Divine Doctor from the Start of the Eye Mutation

Chapter 309: In a Flurry

After hanging up the phone, Ling Zhenfei let out a sigh of relief. With Jiang Hao's help, things would be much easier, at least there wouldn't be any chaos due to ignorance.

"Boss, it's getting late. Shall we go?"

It was already evening, and the time on the invitation was fast approaching. Ling Zhenfei had no choice but to get into Zhou Jian's car, and they headed toward the address on the invitation together.

On the way, Ling Zhenfei sent a message to Liu Bingying, telling her he wouldn't be coming home for dinner and asked her not to wait for him.

It wasn't long before Liu Bingying replied to his message, telling him to come back early and be safe.

Seeing Liu Bingying's message made Ling Zhenfei feel warm inside, but the usual brother-sister nicknames were gone from the messages. How they would address each other in the future would have to be discussed when they sat down together.

Soon, they arrived at the address on the invitation, a very large bar with top-notch scale and decorations. He didn't know which faction owned it, but by that time, it had closed for private events, and only those with an invitation could enter.

Ling Zhenfei and Zhou Jian entered smoothly with their invitations. Now, Zhou Jian was the main host in terms of honor, and Ling Zhenfei was just an accessory.

As they entered the hall, Ling Zhenfei and Zhou Jian felt they had come too hastily because they didn't know the rules; they had only brought two people, while other factions had brought at least four or five members each, looking very intimidating in terms of presence.

It wasn't hard to understand, really; since it was a banquet attended by important faction members, it was inevitable for conflicts to arise between factions. If a dispute led to a fight at this gathering, the side with fewer people would definitely be at a disadvantage.

Even though there was concern that opposing factions might seek revenge at the gathering, bringing too many people would also be inappropriate. If a faction showed up with dozens of people, it would be laughable.

The bar had completely turned into a large banquet where everything was self-service; food was available to take as desired, drinks as well, and waiters were ready to serve at any time.

Inside the bar, there was a stage originally intended for band performances, but it had been rearranged for some purpose, although it was unclear what.

Ling Zhenfei and Zhou Jian casually grabbed some food and found a secluded spot to eat. Although Ling Zhenfei appeared to be focused on his food, he was actually listening intently to the conversations around him.

"Boss, look, that's the Bamboo Union's guys; they were the ones who caused trouble in our territory last time. Should we teach that kid a lesson later?"

"No, we can't. The brother hosting today holds a special status; we shouldn't offend him. Definitely don't stir up trouble."

"Who actually organized this banquet anyway? The invitation doesn't say."

"You don't need to ask. You'll find out when the time comes."

After finishing their talk, those two shifted the conversation to the attractive waitresses and didn't say anything else of value. Ling Zhenfei then turned his attention to another group of people chatting.

"With so many factions here, there might be a fight later. Tell the brothers outside to be prepared to rush in if anything goes wrong."

"Yes, Boss. I've already prepared everything. If those trashy factions dare to touch us, our brothers outside will storm in. Everyone is armed. We'll definitely cut them down."

"Well, that puts my mind at ease. I really want to see which clueless person organized this banquet, thinking I'd be scared. I'm not scared at all," he declared.

It turned out that among these faction characters, many, like Ling Zhenfei, had no idea who was hosting the banquet or its purpose. They had possibly come out of curiosity or perhaps due to each faction's desire to maintain appearances.

"Brother, look at those two, especially the first one. That kid is the one who defeated me last time. His cultivation is frighteningly high."

Upon hearing this, Ling Zhenfei was momentarily taken aback. Needless to say, the person being discussed was himself, and the speaker was none other than Liang Tian of the Three Killers Club. It was after defeating this young man that he had secured three streets for his faction.

He was eager to hear what the Three Killers Club would say about them, and promptly focused all his attention on listening.

"You're the one that kid defeated? What a waste! I thought he'd be some kind of extraordinary creature, but turns out he's just a little brat. How dare he set up a faction at such a young age, especially one that steps over our Three Killers Club. We absolutely cannot allow such an affront."

"So, Brother, what should we do? Should we find a way to take that kid down later?"

"No, not now. We still don't know who organized this banquet or what their purpose is, so we absolutely must not make a move yet, but have our brothers outside be prepared. Even if we don't strike here, we'll take action outside."

"Don't worry, Brother."

Ling Zhenfei glanced over at the speakers and saw two individuals, one of whom was Liang Tian, and the other, a middle-aged man with a gloomy face that emanated an intimidating coldness, which must have been the killing aura mentioned in ancient texts.

Pretending not to see them, Ling Zhenfei had already figured them out from their conversation. He guessed that this middle-aged man must be Han Zhaolong, the second leader of the Three Killers Club.

"Boss, the Three Killers Club is here too, and they're looking this way. What should we do?" Zhou Jian had also noticed the members of the Three Killers Club and confided in Ling Zhenfei, his voice betraying a hint of panic.

"Don't worry. They won't make a move since the purpose of the banquet is not clear yet," he reassured.

"It's really strange. So many faction leaders have shown up, yet no one knows who the host is. What could their purpose be?"

Ling Zhenfei had no answer to that question. He wandered around the hall with a wine glass in hand, occasionally eating and drinking as there was nothing urgent at hand, feeling no pressure. However, the room was filled with groups of Jianghu people, particularly the watchful members of the Three Killers Club, giving a sense of a looming storm.

While Ling Zhenfei was standing by a window admiring the night scene of Binyang, a tall, distinguished-looking man in his forties with bright eyes and a scholarly appearance suddenly appeared beside him, holding a wine glass.

"Hello, are you Mr. Ling Zhenfei?"

He had thought the man was there to enjoy the view, but instead, the man started talking to him, addressing him by name.

Ling Zhenfei looked at the man in front of him, whom he truly didn't recognize, and was puzzled about how the man knew him: "Hello, I am Ling Zhenfei. May I ask who you are?"

The man suddenly smiled and did not respond directly to Ling Zhenfei's question, but instead said, "I've seen your photos and even videos, and now I finally meet you in person."

Ling Zhenfei was taken aback once more. He was even more puzzled about the man in front of him; why would someone he didn't know want to look at his photos and videos?
