Chapter 358: Let me buy you a drink

"Thank you," Jiu Jiu said to Ling Zhenfei, her voice still soft, not at all like a woman who had just cracked open someone's head with a bottle.

"Your drinks are not so easily handled." Only a woman of uncommon nature could maintain such composure after what had just happened.

But by this time, Ling Zhenfei had already been pulled by Jiu Jiu to the side of the bar, and she had ordered the strongest liquor.

Jiu Jiu really wasn't short on cash; she didn't even blink when ordering drinks that cost thousands.

"You seem quite afraid of me," Jiu Jiu whispered seductively into Ling Zhenfei's ear from beside him.

"Women are tigers; of course, I'm scared, especially when the tiger is as beautiful as you," he replied.

Jiu Jiu laughed, "That's right, I am a tiger, and tonight, I'm going to eat you up."

Jiu Jiu clinked her glass with Ling Zhenfei's, and they both downed their drinks in one go.

Jiu Jiu wanted to keep drinking with Ling Zhenfei, but just then, Jiang Hao came back, and Ling Zhenfei said, "I'm sorry, but my friend and I have matters to discuss. You should head home quickly; I'm worried those two thugs might come back for trouble."

"I'm not afraid as long as you're here!" Jiu Jiu seemed a bit drunk.

Ling Zhenfei stopped paying attention to Jiu Jiu and went back to the table where he had been drinking with Jiang Hao.

"My brother told me about what just happened; we've seen more of these small-time thugs around lately."

The two resumed their chat, with Ling Zhenfei seated in a position where he could see Jiu Jiu, and she was looking at him too.

Jiu Jiu kept drinking, glass after glass, toasting in his direction from time to time. Ling Zhenfei watched as Jiu Jiu finished an entire bottle and seemed a bit unsteady on her feet. Finally, she headed for the exit of the bar, seemingly ready to go home. Only then did Ling Zhenfei feel relieved.

After talking with Jiang Hao for a while and noticing it was getting late, he too decided to leave.

As he walked out of the bar and found his car, just as he was about to open the door, someone suddenly pounced at him from the side. Ling Zhenfei was about to retaliate when he saw it was Jiu Jiu who had jumped on him.

Ling Zhenfei, who was about to throw a punch, quickly retracted his arm and managed to catch Jiu Jiu, preventing her from falling.

"I've been waiting for you; take me with you," Jiu Jiu said, giggling at Ling Zhenfei.

"Are you drunk? Better take a cab home," he suggested.

"I'm not going home. If you won't take me with you, then just leave me by the roadside," Jiu Jiu said, sounding a bit angry.

Jiu Jiu seemed completely drunk, yet alarmingly sober. If she really was drunk, one could easily imagine what might happen if left by the roadside at this time.

"If you don't want to leave, then stay put because none of you are going anywhere tonight!"

As Ling Zhenfei pondered what to do, he suddenly heard someone shouting at him.

He quickly looked toward the voice and saw a group of people rushing over, all armed with clubs, coming towards him aggressively. The two leading the charge were none other than the thugs he had beaten up in the bar.

I never expected that in such a short time, this kid could gather so many people. Although Ling Zhenfei wasn't afraid of them, he was worried about Jiu Jiu's safety in his arms.

"Kid, I didn't think you had such guts. You hit us and didn't even run away; looks like you're really asking for trouble. And this hot piece, the two of you together, that's just great. Saves us the trouble of looking for you," said the youth who Jiu Jiu had hit on the head with a bottle. His head was now wrapped in gauze; it must have been from the bottle.

Ling Zhenfei had Jiu Jiu lean against the car and stand firm, then took two steps closer to the gang and said, "I don't even consider you people worth my attention."

At that moment, someone from behind the crowd spoke up, "Who's so cocky? Don't you know whose turf you're on?"

The crowd parted, and one man stepped forward from behind. He was a very robust guy with a terrifying dragon tattoo over his shoulder.

"Boss, it's this guy and this lady who beat up our brothers. Let's cripple this kid, and the lady, she looks good, you can have some fun with her," the youth quickly brown-nosed to his boss.

"Causing trouble on our turf is a death wish," the boss said, and with that, he looked over at Ling Zhenfei.

There was a moment of shock, and his voice trembled as he spoke, "You're Ling Zhenfei?"

Being able to round up so many people in such short notice showed these little hoodlums were organized and disciplined. What Ling Zhenfei didn't expect was that they would call out his name at the drop of a hat.

"Yes, I am Ling Zhenfei. How do you know me?"

The boss gritted his teeth and said, "Of course I know you. You may not remember me. The first time, at Zhou Jian's car shop during the negotiation, you injured our third brother Liang Tian. Last time at the bar gathering, you injured our second brother Han Zhaolong, and you also gave me a punch that broke my two ribs. Even if you turn to ash, I'd recognize you."

As he said this, his underlings all gasped in surprise, clearly amazed.

Ling Zhenfei also hadn't expected that the man before him was an old acquaintance, present during both encounters with his two brothers.

"So how do you want to settle this tonight?" Since there was such deep enmity, a big fight was inevitable. There were over a dozen of them, and he was on his own. It would indeed require some effort.

The man snorted coldly, "I'll let you go today, but next time I see you, it won't be so pleasant."

After the man finished speaking, he suddenly gave an order and, with his men, turned around and ran. This left Ling Zhenfei befuddled; just moments before, they were so eager to fight. He hadn't expected them to run away like that.

With those people gone, only the two who had been beat up by Ling Zhenfei remained. They were also stunned, not sure what had just happened, frozen on the spot.

Ling Zhenfei was taken aback at first and then he understood—the gang was obviously scared off by him once they realized they were no match.

"Weren't you two going to hit me? I'm right here, why aren't you taking your shot?" Ling Zhenfei asked, looking at the two petrified men.

"Big brother, we're sorry, we didn't recognize Mount Tai. We know we were wrong," the two youths were quick to react. By now, they'd figured that Ling Zhenfei was no ordinary person. Otherwise, he wouldn't have scared more than ten people away with just a word.

"Oh, where did you go wrong?"

"We shouldn't have harassed this lady, nor should we have attacked you. We promise we won't ever dare to do it again," the two said in genuine fear.

"If I see you two again, you can imagine the consequences," Ling Zhenfei's voice was chillingly cold.

"We know, we won't dare come around here anymore." As they said this, they started to back away, and seeing that Ling Zhenfei didn't respond, they ran off as if they were flying.
