Rivers of the Night

Chapter 593: Mirror (2)

Theron's eyes glowed fiercer and fiercer.

What was the opposite of Chill and Heat?

The answer might be Heat and Chill if you were talking about mirrors, but that wouldn't get Theron anywhere. It was a meaningless distinction.

Instead, he had to go one layer deeper.

His Water Mana produced Chill and produced Heat. From the depths of his soul, it was taking his emotions and transferring them out and onto the world, turning his calm into ice and his rage into flames.

What his Dark Mana would have to do then…

Was suppress Chill and suppress Heat.

It was the perfect mirror, and it was precisely because of a comprehension just like this that Theron had gotten into this mess in the first place.

The Dark River was a system that was chaotic, but forced into calm.

The Haven of Dark Mana was a system of calm, but forced into chaos.

One looked chaotic from the outside but was incredibly predictable, while the other looked calm from the outside but was a single push away from becoming chaotic.

Each was suppressing their true nature, and this was the key to it all.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.

When Theron grasped this key concept, and he forced it toward becoming the core of his two new Mandates, he began grasping Laws so fast that it felt as though the planet itself might begin to shake and quake.

Eighteen Bronze Laws.Six Silver Laws. Two Gold Laws.

Thirty-six Bronze Laws.Twelve Silver Laws.Four Gold Laws.And four Mandates.

They intertwined with Theron's body, thrumming and dancing amongst themselves.

Theron's hair danced wildly, an indigo aura peeling off of him in waves.

Unable to restrain himself, he raised his head to the skies and roared.

The Law of Absolute Calm and the Law of Unrestrained Fury appeared before him again, just within arm's reach and yet feeling so very far away all the same.

But this time, Theron had no intention of letting them go.

As the last of his Silver and Bronze Laws slipped into place, the four Mandates within his body—two complete and two incomplete—became almost like magnets.

And then the last bit of Theron's body slipped right into place…

Forming his Celestial Body and swallowing up a whole fifth of his Meridian Channels with Water Mana Meridians.

Yet, this time, there were no Dark Mana Meridians swallowed up. In fact, new, arching, branching paths were quickly being formed one after another.

It was like, upon recognizing the other two Mandates, his body responded in kind, playing off one another and forging them to perfection.

Dark Mana Meridians he had lost before came back to life and intertwined with his Water Mana Meridians, forming a double layer—what looked like a malformed second set of Meridians.

And then the world fell into complete silence.

Theron collapsed, gasping for breath on the ground. He looked up at the Haven of Dark Mana above him, his gaze slowly calming as his body churned with strength.

He was ready. He was right there now. He bet that if he called forth his Gold Mancy Tribulation, it would undoubtedly be at the Primal level.

His Dark Mana Resonance was at the Celestial level, as was his Water Mana Resonance. Together, it was simply impossible for them not to form a Primal Tribulation.

However, Theron couldn't do that here.

If he triggered his Tribulation above the Haven, he would ruin it and wouldn't be able to come back here once he was a Quasi Dome of Heaven expert.

At the same time… to Theron, his Tribulation was almost like a trump card. He was deep within enemy territory, and his enemies could turn against him at any time.

Of course, right now, he didn't feel any threat from Matriarch Macie at all. He felt that he could defeat her in a one-on-one battle without risking his life now.

But… he still needed the Nightingale Sect, and they might be too antsy if he progressed to Gold Mancy after they saw how much strength he had at Silver Mancy.

'For now, we'll wait.'

Theron pushed himself up. The strength he had gained just now was probably far more than anyone crossing a Tribulation would gain. In fact, it was probably more than if he had crossed his own before forming his new Mandates.

Clenching and unclenching his fists, Theron knew that he had gained a great boon this time.

This Dark Mana Resonance especially… it might be better than even the Mandates.

Mandates were good, but a Resonance—especially ones like Theron's own—could change everything.

From speed of cultivation to battle style…

Theron almost felt the need to feel out just how he had changed, but he was running out of time. It was about time he returned to the Sect.

**

Theron returned to the Nightingale Sect. This time, he took all of his belongings with him.

If Matriarch Macie dared to try and check his person for valuable items again, he would just have to teach her a lesson this time. But he certainly wouldn't leave a trump card like the Alpha behind this time, and it was also about time he started exploring what else the unnamed cultivator had in his spatial ring.

That said, Theron could hardly think about any of this right now. That was because there was a great burning sensation coming from his eyes, one that had been building up during his return.

It seemed that his [Entangling Blood Vein Pupils] were progressing to the Cloud Resonance level, and it would allow him to control the Mana a grade above Gold Resonance now, but the process was a bit more painful than he was expecting.

Then again, he had never personally experienced it before, since he had taken the eyes from the unnamed cultivator to begin with.

He still had a few days left, so things should be fine, but what he didn't expect was to return to his Immortal Cave to find Lyra not recovering, but sitting on the edge of his bed with an odd stare of determination in her eyes.

Theron shook his head inwardly. He already knew this was going to be troublesome, especially since he had realized he needed her now thanks to dots he had recently connected.
