Divine Doctor from the Start of the Eye Mutation

Chapter 74: Crushing Defeat

Tan Shaojie was battle-hardened. Although he wasn't unbeatable, he had never suffered such a humiliating defeat as he did today.

In just one move! To think that he had been defeated by Ling Zhenfei with a single move!

Suffering such a setback was an unthinkable disgrace for Tan Shaojie, a surge of extreme sorrow and indignation shot through him, even forcibly suppressing the physical pain he was enduring at that moment.

"Awooo!"

Tan Shaojie let out a howl like an injured lone wolf, his body suddenly springing into the air, and in the blink of an eye, he unleashed a series of more than ten kicks at Ling Zhenfei.

Bang bang bang!

True to his moniker "Ghostly Legs Young Master," Tan Shaojie's rapid succession of kicks created a series of afterimages in the night, overwhelming in their loud bangs and robust strength, completely surrounding Ling Zhenfei from front to back and left to right.

"Well done!"

Forced to display his signature skill, Ling Zhenfei naturally did not dare to take it lightly. His eyebrows furrowed, his arms went up to block, and he parried each of Tan Shaojie's Thundering Leg Shadows.

Whoosh!

However, just as Ling Zhenfei was about to counterattack after gradually dismantling Tan Shaojie's flurry of leg shadows, the cunning Tan Shaojie had already grasped a handful of Blinding Dust. He violently threw it in front of Ling Zhenfei, then, with a backward flight, he leapt and disappeared into the vast night.

Tan Shaojie, this arrogant fellow, actually fled when he knew he was no match!

Ling Zhenfei dodged the Blinding Dust in the air and watched as Tan Shaojie's figure rapidly vanished into the night, feeling a mix of amusement and frustration.

This guy truly lived up to his name, Ghostly Legs Young Master. In the face of defeat, he could still rely on his extraordinary legs to escape. This was quite unexpected for Ling Zhenfei!

It seemed, catching Tan Shaojie on this journey was not going to be an easy task!

Having suffered a major setback at his hands tonight, Ling Zhenfei knew that Tan Shaojie wouldn't dare to come back and cause trouble for the rest of the night.

After a long day of turmoil, Ling Zhenfei was indeed very tired, so he simply lay down to sleep a sound and undisturbed sleep...

The next day, when Ling Zhenfei opened his eyes, it was already broad daylight.

He ate some dried fruit and drank some spring water, then once again began to hurry towards the path of pursuing the murderer.

Tan Shaojie wasn't an easy target; knowing Ling Zhenfei was following him closely, making it hard to shake him off, his escape speed had definitely increased a great deal.

Ling Zhenfei followed their direction of flight for the whole morning, yet he never caught sight of them. Even when using the Divine Power of the Clear Vision Perspective Eye, he found nothing.

Could they have possibly slipped away in the night?

No sooner had this thought crossed Ling Zhenfei's mind than he immediately dismissed it.

The jungle's path was difficult, swamp and fierce beasts could be encountered anywhere. Accidents were unavoidable even in the daytime with good visibility, let alone on a dark and stormy night like the previous one; it was impossible for them to risk traveling at night.

Even if Tan Shaojie, relying on his profound martial arts, could dismiss the risks, the others couldn't.

Moreover, they had Kun Ze Haosan with them, who had no basis in martial arts whatsoever.

But if they hadn't gone far, then why couldn't his Perspective Divine Eye locate their position?

Ling Zhenfei found the mystery perplexing and without taking a break, pressed on a little further, yet he still couldn't find any trace of them.

Unknowingly, he had already reached the border line.

Ling Zhenfei saw that, on a small mountain not far from the border line, there was actually a border defense post. Nearby the post, several border soldiers were patrolling back and forth.

Seeing the border guards, Ling Zhenfei felt a surge of confidence and quickly strode forward.

"Halt! Don't move! Put your hands above your head!"

Just as Ling Zhenfei was about to walk up the mountain and was preparing to ask the sentries for information, two of them noticed him and aimed their dark gun barrels at Ling Zhenfei.

"Please don't misunderstand, brothers. I am here to assist the Binyang police in capturing fugitives," he said.

Ling Zhenfei did as he was told, raising his hands and standing still, smiling at the two sentries, "A group of drug lords has kidnapped a felon, attempting to flee across the border. I was invited by the Binyang police to track them down here."

"You're here to pursue a criminal?" The two sentries eyed Ling Zhenfei with suspicion, clearly not convinced by his words.

"Of course, my surname is Ling, named Ling Zhenfei. If you don't believe me, you can call the Binyang police now for confirmation," he said.

Ling Zhenfei patiently explained, yet as he took a closer look at the two sentries' attire, his brows involuntarily furrowed.

He saw that the two sentries, with cigarettes hanging in their mouths and hats worn askew, looked nothing like well-trained People's soldiers, but rather like a pair of military ruffians!

"Is that so?" After hearing Ling Zhenfei's explanation, the two sentries quickly exchanged a glance.

One of them crouched down, frisking all over Ling Zhenfei's body without finding any dangerous weapons. Then he stood up and said to Ling Zhenfei, "Come with us, talk to our platoon leader."

So, the two sentries took the lead and ushered Ling Zhenfei towards the outpost halfway up the mountainside.

"What's going on? Why aren't you at your posts? Who is this guy?"

No sooner had the trio reached the outpost than a platoon leader came up to them, accompanied by two armed soldiers.

"Platoon leader, this man says he's here to help Binyang police chase a felon and has asked for our cooperation," the two sentries replied.

"Helping Binyang police to chase a felon? Why haven't I heard anything about it?"

The platoon leader gave Ling Zhenfei a dubious look, his eyes quickly shifting before he beckoned to Ling Zhenfei, "Come with me. I'll make a call to headquarters to confirm."

"Alright!" Ling Zhenfei agreed and followed him into the outpost. The other border guards exchanged glances and followed, guns at the ready, behind Ling Zhenfei.

Although Ling Zhenfei had verbally agreed, the wariness in his heart had only increased, not lessened.

He had already carefully observed the soldiers around the outpost and noticed their disorder; they looked neither like soldiers nor bandits, which was suspicious.

What raised even greater suspicions in Ling Zhenfei's mind was that these border guards were equipped with the powerful AK47 assault rifles!

Even though Ling Zhenfei was not knowledgeable about the armament of military units, in such a remote area, carrying such formidable weapons, what sort of people could they be?

The more Ling Zhenfei thought about it, the more he felt that something was seriously wrong. When he activated his Perspective Eye and scanned the area around the outpost, a subtle cold smile appeared in his pupils.

"Hurry inside!"

The platoon leader went into the outpost first and called back to Ling Zhenfei.

However, Ling Zhenfei stood there like a stake, motionless, his gaze filled with a chilling, murderous intent.

"What... what's the matter?"

The platoon leader's mind and spirit trembled under Ling Zhenfei's gaze, no longer daring to look him in the eye, and he barked at the small soldiers behind Ling Zhenfei, "Why aren't you acting yet?"

No sooner had the platoon leader's shout fallen than the first to react was not the small soldiers but Ling Zhenfei himself!
