CH256 Space Loop II
***
Of course, implementing the Space Loop was its own challenge, as it required an understanding of Spatial Laws.
Alas, since he didn't have much of that, Alex fell back on what he did have—a Spatial Formation he had comprehended from what he believed to be the teachings of the World itself.
Since the Spatial Formation could, in theory, create a fully independent space—so long as he had enough energy to power the formation until the space's complete birth—Alex wagered he could also use it to create a space with infinitely looping boundaries.
Now that he was no longer completely clueless about the functions of the components of the formation, there were certain aspects he could tweak.
For example, the created space wouldn't need to hold any physical matter, only pure energy.
But by far the most important change concerned its borders. Alex needed to somehow instruct the formation to construct the space in such a way that anything reaching its edges would be returned—looped back to a spatial coordinate within the created space.
Thus, he would achieve confinement without stripping the Spatial Energy of its free-moving nature.
Alex, however, had absolutely no certainty about what he was doing and was essentially groping in the dark.
Rather than say he engineered the solution, it was more accurate to say he pleaded with the formation to do so on his behalf.
Well, maybe it wasn't that bad.
At the very least, he now understood which components of the formation controlled what he needed, so at least he knew 'who' to beg and not the entire 'organisation'... or so he consoled himself.
Self-mockery aside, as reckless as Alex knew this process was, the only reason he went ahead with it was because it was going to be an Array Formation and not a Rune Tattoo.
Even in failure, no rare or irreplaceable resource such as the unique Voidheart Core would be lost. At most, a few painstakingly accumulated Spatial Energy motes might be consumed.
Alex had finished designing his makeshift formation about two days prior to the briefing he gave his Fang Company officers, just before they launched the raids on the Kellerman supply lines.
As usual, drawing the Array Formation itself was the easy part. That only took him about a day. The venue, of course, was his Sanctuary Pocket Space—right in front of the Bonsai Tree.
The truly interesting part came after he finished drawing the formation.
The Bonsai Tree moved.
Just before Alex activated the formation, one of its low-hanging, tentacle-like branches stretched out and rubbed his head—like an adult chastising a naughty child—before drifting toward the formation itself.
It then injected a pulse of that familiar golden energy of Providence (or, as Alex called it, Daddy Golden Energy) into the array, causing subtle yet significant changes, before withdrawing and leaving Alex to activate the formation.
'All according to plan.' Alex wore a sly grin inwardly.
There was a reason Alex had chosen to draw the Runic Formation directly in front of the Bonsai Tree after all.
He activated the formation using the Spatial Energy supplied by the Voidheart Core resting in his hand.
Almost instantly, Alex understood the purpose of the subtle changes made by Daddy Golden Energy.
The moment the formation flared to life, it glowed with an intense golden hue as the individual runes detached from the Array. The once circular arrangement stretched out into a long, straight line of runes. That line then split, twisted, and rejoined, reforming itself into a vast quadrilateral frame.
Then, like origami folding upon itself, the quadrilateral runic structure collapsed inward.
Through his Spirit Sight, Alex glimpsed a vague scene that shook him—it was as though the very fabric of space was being folded and torn alongside the quadrilateral formation.
The runes and the space they bound began to twist, forming loops and impossible geometries Alex had never even imagined. Yet among the bizarre distortions, there was one loop he recognised, one that made the truth clear.
A Möbius Loop.
The presence of that loop told him everything he needed to know.
The formation, and the fragment of spatial fabric ensnared within it, were contorting themselves to fulfil his endless spatial loop requirement.
At last, as though guided by unseen hands folding a paper model, the quadrilateral construct resolved into its final shape.
A three-dimensional Hexahedral Runic Formation, small enough to fit in his palm.
Unfortunately, before Alex could fully grasp the final shape of the Spatial Fabric's loop, the hexahedral blazed with a piercing light, as though deliberately veiling its secrets. Even the Spirit Sight of his Truth-Seeker eyes could not pierce it.
Then, as though aware of Alex's intent, the glowing hexahedral shot forward and embedded itself into the Voidheart Core's left ventricle. There, it glutinously drank the Spatial Energy motes within, stabilising the looped space it had created.
Once the internal space stabilised, the crystalline flesh of the Voidheart Core stretched over the runic construct, sealing it in place until it manifested outwardly as a golden crystal on the heart's glass-like surface.
With that, the Voidheart Core—a natural factory of Spatial Energy—was now perfectly merged with the Hexahedral Storage Rune, a looping space that could house and regulate its output. The result was far beyond Alex's original hopes.
And, in typical Daddy Golden Energy fashion, the gift did not end there.
Through his OmniRune Core, Alex discovered he had established a permanent link with the Voidheart Core itself.
The golden crystal of the Hexahedral Loop was more than just a physical form—it was a spatial anchor woven into the very fabric of reality, ensuring the looping space remained tethered to the Voidheart Core's coordinate.
Its entrance and exit would forever be fixed to that point in space.
At the same time, the formation had also been anchored to the Sanctuary Pocket Space where it was drawn.
Since the Sanctuary was an interspatial dimension opened within the OmniRune Core itself, it made sense that OmniRune would establish a direct connection to the formation once it became part of its functions.
Through that connection, Alex ran a diagnostic on the Spatial Loop Storage Formation to better understand the changes.
He quickly discovered that the formation's physical anchor—the golden crystal—not only merged with the Voidheart Core's crystalline body, but the rune formation itself had also fused with the Rune Tattoo engraved upon the heart.
The result was that the Spatial Looping Storage Formation inherited some of the Rune Tattoo's unique properties.
Now, the looping formation could selectively absorb spatial energy motes from its surroundings—particularly those produced by the Voidheart Core itself—and funnel them into the internal looping space. There, the energy would endlessly fold back upon itself. Each time it reached a boundary, it was redirected to the centre, trapped in perpetual circulation.
The space was dynamic too. By consuming some of its stored energy, it could expand to increase capacity whenever needed. That meant Alex would never have to worry about it "overflowing."
Just like the Rune Tattoo, however, energy could only be withdrawn under specific conditions. In this case, only a prompt from OmniRune would open a tiny slit in the looping space, allowing Spatial Energy to flow out for Alex's use.
But the trait that truly caught Alex by surprise was its anchoring nature.
The looping storage space existed in a higher-energy realm beyond the physical world. Its only anchors into the material plane were the golden crystal embedded in the Voidheart Core and the mark left behind in the Sanctuary where the formation had first been drawn.
This meant Alex could only draw energy through either of the two anchors: the Voidheart Core itself (a mobile anchor) or the Sanctuary's formation mark (a stationary anchor).
That much, Alex expected.
What he hadn't anticipated was the hidden bonus: since the two anchors were linked, he could recall the Voidheart Core back to himself—or rather into the Sanctuary—at will, by consuming some amount of stored Spatial Energy which was dependant on the recall distance.
So long as the loop space retained energy, the Voidheart Core could never truly be lost.
When Alex learned of the Kellermans' lifeblood, the Layman Mana Stone Mine, he knew immediately he had to exploit this trait. The Voidheart Core would not only cripple their economy but also feed on the vast mana reserves to produce the Spatial Energy he needed.
Two birds, one stone.
And now, with the Voidheart Core safely returned to the Sanctuary Pocket Space, Alex could finally say with satisfaction: everything had gone exactly according to plan.
