Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 166: The array is broken

Vyrion instantly snatched the chit from my hand and read its content.

"But why do you need this?" he asked, his eyebrows rising in confusion.

"I already told you—the less you know about me, the better," I replied before asking, "Will you do it or not?"

"Of course I will," he immediately accepted. "But you can't go back on your words."

"You don't need to worry about that. I will come back in three days to receive it."

This time I didn't harass the awakeners and returned straight to the city.

Now-now, don't think that I was feeling bad for them. I had already looted most of the awakeners from the front half of the camp, and Tyrion's group was swindling the back part, so there wasn't a need to keep wasting my Soulforce on something unfruitful. Moreover, there was something else that was bugging me. Even after the army had turned into complete chaos, Theon or any other Mid-Tier awakener didn't take any action. The weird part was that all three of them had been absent from the camp since the previous day.

When I returned to the wall, Jambavan and Ume were sitting cross-legged, absorbing the Soulforce from the Mid-Tier Soul Stones that I had brought back, while Vyaghra was standing at the edge, staring into the army camps.

"Vyaghra, do you know where the Mid-Tier awakeners went?" I asked, deactivating the blessing.

"I can't sense their presence in the camp since yesterday," Vyaghra replied. "I will infiltrate the forest at night where their leaders are staying to check what's going on."

He did say that, but I was having this eerie feeling that something was definitely off.

"Is it alright to walk so openly without your mask?" he asked, looking at me.

"Oh, I completely forgot about that," I gasped and instantly took out the mask from the inventory.

The moment I wore the mask, Ume and Jambavan shot open their eyes in shock.

Before I could react, Ume pushed me to the floor by my head while Jambavan and Vyaghra stood before us, their bodies radiating in black and crimson.

"Wh-what hap—"

I was about to speak, but suddenly I felt an overwhelming rise in Soulforce from outside the city.

In the next instant, an ear-piercing sound echoed as a violent beam of intense purple energy struck the barrier just below us.

The city wall began trembling, several cracks appeared on the array, and—smash!

The array shattered as the energy beam tore through, striking the walls of the city.

Thud...

"Wh-what the hell just happened?" I murmured, opening my eyes.

I was sitting on a huge petal of a plum blossom, with Jambavan, Vyaghra, and Ume standing beside me.

The petal was floating in the air, and the wall where we had been standing had fallen, leaving a gap wide enough to let ten elephants enter side by side.

"Are you alright?" Ume asked, her eyes locked ahead.

"Th-that Soulforce," I mumbled, rising to my feet. "It was definitely the Soulforce of Nyx."

"That can't be possible!" Jambavan exclaimed. "The attack carried the Soulforce of the True Sage realm. Ya wouldn't have survived against her back then if she were really at that realm."

"They won't be attacking us with the same level of attack again," Ume declared. "If the attack really carried that woman's Soulforce, then she must have used some technique to temporarily increase her realm to break the array. However..."

Ume reached the edge of the floating petal and continued, "The city is defenseless now. Prepare yourself to fight the army of thousands."

"Their array is broken!!!" Theon announced, coming out of the forest on a horse, with the snake-face and bald head sprinting on their feet beside him.

"Attackkkkk!!!!!"

The army of awakeners, already frustrated from hunger and the array attacks of the past few days, roared in excitement and bolted toward the city as they finally found something to vent their fury on.

With a slight movement of Ume's hand, the petal carpet descended to the ground in front of the hole where the energy had struck the wall.

"Raj, fight them all at your full strength," Ume ordered. "After this battle, you will be able to reach the realm you desire."

My focus turned to the army of thousands that was getting closer with each passing second.

It wasn't my first time fighting against such numbers. I had already fought thousands of beasts before, but they were all mindless and carried straightforward attacks. However, this time I was up against intelligent species—and all of them were awakeners. A slight mistake could cost me a huge price.

A bead of sweat trickled down my face as I stepped forward.

"Don't worry," Ume whispered, grabbing my hand. "We will step in when necessary."

Giving me a slight push, she said, "Now show me the demon that I have only heard about from Vyaghra."

Till this moment, Ume hadn't been present in any of the battles I fought before. Thinking about it that way was already putting performance pressure on me.

"Oy bastards, prepare yourselves!" I shouted toward the approaching army. "I won't be pulling any punches today since my fiancée is watching."

I moved my hand toward my chest and took out the Vajra, making it seem as if I had actually pulled it from inside my chest.

The army immediately slowed down, seeing the illogical act I had just performed.

"W-were the rumours really true?" the one at the front gasped.

"What rumours?" the awakeners beside him asked.

"I heard that the leader of Forlorn City, Lucifer Morningstar, is an immortal," he explained. "Lady Nyx, Sir Charlie, and Sir Kevin attacked him simultaneously, but he still escaped with severed limbs. B-but now take a look at him. His limbs are regenerated, and he even pulled a sword from his chest."

"Hah! That is obviously an exaggerated lie and nothing more," one of them scoffed, speeding up. "Let's see him regenerate when I smash his head."

To prevent them from getting too close to the city, I began sprinting toward the incoming army and murmured in a low voice,

"Vivi, activate Eyes of the Fallen."
