Divine Doctor from the Start of the Eye Mutation

Chapter 998 Review

After the Blind Taste God finished speaking, the tasting began. It's worth noting that this Blind Taste God was quite professional. He rinsed his mouth with a sip of water before starting to taste the dishes from both sides.

First, he tasted the Kung Pao Chicken, starting with a bite from Ling Zhenfei's side. After rinsing his mouth, he took a bite of Watanabe Hideaki's dish, then rinsed and had a few more bites of Ling Zhenfei's dish.

Then he moved on to the next dish, and surprisingly, he stopped and had two extra shrimp on Ling Zhenfei's braised prawns.

However, when he got to the spicy fried cabbage, the Blind Taste God's expression changed. He took two big bites, clearly finding it delicious, while he only sampled Watanabe Hideaki's dish lightly.

Ling Zhenfei smiled inside, such a situation clearly showed that this Blind Taste God had skill, knowing what's good and what's not.

After all the dishes were tasted, Watanabe Nagayumi asked, "Blind Taste God, how is it now? You've tasted the dishes from both sides; which one is tastier?"

Watanabe, the God of Cookery, thought for a moment and said, "Both sides did exceptionally well today, especially the braised prawns; they were extraordinary, simply top-notch. And that Kung Pao Chicken, those chicken pieces were simply delicious."

Watanabe Nagayumi, standing to the side, said, "Enough with the nonsense, just tell me whose dish is tastier."

The Blind Taste God then pointed to the side on the right and said, "I think the dishes on this side are better prepared."

Ling Zhenfei almost couldn't believe it upon hearing this. His dishes were so well-made, and the Blind Taste God almost ate half of them, yet in the end, he claimed Watanabe Hideaki's dishes tasted better—it simply didn't make sense.

The Watanabe Family burst into cheers, shouting towards Watanabe Hideaki, "Number one in Japanese Chinese cuisine, genius, a genius in the culinary world."

To be honest, Ling Zhenfei had seen shameless people before but not to this extent. Yet, in an instant, he understood how foolish it was to compete with the Watanabe Family in such a place.

Even if the Blind Taste God truly was blind and couldn't see who was cooking, the two people's cooking styles were distinct. Watanabe Hideaki's dishes—he surely had tasted plenty of them.

Given the old fellow's character, no matter whose dishes tasted better, he would declare Watanabe Hideaki's dishes better so he could stay with the Watanabe Family.

Ling Zhenfei was really at a loss; he hadn't considered this aspect earlier. This was blatant cheating, and it was beyond understanding how they could sleep at night with such peace of mind.

While the Watanabe Family was congratulating Watanabe Hideaki, Xia Shan came up with chopsticks, took a bite of Ling Zhenfei's dish, then another bite of Watanabe Hideaki's dish.

But after a single bite, Xia Shan spat out Watanabe Hideaki's dish: "Is this even edible? Who said it's tasty? Why don't you all taste it?"

The Watanabe Family laughed, saying, "Did the Blind Taste God make a mistake? Stop dreaming; Watanabe Hideaki has already won."

Xia Shan, slightly agitated: "Don't you want to try it yourselves?"

Someone laughed and said, "What's there to try; can Miss Watanabe's culinary skills ever be wrong?"

Xia Shan said, "Then quickly try Mr. Ling's dish and give us the best answer."

The man cheekily took a bite of Ling Zhenfei's dish, then Watanabe Hideaki's dish. After a single bite, his expression changed, but he kept quiet, and the pained expression on his face disappeared instantly.

Yet, he soon regained his composure and said, "See, I told you, Watanabe's dish is still better."

Ling Zhenfei was amazed in his heart. These people truly loved Watanabe Hideaki; they could even eat something so unpalatable.

Xia Shan looked at Ling Zhenfei, obviously not expecting this scenario to unfold.

Ling Zhenfei laughed but said nothing. This was something stirred up by Xia Shan; if it weren't for her, none of this would have happened.

But it was because of this matter that Ling Zhenfei realized how shameless Japanese people could be, downright revealing to Ling Zhenfei that these people couldn't be trusted.

Ling Zhenfei sat back helplessly in his seat. There was nothing more to say; things had reached this point. If the other side believed Watanabe Hideaki's dishes were better, then so be it.

Xia Shan looked at Ling Zhenfei and said, "Aren't you going to say anything?"

Ling Zhenfei said, "What's there to say, don't you know the idiom 'Frog at the bottom of a well'?"

"I've heard of it, but how is it related?" Xia Shan asked confusedly.

Ling Zhenfei replied, "Haven't you realized we're sitting in the midst of a bunch of frogs?"

Xia Shan jumped up laughing, "What you said makes sense, but they are truly infuriating. The food you made is truly delicious, can I eat it all?"

Ling Zhenfei nodded, "Feel free, no one else is eating anyway."

Upon hearing Ling Zhenfei's words, Xia Shan hurried over, placing all three dishes in front of her and began eating.

"It's really delicious, how did you do it? The shrimp tastes so fresh, yet there's no fishy smell, it's so good."

"Kung Pao Chicken, so crispy, truly delicious, the chicken is so tender, I could never have guessed there'd be such a dish, I can hardly stop!"

"What dish is this, why is it all cabbage, is it good, ah it's really good, how did you do it, it looks like you made it in under a minute, delicious."

To create the best flavor out of simple dishes is an art, something Ling Zhenfei really enjoyed doing. From simplicity to complexity, that's the essence.

Ling Zhenfei was truly happy; at least Xia Shan enjoyed his cooking. Otherwise, Ling Zhenfei would start doubting if he even knew how to cook.

"Wait a minute!" Suddenly, Watanabe Hideaki shouted in Ling Zhenfei's direction. Xia Shan also heard him, so she stopped her motion.

Not only those two, but everyone dining in the restaurant was taken aback, looking at Watanabe Hideaki speaking with astonishment.

They then saw Watanabe Hideaki come forward from the crowd, walking towards Ling Zhenfei and Xia Shan. He picked up an unused pair of chopsticks and took a bite of Ling Zhenfei's dish.

Watanabe Hideaki put the food into his mouth and ate with large bites. His face was initially serious, but the more he ate, the more his expression changed. Eventually, he took another bite from another dish.

After eating that dish, he started on the braised prawns, with everyone watching as Watanabe Hideaki ate two of the prawns.

Then Watanabe Hideaki stood up, took a bite of the dish he had previously made, chewed a couple of times, and then spit it out on the ground.

"You've been lying to me!"

Watanabe Hideaki glanced around at the people nearby, unable to believe his eyes, even including the Blind Taste God among them.
