets, successively hit nearby the left and right corners, sparking a splash.

"Short gun, three-stage combo, Musketeer."

"Distance within 160 feet."

A series of data immediately appeared in the Ranger Captain's mind, he rolled, raised the bow, and shot an arrow to where he envisioned.

Then shifted sideways, drew the bow and arrow again, shooting another round.

In fact, when Bakins saw a splash, he realized his attack missed. Extremely keen, he instinctively wanted to roll forward—but at that moment, he suddenly felt something. He stopped, crouching slightly.

An arrow whizzed past over his head.

Then another arrow landed where he planned to roll.

Bakins decisively tossed his short gun away, letting it fall among broken stones.
