Divine Doctor from the Start of the Eye Mutation

Chapter 327 Immortals Can't Save You

Ling Zhenfei dodged swiftly, brushing past them and lightly pressing points on Wang Quan's waist as he did so. The touch was so light that Wang Quan didn't even notice.

"Stop it, or not even an immortal can save you."

"Ling Zhenfei, you are still trying to deceive me. What illness do you say I have?" Wang Quan looked at Ling Zhenfei suspiciously.

"Wang Quan, don't listen to him. This guy is the master of deception. I'm afraid you'll be duped. He came by himself today; let's take him down together and break his legs first," Wang Changhe said slyly, not giving Ling Zhenfei a chance to speak.

"Dad, there's no need to worry. Let him speak. After all, he's right here in our house, how could he possibly escape?" Having heard that his own health was in question, Wang Quan was already feeling restless.

"Kid, you better explain clearly what illness I have. If you dare to lie, I'll beat you to death," Wang Quan said, pointing a stick at Ling Zhenfei.

At that moment, Liu Qinglian, who had been cooking in the kitchen, also came out of the house. She was very surprised to see that the visitor was Ling Zhenfei, but she didn't dare to speak and just stood behind Wang Changhe, watching everything unfold.

Ling Zhenfei spoke calmly, "Although you pretended to be sick that day, I actually took your pulse. That's how I knew you were pretending. Well, it wasn't exactly pretending, you do have an illness. It's quite severe, but it just hasn't shown symptoms yet."

"Ling Zhenfei, why waste words? What illness is it?" Wang Changhe, knowing how persuasive Ling Zhenfei could be, feared that Wang Quan might be fooled.

"I won't say just yet what it is. You can try a movement, though. Lift your arms to chest level then stretch them back as far as possible, as if you were doing a chest expansion exercise. You will feel it," Ling Zhenfei said.

Wang Quan followed Ling Zhenfei's instructions and performed the chest expansion exercise, and suddenly cried out, "Ouch, why does it hurt so much? What's happening to me?"

Startled, Wang Quan dropped the stick and turned to Ling Zhenfei, "Ling Zhenfei, what is this illness? Tell me clearly."

Ling Zhenfei sneered internally, knowing his plan was about to succeed, but maintained a composed expression as he said, "This illness is very unique. It's called Shattered Heart Syndrome, and it's extremely rare, so much so that some doctors in major hospitals have never seen it."

"What is this Shattered Heart Syndrome? Such a strange name?" Wang Changhe was also scared, the reality in front of him forced him to believe.

"It's simple. In the later stages, the heart literally breaks into pieces, hence the name Shattered Heart Syndrome. The reason it hasn't shown symptoms is that once symptoms start showing, it leads directly to death. There are no conventional treatments. Timely treatment is essential; the later it is treated, the harder it gets," Ling Zhenfei knew he had to sound severe for this peculiar family to believe him.

"Is there any way to treat it?" Wang Quan asked, a question concerning everyone.

"Sorry, I just came to alert you. Seeing you ready with knives and sticks, I need to go home for dinner. Handle it yourselves," Ling Zhenfei said, then turned to leave.

"Young Master Ling, don't go. We just finished cooking, and we are all from the same village. There was a misunderstanding between us previously; why don't we have a drink and clear it up?"

Wang Changhe stepped in front of Ling Zhenfei, blocking his way, and Wang Quan even grabbed Ling Zhenfei's arm, not letting him go. He knew, since Ling Zhenfei had mentioned it, that there must be a way to treat it, and if Ling Zhenfei left, his illness would remain untreated.

Ling Zhenfei pretended to be somewhat embarrassed and said, "How could I? I usually have quite particular tastes, so I prefer not to eat at other people's homes."

"Qinglian, make a few more of the fancy dishes, see what's in the fridge, and cook the best you have. Ling Zhenfei is an honored guest in our home, we mustn't be stingy."

Wang Changhe, speaking with Wang Quan, dragged Ling Zhenfei into the room. They seated Ling Zhenfei in the place of honor while Wang Changhe and Wang Quan stayed close by, fearful that Ling Zhenfei might become displeased.

Wang Quan's face had turned pale, clearly fearing that one day his heart might suddenly shatter into pieces—an alarming thought indeed.

"Brother Ling, what do you think should be done about this child's illness? I know you must surely have a treatment method," Wang Changhe cautiously asked Ling Zhenfei as he poured him some wine.

"This illness, it can be cured. I won't deceive you, I truly can cure it, but it's not easy. Treating this disease takes a lot out of me, so you might be better off finding someone more skilled. I don't want to exert myself that much."

"Brother Ling, stop joking around. Since you can cure it, just go ahead and treat it. Why should I beg others? Just tell me how much money you want, we can discuss it."

Ling Zhenfei glared at Wang Quan and said with a smile, "Do I look like someone who lacks money? Isn't my Xishan Manor earning enough?"

Having heard what Ling Zhenfei said, Wang Changhe somewhat understood and quickly said, "I know you're not short of money. If you have any demands, just name them. If it's within our power, we can surely fulfill them. Everything is negotiable."

After listening, Ling Zhenfei did not rush to reply, but instead took a sip of wine and changed the subject, "Where were you guys planning to take Lingxiu the other day?"

Startled by Ling Zhenfei's question, Wang Changhe hesitated, unsure how to respond. At that moment, Wang Quan told the plain truth: "It was all Boss Jia's doing. You can't blame us for this, Brother Ling. It was all Jia Chenggong's idea. He fancied Lingxiu and said that if we sent her over, he would pay us. That's why we foolishly agreed at the time."

From what Wang Quan said, Ling Zhenfei believed it was true. Firstly, Wang Quan wouldn't dare lie, and secondly, it was similar to what He Lingxiu had told him, so it seemed credible.

"So how did you come by the Mountain Gazing Grass?"

At the mention of Mountain Gazing Grass, all three men froze. Liu Qinglian, standing aside, exclaimed in surprise, "Brother Ling, you know about Mountain Gazing Grass? I thought you stumbled upon it by mistake that day. I provided that grass; it's a kind of herb from our family. Someone ate it by mistake when I was a child, and I saw the symptoms, so I remembered it."

Ling Zhenfei was taken aback when he heard this, initially thinking that an expert had guided him, only to realize that Liu Qinglian had known about the medicinal properties of Mountain Gazing Grass by accident.

"Brother Ling, talking about these things now is useless since everything is in the past. We won't talk about it anymore. Let's discuss the child's illness. What exactly can be done to cure him? You can name any condition," Wang Changhe, who was very concerned about his only son, said.

Ling Zhenfei felt that it was about time; dragging this out served no purpose.

"If you want me to treat him, I can, but my conditions are quite stringent. You might want to consider them."

"What are they?"

"My Xishan Manor has developed too quickly, and the land I previously acquired isn't enough anymore. I want to lease the entirety of Xi Shan."

"What? You want to lease the mountain?" Wang Changhe's face showed some distress.

"Yes, is that very troublesome?"

"Leasing the mountain isn't impossible, but if you plan to cut down trees, the forestry department might intervene, which could be very troublesome," Wang Changhe explained.
