Tian Xiwei, whose chest he had brushed against, struggled for a moment. Sun Dasheng immediately let go.
"Hold on a bit longer," he said. "The water temperature is still low. If you catch a cold here, Teacher Ding will hold me responsible."
At the mention of Ding Muchen, Tian Xiwei obediently nodded.
"You should put your clothes on first. The air conditioning just kicked in, so it's not very warm in here yet," he advised.
"Got it!" Tian Xiwei said, dressing quickly.
"The water still needs a little more time to heat up. I'll give you a tour of the upstairs while we wait," Sun Dasheng suggested.
"Alright, let's go!"
The two of them explored the upper level. She was most interested in the equipment room on the second floor, which was fully stocked with all kinds of body-shaping machines. She was like a wide-eyed villager seeing the grand city for the first time, constantly exclaiming in amazement.
Sun Dasheng followed behind her, feeling a bit helpless. "This stuff isn't that rare. You must have seen it all before, right?"
Lifting a dumbbell, Tian Xiwei replied, "I've seen some of it, but your collection is incredibly complete. Take this dumbbell, for example. You have every size and weight, which makes it much better for people to train according to their individual strength."
"You sound like quite the professional," Sun Dasheng said with a smile.
"Of course. We actors are very strict about managing our figures."
"I thought the only trick you actresses had for staying in shape was starving yourselves," he teased.
Tian Xiwei chuckled. "That's clearly a stereotype. Sure, many female stars lose weight by eating less, but most of us don't. Being an actor is physically demanding, especially during filming. We work at high intensity for more than ten hours a day. If we didn't eat properly, we'd just faint on set, wouldn't we?"
"Now that you put it that way, it makes sense," Sun Dasheng nodded.
After she tried a few more pieces of equipment, Sun Dasheng said, "The water in the pool on the first floor should be warm enough now. Let's head down."
「The first-floor pool.」
Like a mermaid, Tian Xiwei glided effortlessly through the water.
Lying on a lounge chair by the poolside, Sun Dasheng watched her and remarked, "I had no idea you were such a good swimmer."
Hearing his compliment, Tian Xiwei smiled and swam over to the edge, emerging from the water to reveal her beautiful figure. She lay down on the lounge chair next to his, took a sip of juice, and said, "Of course. I actually trained in swimming back in high school and even have a level-two athlete's certificate. I only switched to acting because my swimming results weren't good enough."
"So that's how it is. I'm impressed. You seem to excel at everything you do," he said, showering her with compliments.
Tian Xiwei laughed heartily. After resting for a moment, she asked, "Brother Sun, want to come in for a swim?"
Sun Dasheng shook his head. "I'm not very good at it."
"What a waste of such a great physique," Tian Xiwei commented, her eyes fixed on his eight-pack abs and well-defined pecs.
With that, she took another clean dive into the water.
Sun Dasheng watched her go, smiling to himself. He was actually just too lazy to move. As a boy who grew up by the Yangtze River, how could he not be a good swimmer?
Suddenly, he sensed something was wrong.
Why has she been under for so long? Why hasn't she surfaced?
He immediately stripped off his clothes, ran to the edge of the pool, and dove in. Since it was just the two of them, the water was crystal clear, and he spotted her figure almost instantly.
He swam over and pulled the struggling girl into his arms. A drowning person will instinctively cling desperately to their rescuer, often endangering them both. It's a primal instinct, and no one is to blame.
Entangled in her limbs, Sun Dasheng knew they would both be doomed if this continued. He reached out, chopping the back of her neck and knocking her unconscious. She finally released her death grip, and he was able to bring her calmly to the shore.
He laid her down flat. Without a moment's hesitation, he placed his hands on her chest, sealed his mouth over hers, and began performing CPR.
Because his rescue was so prompt, Tian Xiwei hadn't actually swallowed much water. Before long, she coughed it all up.
Tian Xiwei felt as though she was about to die. Not long after she had dived in for the second time, her calf had begun to cramp. She tried to float to the surface but couldn't muster any strength. She could only watch helplessly as she sank deeper and deeper. She was filled with regret. Just one moment of reckless indulgence, and it was going to cost her her life. She didn't want to die. She was still so young. She'd never been with a man, never known what that felt like. How could she die now? Her last thought before losing consciousness was, "I'll marry whoever saves me."
Slowly, she came to.
Her first thought upon regaining consciousness was, Why are my lips wet? Is someone kissing me?
Her eyes flew open. The first thing she saw was a man leaning over her, pressing on her chest while pinching her nose and breathing into her mouth. He kept calling her name into her ear.
Her ears instantly turned bright red.
"Wei Wei, you're finally awake," Sun Dasheng said, letting out a long sigh of relief. If anything had actually happened to this superstar in his club, he'd probably be the top trending topic tomorrow.
"Mm," Tian Xiwei replied, a far cry from her usual lively self, becoming quiet and gentle.
"Let me help you up." Sun Dasheng helped her onto one of the lounge chairs by the pool. He then handed her a thick blanket. "Wrap this around you tightly."
"Mm." Tian Xiwei took the blanket and obediently wrapped herself in it.
