Divine Doctor from the Start of the Eye Mutation

Chapter 237: It Doesn't Matter

After reviving the old man, Ling Zhenfei returned to his seat. When the train arrived at the station, he and Yang Zixuan got off together, as if the rescue on the train had nothing to do with him.

Still, some people recognized Ling Zhenfei and greeted him. Yang Zixuan, confused as to why so many people knew Ling Zhenfei, looked puzzled.

Exiting the train station, Ling Zhenfei had too many personal matters to attend to, so he hailed a cab for Yang Zixuan to send her home.

Just as he was about to hail a cab for himself, someone suddenly grabbed his arm from behind.

"Benefactor, I finally caught up with you. Why did you leave just like that?"

The person who grabbed him was the boy from the train. Judging from his breathless state, he must have chased after Ling Zhenfei in a hurry.

"Didn't we already save the old man? Why aren't you accompanying him to the hospital instead of chasing after me?"

Although the old man had been revived, he still needed to go to the hospital for further treatment. Ling Zhenfei had already told this to the boy on the train.

"It's like this, benefactor, I still don't know your name. At the very least, I don't even have your phone number. My family wants to properly thank you."

Judging by the boy's upbringing, it was evident his family held up strong values. They firmly believed in repaying even the smallest favor with great gratitude. However, Ling Zhenfei didn't care about such things.

"I saved him not for any reward. I'm already very happy to have revived the old man."

Though he said this, the boy still wouldn't let Ling Zhenfei go, insisting that he leave his contact information.

"Benefactor, although this incident might seem trivial to you, it's a huge deal for our family. So you must leave your phone number. My grandpa said he wants to thank you in person once he's well."

Realizing he couldn't leave without giving his name, and knowing the boy meant no harm, Ling Zhenfei decided it wasn't such a big deal to leave his name. He had initially wanted to do a good deed without leaving his name, but it seemed impossible now.

"I am the owner of Xishan Manor. Check the news; I'm pretty popular right now."

After saying this, he got into the cab that had just arrived. As the cab drove off, the boy took out his phone to search for Xishan Manor. His eyes lit up, as if he had thought of something, and he turned around to run back.

In the cab, Ling Zhenfei called Fatty and Zhou Yun to let them know he was back. Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun asked him to come to Xishan Manor immediately. Although he didn't know what had happened, Ling Zhenfei rushed there as quickly as possible.

Xishan Manor, located in a remote village, used to be bustling only in the mornings when vegetables were being transported. Normally, it was quite deserted, but today was different. The gate was crowded with various vehicles and a large group of people blocking it completely.

This group shouted slogans and held banners demanding compensation or even death for Xishan Manor. There were also reporters covering the story live. The whole scene was so chaotic that Ling Zhenfei couldn't quite understand how he had incurred so many debts of life.

Luckily, the people didn't recognize Ling Zhenfei, so he wasn't attacked. The front gate of Xishan Manor was sealed, so he sneaked into the manor from the back.

The workers inside were fully armed, guarding the gate, fearful that the crowd might suddenly rush in. Fortunately, these people were only making a lot of noise, holding banners and shouting slogans without actually attempting to break in.

"What's going on?"

Seeing his sister-in-law Zhou Yun, Ling Zhenfei finally felt a bit relieved. Although Zhou Yun didn't look well, at least she hadn't changed too much.

"All these people claim that eating vegetables from Xishan Manor caused deaths. Some say they've lost their fathers, some their uncles, and they're all demanding compensation. If we don't pay, they'll fight us to the death. Tell me, who have we offended? We can't sell our vegetables and now we have a heap of lawsuits on our hands."

As she spoke, tears welled up in Zhou Yun's eyes. She had been the one in charge here while Ling Zhenfei was away, and she couldn't afford to cry. Now, with Ling Zhenfei back, she finally had someone to rely on.

Ling Zhenfei dreaded seeing his sister-in-law in tears. He hurriedly comforted her, saying, "Don't be afraid, sis. Someone is jealous of us and trying to trip us up. Look at these people outside. Do any of them really look like they've lost someone? They're just hired to stir up trouble. Even if someone did die from eating our vegetables, they'd go after the restaurant, which would then come to us. They're just here to slander us."

"That's right, Zhenfei and I thought the same thing. There's no way our vegetables, which we didn't even spray with pesticides, could kill anyone."

With a shovel in hand, Li Ermeng glared angrily at the crowd outside. He was an honest man who had just started making some money following Ling Zhenfei. This situation threatened his livelihood, so he couldn't help but be anxious.

"Boss, there are reporters outside wanting to come in for an interview. Should we let them in?"

Accepting the interview was necessary. Otherwise, if the reporters went back and concocted a story, who knew what kind of bad press Xishan Manor would get? Right now, Xishan Manor couldn't afford any negative attention.

For the sake of appearances, the interview had to be accepted. As the owner, Ling Zhenfei couldn't appear guilty or make people think he was a shady character.

If he could win some people back over through the media, that would be great—this was Ling Zhenfei's ulterior motive.

The reporter was a woman who had been covering the live report outside. Her microphone bore the logo of a certain TV station.

When she saw Ling Zhenfei, she froze for a moment, surprised to find that the owner of Xishan Manor was so young.

"Hello, Boss Ling. I'm a reporter from Binyang TV Station. I'd like to discuss the recent online rumors about mutated vegetables from Xishan Manor with you. Do you have time?"

The female reporter appeared very professional, speaking in a respectful and neutral tone.

"Of course, I've been wanting to clarify the online slander against Xishan Manor with the media."

"So, Boss Ling, you're saying that the online claims about Xishan Manor selling mutated vegetables are deliberately slandering you? But these rumors have spread widely overnight. There's usually no smoke without fire, so there must be some reasons for them, right?"

The reporter spoke without emotion, but anyone could hear her skepticism about Ling Zhenfei's words.

"Just because something is widely spread doesn't mean it's true. People even say President Bush attacked Bin Laden because Bin Laden stole his pressure cooker. Is that true, too? It's absurd!"

Ling Zhenfei's words left the reporter dumbfounded. She had never heard such an analogy before. Yet, he didn't stop there but continued speaking into the microphone.
