Ling Zhenfei replied, "Not yet, but I'm close. Today I went down to the riverbank to look for clues. As I attempted to fly over the river, the monster appeared.

The monster did its utmost to prevent me from reaching the other side of the river. I think there must be something there, and the way out should be on the other side of the river, don't you think?"

Peach Blossom Fairy said, "I don't know, but the monsters in the river are very formidable. I advise you not to go."

Ling Zhenfei said, "If we don't go, shall we stay here forever?"

Peach Blossom Fairy turned her head to look at Ling Zhenfei briefly before quickly turning back and saying, "Well, isn't it nice to stay here? There are picturesque views, no worldly ways to worry about. Isn't it a perfect place for retreat and recovery?"

Ling Zhenfei nodded and said, "Indeed, this is a wonderful place, but it doesn't belong to me. Sometimes I imagine finding a place like this to live a reclusive life with my beloved, but not now."

Peach Blossom Fairy, with her back to Ling Zhenfei, said, "Wouldn't you stay for me?"

Peach Blossom Fairy said, "I've been here for I don't know how long. I genuinely wish to find someone who can stay here with me."

Peach Blossom Fairy faced Ling Zhenfei and said, "How is this fake? Nothing here is fake; everything feels so real. Many have come and gone, but out of all, I sincerely hope you will stay."

Peach Blossom Fairy replied, "Because only you passed the test."

Ling Zhenfei was puzzled and asked, "What test?"

Peach Blossom Fairy said, "Many have only seen my beauty and wanted to possess me. Even those pretending to be noble will eventually reveal their true selves.

But you are different. You've been here for three days, and during those days, my room was unlocked at night, yet you didn't violate my privacy.

Especially last night, despite having drunk so much, you controlled your desires at a crucial moment, proving that you are truly a good person, a gentleman."

Ling Zhenfei looked slightly surprised and said, "You knew what happened last night?"

Peach Blossom Fairy said, "Of course I knew. I drank enough to be drunk, but not to the point of losing awareness."

Her words left Ling Zhenfei momentarily stunned. The meaning was clear: if he stayed, he could live together with Peach Blossom Fairy, and such a promise was undeniably attractive.

But now things were different; this was the genuine Peach Blossom Fairy, and the place was the true Peach Blossom Source. Living in seclusion here is satisfying, and best of all, he would have a fairy-like beauty for company.

This place had mountains and waters, plus a beautiful companion, making it paradise on earth. And yet Ling Zhenfei was momentarily bewildered.

Ling Zhenfei was somewhat indulgent, but certain matters were beyond his control.

Ling Zhenfei said to Peach Blossom Fairy, "I'm sorry, Fairy, but I have important matters outside to attend to, so I can't stay here. If you wish, I can take you with me."

Without speaking, Peach Blossom Fairy shook her head and turned back to continue making the soup.

During dinner, both were somewhat silent, unlike their previous interactions.

Ling Zhenfei knew Peach Blossom Fairy was likely upset, but there wasn't much he could do.

After finishing the meal, Ling Zhenfei said to Peach Blossom Fairy, "Fairy, take care!"
