As soon as Saquin had set eyes on Mayanar and his Unliving side of him came to life. A knowledge had remained with him,
Vampires can not walk in daylight.
They would be burnt to ashes in mere seconds.
The stronger ones can resist and last for a couple more seconds, but the end result would remain the same.
Burnt to ashes.
Apparently, it was the price to pay for abandoning their humanity in pursuit for a deranged version of immortality.
At first, he had been confused about the fact that this vampire was walking in daylight. Because, despite the red sky, it was still daytime on the Rindraw planet and it would remain so for a couple more days(Earth days).
Then, it hit him.
They were all in his Domain.
The red sky was not caused by the Access, it was done by Mayanar's Domain. The red hue of the surroundings was also an effect of the vampire's Domain.
If the Domain was not present, the area would have been flooding with endless Senar.
So, if they were in his Domain, why did he not utilize its ability. He knew not much about the topic of Domains, but he could at least tell that it was meant to have a means of attack. Or something in general that hurts or oppresses your enemy.
But Mayanar's had none of that.
Meaning either, he disdained using it against them.
Or the Domain truly did not have such abilities. Which leads to the thought, what if the Domain is mainly used for a different thing entirely.
Namely protection.
Protection from the sun/star, the main bane of the vampire.
That would explain why the night walker would have the guts to pour his spit and disguise it as talking in front of him.
An Unliving.
The pinnacle of the Dead/Undead kind.
Holding this thought at the back of his mind, he engaged the vampire. This move promptly led him to remember that he really recently just awoke to his strength, his control over it was abysmal.
Despite the assistance of his skills like Combat Mastery, Assassination King, Sword Mastery, and Martial Body Movement, this was the result. It was to be expected, Saquin pre-Empowered, was already stronger than most Initiates.
But he lacked both the training and the experience of using said strength.
Then, under such circumstances, he became an Aspirant, which made him yet stronger. This time, he awakened some skills that helped with his problem.
Just.
The strength he could actually wield was barely at his pre-awakening level. The gap between what he contained and what he could command was a yawning chasm.
Then, yet again, before he could fully familiarize himself with his new found strength, he got stronger. This time, he went through a whole Grade and two classes at once.
It was overwhelming.
The amount of strength brimming in his body was not something he could really control, talk less of use.
This issue had its own negative results in his body, especially his mind. But, we would get to that later.
Following the vampire saga.
Saquin quickly realized he was not a match for the vampire as he was, but also discovered that he could temper his strength through the battle. This tempering through battle was the major reason he never called back Shalis, his lazy self would not fight with her present. Alas, the vampire did not play by the script and go with step by step progression. Instead, it went with the full on genocide script.
Saquin had never seen that many people die at once.
One second, they were still alive, scrambling for their lives, the next they were gone.
Despite having dead emotions, he still felt the scene's impact.
It did not feel good.
So, he took a break.
He stayed away from the fight for a while. He would not have joined the fight back if Mayanar had not finished off all the strangers and would soon be moving on to the acquaintances by default.
Joining the fight this time, he went in with two plans.
The major one was to engage in close combat and injure the vampire with his Soul-Bound, Crystalisse. The Soul-Bound strength was dependent on his true overall power.
He was certain he was more powerful than the vampire.
If the dagger could inflict enough injuries, that was game over for the vampire. The dagger's poison was no joke, he had been on the receiving end of it before.
But Nate informed him he was done with his preparations and he disengaged.
He had actually thought it was over, but Nate had gone on to contaminate the blood instead of the Domain.
The Domain took a hit, but it was not enough.
He wondered if he could destroy it with sheer power but that would require him to fly to the red sky and attack. A move he found wrong, he did not wish to stay too far from Star. Of course he realized he was being paranoid, she was pretty much the strongest amongst their team, but...
Something he mocked himself for was the fact that he did not even like her to that extent, what she had was his curiosity. And it was at an all time high.
He was really curious about her.
Especially the move she pulled on Mayanar.
Star Collapse, interesting, isn't it?
Too bad the old geezer with the young face did not kick the bucket.
A blood clone he called it.
Vampires have a lot of cool abilities to turn out to be blood dependent, Vitamin D lacking, sickly pale, unaging old fools.
Well, the old young man now lacked blood, so he decided to start using his ability. It was too bad he could not stop him from attacking.
It was not like he did it on purpose, thinking that the duo of Happiness and the Dark Prince would stop hiding their powers and trump cards and save their classmates.
It was really annoying.
Kentra was fucking dead. Samantha and Fire too.
He still could not fathom how Fire had died. It made no sense. Fire was undoubtedly of a high talent since he attended the same Academy, so at his level of an Adept he should not have died so easily.
In fact, with his strength, he should have been able to fend off Mayanar for a while, even if most of his Senar had truly been depleted from activating the Artifact.
The same Artifact that the remaining breathing three had used to escape, leaving his ass for dry, without even saying good bye.
He was distracted at the time, asking the disrespectful vampire what he was called. The vampire had the gull to also ask for his own name and then went ahead to call it out with no respect added to it.
Even the Ancient Ones amongst his kind would not call his name so blatantly.
Seriously, he really could not tell where all these were coming from. About an hour ago, he did not even know the basic information about vampires, then now he is spouting things about some Ancient Ones.
He had an inkling that this had to do with his [ Unliving ] Ability.
He did not think much of it though and engaged the vampire. To which the vampire promptly taught him was a mistake.
It truly was, why did he go meet a vampire in the air?
He was a strength type, how was he supposed to leverage himself mid-air. He could probably do it with Senar, but he was not that good with the energy yet.
Speaking of being good at things, he found the techniques and the power usage of a lot of these Empowered he had come across since a couple hours ago, including the HATA students, was just plain dumb.
This would sound crazy and really ironic from someone who cannot even fully control his own strength, but he was sure he could effectively use their strength a lot more better.
They simply lacked the same finesse that Greader and co, which were of lower ranks, had.
It probably had something to do with the Divine status or was it because those bunch were just more intelligent. Smarter too.
Or, did being a Divine come with those mental power perks.
Something he would have to look into in the future.
For now, he rather stared at the beautiful Star of the Rindraw System.
[ You have slain a Vampire(Undead) -- Mayanar Of Eternal Blood, Lesser Adept (Unique Bloodline) ]

[ Bloodline extracted. ]
His wings flapped off the little ash that came near him.
His eyes were glued to the purple radiance of the star. It was fascinating to him how a star of the purple color was providing unbiased light.
As he wondered this to himself, he also thought about how Mayanar was of the same rank as the gravity-using terrorist he had killed recently.
It seems the gulf that talent creates in people of the same rank was really more exaggerated than he had thought.
He closed his eyes as he took in the star touch.
He took a deep breath in, distracting himself of the pain as he healed.
"This is thrilling..."
He said as he let himself fall.
[ Bloodline Assimilation in progress...
