Monster Gacha System: Becoming The Final Boss

Chapter 075 | Closing Matters

In the outskirts of the Howling Village, Damien calmly watched as the Lycanthropes began the reconstruction of their settlement. From young to old, every Lycan aided in the recovery of their village, which was an intriguing sight for the Aberrant.

He turned his attention towards the crimson-haired girl assisting the Lycanthropes. It appears that the species of werewolves has opened up to the vampire, becoming friendly acquaintances rather than indifferent strangers.

'She's working hard,' Damien thought as his lips steadily curved into a subtle smile. Alongside them was Eclipse, who was giving them a hand in the reconstruction effort. Due to her spatial capabilities, it was easy for her to haul the necessary materials for the recovery.

"It shouldn't take long until the Howling Village is ready for the counter-assault." Behind the black-suited young man, a voice rang out, attracting his gaze. It was none other than the Leader of Nightfang, Boris.

"To be honest, I found it unfortunate that Nightfang was wholly in the village during the assault of the Shadow Division. Most of my people were busy hunting preachers across the northern fringes and gathering information from our Howlers." Boris sighed to himself.

"The damage now wouldn't have been as extensive if we had assisted the Wolfenguard during the battle. Now, we are left dealing with the aftermath of a battle where Nightfang barely fought." The middle-aged Lycan glanced at Damien.

"If it wasn't for you handling the main force of the assault, the Howling Village would have been devastated into oblivion. So, you have my thanks, Damien." Boris nodded at the black-suited young man.

"No need for the thanks. I did what needed to be done." Damien shook his head and added. "But I didn't expect the Lycanthropes to be participating in the battle against the Abominable and the Shadow Division."

Boris chuckled and responded. "The moment the Abominable touched one of ours. It was personal. Just because we act like hermits doesn't mean we actually are. We might appear peaceful, but we were savages like Vampires of the Clan."

"Perhaps, time in the New World has dulled our instincts to a dangerous level. After all, this is the first peaceful age for the Lycanthropes, even if our numbers were delicately close to extinction." The middle-aged Lycan sighed to himself.

In the distance, a crimson-haired girl was headed towards them. Boris took a deep breath and muttered. "I should take my leave to give time for both of you."

"Hey, any news from your other half in Cambridge Bay?" Standing in front of Damien, Hecate rested her hand on her hips and questioned while tilting her head. "There should have been movements by now, right?"

Hearing her, the black-suited young man nodded and replied. "Yes, it seems that the fortified colony is completely compromised. But Devon has already reported to his superior, the fifth Paragon."

"The mountain bandits attacked us in broad daylight without any movement from the law enforcement. It's fair to say that the two are affiliated with one another." He explained and added.

"I have already annihilated the mountain bandits in Cambridge Bay, and the law enforcement is currently after me for massacring citizens of the fortified colony. I'm currently awaiting news from Devon."

"I had him handle the governor of the colony. It shouldn't take long for the intelligence to arrive." When Hecate heard his words, she nodded in understanding and stretched her arms. "That's a piece of good news."

Damien glanced at her and smirked. "It appears that my partner is getting along with the Lycanthropes. You could be the first vampire in the New World, helping your so-called mortal enemies rebuild their settlement."

Hecate clicked her tongue in annoyance and remarked. "I'd rather not talk about it. But they aren't bad people, to say the least. They have changed a lot in the New World, so they're better than the Clan in this aspect."

"It could be because of the death of their progenitor. After all, without the apex of their species, they lost the ability to transform others into Lycans, like how vampires can transform humans into something like them."

Hearing him, the crimson-haired girl raised her eyebrows and muttered. "A dangerous thought you have there, Damien. But I agree. The capabilities of acquiring more of our kind through infection made warfare the easiest path to the supremacy of the vampires."

"The same could be said with the Lycanthropes, but they changed when they realized that their numbers wouldn't grow as easily as before. Killing the progenitor of the Clan could change the vampires. But to have the capabilities to do so is a long way off."

"We are too weak, right now... I'm too weak." She mumbled her last words to herself before shaking her head. "I'll continue helping them. Tell me if anything new happened in Cambridge Bay."

"Alright, I'll bring news when it comes." Damien watched as the crimson-haired girl walked away and returned to the Howling Village, assisting the Lycanthropes in their recovery efforts.

Meanwhile...

In the Fortified Colony of Cambridge Bay, Damien stood within an abandoned building. It was where the headquarters of the mountain bandits resided. Surrounding him were corpses, their crimson blood splattered across the wall and floor. The mountain bandits were annihilated.

"This should be the last of them." He muttered under his breath and noticed police sirens outside the abandoned building. The law enforcement officers have surrounded the devastated headquarters of the mountain bandits, intending to arrest or execute him on the spot.

"Surrender now, Jaeger. You have been considered a fugitive for massacring citizens of Cambridge Bay. The SIGIL has abandoned you." Outside, the sheriff of the fortified colony announced through a megaphone.

Beside the sheriff were officers hiding behind their police vehicles, ready for what was about to come. But before any of them could make a move, an echoing whistle escaped the abandoned building in front of them.

The sheriff watched with a tinge of dread as a silhouette stepped out of the shadows that dimmed the interiors of the abandoned building. A young black-suited man with a fedora stood with poise, unbothered by the innumerable guns pointed at him.

"I believe that you should already be aware of my imperviousness to guns, correct? You would need a lot more than pistols, shotguns, and rifles to be able to even tingle me." Damien remarked while staring at the law enforcement officers.

"And a fugitive? On whose orders? We have already reported that the Fortified Colony of Cambridge Bay has been compromised by the Federation and SIGIL. Sooner or later, the federal military and another SIGIL Division would come."

"Who knows what would happen to the traitors of humanity?" His sable-tinted gaze narrowed as he glared at them with indifference and coldness. "All of you have colluded with the Abominable Cult. A sect that worships the corpse of a dead Aberrant."

"Not only that, you have allied yourselves with the mountain bandits and an infamous terrorist organization, the Shadow Division. Isn't that quite a lot of crimes, don't you think?" He smirked at the police officers and walked forward.

"Even if I killed all of you, I would be pardoned for what I have done, as all of you are nothing more than traitors of humanity. But it isn't too late yet, you can choose for the better." As Damien walked through the police cordon, the law enforcement officers gave way.

It didn't take long before he stood in front of the sheriff. "I am confident that all of you have families you want to take care of. So, is this really the way? Betraying humanity and colluding with those who desire anarchy?"

"Make your choice, sheriff," Damien whispered while the sheriff felt his skin lose its color. No matter how many favors they owed to the Abominable Cult. They didn't want to be deemed as traitors of humankind, their own species.

"Besides, from what I heard. The Abominable Cult is capable of unleashing and controlling snowstorms with ease. That much was confirmed by the SIGIL." He looked at them and added. "It seems that all of you have been fooled."

His words echoed throughout the streets as the police officers dropped their guns, one after another. Their resolve waned as shadows formed on the face of the sheriff. Damien shook his head and walked away.

While doing so, he opened his status display and saw that it was time.

"Barely four thousand Terror Points, but it should be enough." Damien inwardly nodded and continued walking away without looking back at the law enforcement officers behind him. They weren't much of use for the black-suited young man. After all, they had already given up.
