The rest of the evening was spent in quiet relaxation, only interrupted when Luna awoke from her stupor at the smell of cooking food.
Susan had cooked up a large roast of some bird type beast that Violet had brought out of her storage at some point.
The group enjoyed a subdued dinner before once more returning to rest and sleeping the night away.
The group was awoken from their slumber by a notification ringing out in all of their heads. The contents of which elicited varied reactions, from the confusion of Rhyana and Susan, to the palpable shock and confusion of Violet and Luna. For the contents of that notification suggested something so improbable that they didn't quite know how to react to it, its simplicity did nothing to deter the world shaking implications it announced.
[The Endless Storm has been destroyed. It's Titan slain.]
"Wha.. how? How is that even possible?" Came Luna's stunned exclamation as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
Violet was equally stunned, she vividly remembered the overwhelming size and power of the Storm Titan. She failed to even imagine how such a creature could be killed, let alone comprehend how the Endless Storm could have been destroyed.
"What could even do such a thing?" She whispered to no one in particular.
Noticing the confused looks on both Rhyana and Susan's faces at their stupefied reactions, Luna briefly explained about the Storm and its Titan.
"The Endless Storm is as the name suggests a storm that has been continually raging for… well forever. It travels across the Endless Forest in a never ending cycle. The Titan is a true giant of a creature that travels along with the storm. It is… was so large that mountains look small when compared to it. The fact that something managed to slay such a being, well it's terrifying."
Whilst her abridged description failed to encapsulate the sheer magnitude of the feat announced it at least enabled the former slaves to begin to grasp the importance of such a feat.
Violet added on after giving the two women some time to process. "The reason that it never rains in the Forest is because of the Endless Storm, it is the sole source of rain for the entire place. Surely you noticed how it never rained in all of your time traveling here no?" Upon the shaky nods from the two Violet continued.
"Well the Titan lives within the storm, it is followed by an entire hoard of beasts that aim to feed on the wild storm mana. For something to have defeated the Titan they must have also had to deal with the accompanying hoard of beasts."
Silence settled over the group as they all processed what was discussed. Eventually though, Rhyana spoke up. "Okay but does this change anything of our plans? I understand that this is a monumental event but it also seems so far above our current level that I don't know what we are supposed to do about it."
Violet took some time to reply after hearing that. "True I suppose, it doesn't change much, it's just… I kind of wanted to fight the Titan one day." Luna looked over at her companion in stunned silence for a moment as she processed what Violet just said.
"What!?" She exclaimed. "You wanted to fight a primordial being who could destroy you by nearly taking a singular step? Actually… no don't answer that… I don't think I want to know if you were being serious or not." Luna shook her head in muted exasperation at her unruly companion.
Said companion simply shrugged in silent confirmation eliciting a groan from Luna.
"Regardless, their is nothing we can really do about it now. So let's get back to sleep and we can take things as they come." Violet said after a moments pause.
So eventually the group did once more settle back in to rest.
**
A man sprints through the streets, recklessly leaping over any who block his way. His supernatural strength and reflexes allowing him to easily avoid the rare few civilians who were out so late. They all were standing in a state of shock at the announcement made by the system. Not that the sprinting man can blame them, he too is in a state of shock, yet his station does not allow him to stay in such a state for long.
He continues to dash through the city in the direction of the central keep.
He was at the garrison at the northern wall preparing for an expedition when the notice came. He knows that the council will be similarly scrambling to gather to prepair their response to such a monumental event.
He dares not even imagine what kind of being was able to slay the might Titan. His city is able to push back the creature whenever it approaches them, yet that takes the combined might of their entire army and countless high level combatants. Still for all their might they never truly manage to even injure the Titan, let alone have a hope of slaying it.
Eventually the man arrives in the throne room amidst the various other assembled council members. Sat atop the throne their king resides, he like most others is not exactly dressed for the occasion and is currently shirtless and only in simple pants. Yet none would dare to question his might. For the man before them is a living legend here. He pushed back the invasion force sent by the hated Kingdom of Eldor over 200 years ago after they finally slew the last of the Wild Dragons.
It was his king and several other singular existences who gathered together to be the spear tip that broke the kingdoms army's. Each of these singular existences then went on to found one of the great city's located within the Endless Forest. They now reside as the kings, protectors and guardians of their fledgling civilisations.
When the last of his council members has gathered the king finally speaks. His voice deep and resounding, filling the hall despite its low volume. "So it would seem that the Titan has fallen along with its mindless master. We should prepair for the calamity that is liable to arrive in the coming weeks." He pauses and looks about at the assembled men and women before him.
"The world is changing and I fear that if we do not change with it we shall be lost beneath the branches. We must know more about how the Titan was slain, and by whom."
The king then turns his head towards the man dressed in his armour and was ready to head on expedition. "Masin, your mission remains the same. You must seek out the Wild Dragon. We can not allow the Kingdom to hunt it down. It must be protected at all costs, go with haste my friend for I fear that our hopes may yet rest on that young dragons shoulders."
Masin stands at his kings proclamation and salutes with a fury fist slamming into his chest. "Yes my king I shall be successful." With that he promptly turns in his heels and strides out of the throne room.
The king sighs as he watches his most trusted subordinate and son leave. He wishes that he too could leave on an adventure, yet knows that is not his place any longer. His bones have grown weary over the long years and he only hopes that he can maintain the same strength that his grandfather showed all those years ago. For after all what better role model was their to emulate than the last Arctic Leopard Beastkin.
