So I Became a Witch and Started Doing Daily Quests

Ch. 187

Chapter 187: Child of the Plane’s Will

A sharp sensation of weightlessness surged as Janna deactivated the 【Spirit Phase Travel】 talent and returned to the Material Plane.

“Hoo...” Gazing at the mess scattered across the floor, Janna let out a long breath of relief, having successfully completed the 【Spirit Summoning】.

“This time, the contracted creature turned out to be far better than I expected.”

Aside from its dual attributes of water and lightning, Janna found that the potential growth of the Lightning Cloud was far beyond her initial expectations.

Unlike the Flame Guardian, which was a more rule-bound elemental creature, the Lightning Cloud felt more like a manifestation of the laws of the 【Calamity Plane】.

The Flame Guardian, although naturally attuned to the 【Flame】 law, was still classified as a 【Transcendent Creature】 by nature and could not yet wield the power of the laws. The same was true for the Thornflower Sprite.

However, the Lightning Cloud was different. Rather than calling it an elemental creature, it would be more accurate to describe it as the favored child of the plane’s will.

Though it had yet to condense a 【Law Fragment】, the very existence of the Lightning Cloud was already a projection of the 【Calamity Plane】’s laws.

It was composed of laws, though it had not yet transcended them.

But, as long as it was supplied with sufficient energy, the Lightning Cloud had a significant chance of evolving into a terrifying existence that mastered the 【Calamity】 law in the future.

Even though the 【Flame】 law was one of the immensely powerful 【Main-Class】 laws, the Flame Guardian, given its current aptitude, could not even glimpse the power of the laws before becoming a Flame Lord.

The Lightning Cloud, however, was only one step away from condensing a 【Law Fragment】. Perhaps by absorbing just one more elemental essence of the same attribute, it might directly gain mastery.

“Still, Enyard has its own unique strengths. After advancing to a Flame Lord, Enyard will officially possess the capabilities of a Lord-class creature—”

Just like how undead wizards could command Undead Lords to summon large undead armies and unleash an “Undead Catastrophe,” the evolved Flame Lord Enyard would gain the power to forcibly command all lesser fire element creatures within its territory.

Likewise, as the contractor, Janna could fully leverage the Flame Lord’s prestige to intimidate and indirectly command those lower-level fire element creatures, unleashing a “Flame Catastrophe.”

By that time, it would also mark the most glorious moment for a summoning wizard.

After all, the charm of summoning lay in the overwhelming swarm tactics. “Back to where you belong—”

With a sweep of the 【Cleaning Spell】, Janna cleared away all the ritual materials on the experimental table that had already been rendered unusable.

“Is it really this late already—?”

The sunlight had grown dim. Gazing out at the twilight sky beyond the window, Janna rubbed her sore shoulders.

Having woken up late and spent a long time on the ritual, her Monday day off had slipped by with barely any rest.

Still, having grown accustomed to such a busy life, Janna didn’t feel anything was wrong mentally—just that her stomach, which had gone hungry all day, finally voiced its protest.

“With my current routine, if it weren’t for the various attribute points rewarded by the System, I’d probably be suffering from malnutrition by now.”

Replacing sleep with meditation and frequently skipping meals—such habits were unhealthy for someone like Janna who was constantly immersed in high-intensity study and work.

However, thanks to the bonus points in 【Constitution】, along with talents like 【Fair Skin】, 【Delayed Aging】, and 【Icy Skin and Jade Bones】, Janna’s appearance was always in peak condition.

Even if she went several days and nights without sleep, Janna’s current 【Character Talent】 adjustments were enough to prevent even a trace of dark circles from appearing.

“After school starts, maybe I should apply to Professor Mary Margaret to purchase some physique-enhancing magical food—of course, assuming it’s not too expensive—”

From time to time, Mary Margaret, the Gourmet Witch, would prepare magical foods and entrust Black Cat Bell to auction them off.

These magical foods were only auctioned to apprentices of White Coral Academy. In that sense, the magical food auctions were one of the academy’s benefits.

After all, as a rare Gourmet Witch, the magical foods crafted by Mary Margaret were highly sought after for their miraculous, side-effect-free benefits—each meal was in high demand.

If they were put up for sale in a regular auction house, apprentices of White Coral Academy wouldn’t even get a chance. They’d be bought up at inflated prices by members of the Wizard Families.

To ensure fairness, the magical foods that Professor Mary Margaret auctioned within the academy were limited to one purchase per apprentice per year. This rule prevented students from Wizard Families from monopolizing the supply and gave ordinary apprentices a chance to buy them.

Of course, while the prices weren’t as exorbitant as in outside markets, for a commoner apprentice, they were still quite painful to afford.

“Guess I should go out and eat first.”

In the days that followed, Janna’s winter break life returned to its usual routine—working at the opera house, studying in the library, and meditating in her dorm room.

During this period, Janna had invited Vivian out for a shopping trip. However, as the eldest daughter of the Rose Family, Vivian had been busy attending various family banquets since the new year, and their meet-up kept getting postponed—until today, they still hadn’t managed to go out together.

It wasn’t just Vivian. Richard Eva, Soro Flare, Bell Moonshadow, and other wizard apprentices from families were in similar situations.

Like human nobles, whether they liked it or not, they had to move from one social event to another, navigating a web of favors and obligations.

“Janna, this dress is for tonight’s Turin auction. I’ve already ironed it and hung it up here.”

“All right. Thanks, Julie—want a doughnut?”

“Thanks—but I really can’t eat sweets anymore, or I’ll get fat.”

As she offered the doughnut, Julie shook her head while opening a makeup kit.

“This one’s whole wheat, not too sweet, and low in calories. It won’t make you fat.”

“Really? ...Still, I’ll pass. Otherwise, I won’t have time to do your makeup.”

Saying that, Julie Anne took out rose dew and lotion and began preparing a moisturizing mask for Janna’s pre-makeup treatment.

At the same time, she also brewed a cup of de-puffing black coffee and placed it in front of Janna.

“Janna, I really envy you. Before I met you, I never knew that in this world, someone’s skin could be so delicate you couldn’t even see the pores—”
