Monster Gacha System: Becoming The Final Boss

Chapter 087 | Aftermath of the Forsaken Battle

A couple of days have passed since the battle within the Valley for Forsaken. The Lycanthropes returned to their home, the Howling Village. Alongside them was Damien and his partner, Hecate.

Sitting beside the balcony where the ray of warmth pierced through the curtains, Damien sipped his tea while reading a book from the underground library of the manor.

Inside the book was a detailed history of the Lycanthropes, providing him with a perspective on the world from which the Lycans and Vampires originated.

Their former world was roughly the same as the New World. It was riddled with looming black towers.

Though unlike humanity, who understood that these structures came from Heaven's Fall.

The origin of the black towers within the former world of the Lycans and Vampires remained disputed. However, one ancient species might have seen the structures' origin.

"Demonia..." Damien muttered under his breath and glanced at his slumbering partner, embraced by the soft and comfortable bed.

This was the first time he had heard of the ancient species. It made him remember the progenitor sealed within the body of his partner.

An old one, far older than the Clan or the Howling Village.

Another knowledge he discovered from the book was the existence of Aberrants residing in the former world. They were significantly stronger than those in the New World.

Each acted as a primordial god whose dominions remained untouched by those with sapience. It was because of them that the Vampires and Lycanthropes migrated out.

"The black towers..." He didn't forget his dream to uncover the mysteries of Heaven's Fall. It was his calling after awakening in the far future of his world.

The fact that these structures existed before their descent signified that their existence was more of a mystery than one would have expected.

If he wanted to know more about the black towers, he had to learn more about Demonia. Perhaps, they could provide him with a perspective on these structures.

A knock rang from the front door of the bedroom, making his eyebrows rise. Closing the book, he said. "Come inside."

The luxurious wooden door opened, unveiling a little girl whose ears stood upright and tail wagged with concealed excitement.

Damien's lips curved into a subtle smile as he took another sip from his tea. "Alice... Why have you come? Is there something you need?"

Alice walked forward and noticed Hecate still in deep slumber. Her innocent eyes glanced at the black-suited young man as she asked. "Is vampire sister alright?"

"She's asleep. It might take a while, but she'll wake up." Damien replied to the little girl who sat on the chair in front of him.

"I heard about how you killed a giant monster with vampire sister. I didn't expect that the two of you would be so strong." Alice remarked, her eyes gleaming with admiration.

"I want to be strong like you and protect the village with my older brothers. But I'm too weak." She lowered her head, her eyes slumping alongside her tail.

Damien chuckled at the sight and patted her head. "If you want to become stronger, you must train until your body breaks apart and rebuilds itself."

"Once you reach the pinnacle of what you could train to become, you can reach out to Block 7. Perhaps, you might be able to gain experience by becoming one of us."

"So... You're already poaching my little sister, huh?" Leaning on the doorway, Boris remarked while looking at the black-suited young man.

"She's fated to become a Jaeger. I can see it in her eyes." Damien didn't back down, staring at the middle-aged Lycanthrope.

Boris sighed, understanding the personality of her little sister. "Too curious for her own good."

"It's good to seek knowledge. As long as you are ready for it, there's nothing wrong with learning more about the world." The black-suited young man calmly affirmed.

"Perhaps you're right about that." Boris sighed to himself and added. "When are the two of you returning to New Janus? I heard that the White Devil has been causing trouble in SIGIL."

"Trouble?" Damien raised his eyebrows, somewhat confused about what the middle-aged Lycanthrope meant. Boris widened his eyes for a moment before coughing.

"Ehem, the White Devil just stormed the SIGIL Headquarters in New York. I heard that she was executing some higher echelons of the organization in cold blood."

"The Federation is holding a trial against her so-called massacre and wanted other Paragons to oversee it." Hearing the news from the middle-aged Lycanthrope, Damien was astounded.

Just when he thought he was causing problems for Block 7 in the northern fringes of the New World. His boss was already exterminating politicians back home.

"Any more news about it?" Damien asked, wanting to know more. Boris pondered for a moment and responded. "Another Paragon was also being charged with her."

"The fifth Paragon of Block 5, the Intelligence Director of SIGIL."

"I should have expected no less from Miss Alastair." Damien shook his head, giving way to an exasperated sigh. He turned his gaze towards Boris and stood up.

"It appears my partner and I will have to take our leave."

"I won't stop you." Boris smiled at the black-suited young man and added. "Get this word to the White Devil. If the Block 7 needs some help, the Howling Village will be happy to assist you."

"And whose word is that?" Damien asked with the same smile as before, while Boris chuckled before replying. "It's everyone's word."

"The Howling Village and the northern fringes of the New World owe you for handling that mess of a cult. Without your help, things would have escalated and become troublesome."

"All of you owe no one," Damien uttered, but added. "However, if you want to help. You're free to do so."

"Hecate and I were doing our job, which was to investigate the growing cult and handle them appropriately." He patted Alice's soft head. "We will meet again in the future, little Alice."

She bobbed her head up and down, her tail wagging as she was dragged away by her old brother. Silence permeated across the room as the black-suited young man looked at his partner.

A few days have already passed, and he would be lying if he said he wasn't somewhat troubled about the condition of Hecate.

It was worrying that she hadn't woken up yet from her deep slumber. No matter how much she waited, her velvet eyes never opened. Completely shut from the world.

Damien stepped forward, standing beside her bed and touching her pale face. "It better be worth it to sleep this long, Hecate."

"Otherwise, I'll have to punish you for making me worry." He whispered into her ear before leaving the room, preparing to depart from the Howling Village.

He initially planned to take the same route as before, through the airship. But with Griffin under his command, he didn't find the need to take the slow pace of the aerial transport.

"I could probably shield both of us through Majesty," he mumbled to himself while taking hold of his briefcase.

Looking at it, he recalled the intelligence operative belonging to Block 5. He hadn't seen Devon since he left the Fortified Colony of Cambridge Bay.

According to rumors from the Lycanthropes, the colony was seized by the Federation after the horrible news of its occupants being compromised.

It appears that the federal military was also trying to find them.

Unfortunately, these people weren't planning to give them medals for the operation in the northern fringes. It was for this reason that he avoided utilizing an airship to return.

The airport of the fortified colony would undoubtedly be heavily cordoned by the military. A bit too problematic, not worth the risk of what might happen upon contact.

Carrying a duffel bag behind his back, Damien summoned Gryphos while heading towards the bedroom where Hecate lay.

Grasped beneath his fingers was his briefcase, an Armament capable of unleashing a beam of light that was extremely penetrative.

Reaching the bedroom, he opened its front door and saw a crimson-haired girl staring at the windows where the warm rays shone with brilliance.

Damien's sable-tinted eyes widened as he unknowingly dropped the briefcase onto the floor and muttered. "Hecate?"

The crimson-haired girl looked at him, her eyes shining as her rosy lips curved into a smirk. "You don't look so good, Damien."

Hecate stretched her arms upward, yawning. The black-suited young man walked towards her and promptly ground both of his knuckles into her temple. "Who do you think the culprit was?"

"Ack!" The crimson-haired vampire could barely resist as she clenched her teeth and endured through the grinding session of Damien's fist.

Damien shifted the chair closer to her bed and sat on it while gazing at his partner. "I want you to be honest, Hecate. So, what actually happened?"

"Your deep slumber shouldn't have been the effect of your Microcosm's interruption. The reason must be something else, right?" He questioned his partner, who wryly smiled.
