Official Career Storm

Chapter 887

Liang Jianfeng understood what Song Guanchao meant by the other way.

However, to an old policeman like him who upheld procedural justice, such methods were unacceptable.

Song Guanchao glanced at him, knowing what was troubling him.

"Don't worry, Mr. Liang. I won't get directly involved."

"Nor will I send someone to kidnap him."

"But, he's caused such a big stir, inevitably harming some people's interests."

"Now, the culprit harming their interests has appeared."

"Do you think they'll let him go?"

Song Guanchao smiled: "I don't need to do anything, just spread the word that he's out there, and someone will naturally take care of him."

Liang Jianfeng pondered for a moment, nodded, and was about to notify the officers in the interrogation room to release him when Song Guanchao said, "No rush, spreading the word takes time."

He walked out of the interrogation room and returned two minutes later, saying, "Release him in an hour."

One hour later.

An officer came in, tossing a document: "Ruan Baoyou, sign it."

Ruan Baoyou glanced down at it, slightly surprised.

Were they letting him go just like that?

He couldn't help overthinking.

The police, having caught him, wouldn't normally let him go so quickly.

Surely there was a plan.

But he didn't bother to think much, fearing no conspiracy or trick.

After signing, reclaiming his confiscated phone and other belongings, Ruan Baoyou stood up to leave.

As he exited the bureau, Liang Jianfeng stood by the door, expression grim: "Ruan Baoyou, I will make sure you face justice!"

Ruan Baoyou smiled, "Officer, what do you mean by that? I haven't committed any crime, so why would I need to face justice?"

At that moment, a taxi pulled up to the curb.

"Goodbye, Officer."

Ruan Baoyou threw a mocking smile, opened the car door, and got in.

As soon as he left, he saw Song Guanchao driving and following.

Liang Jianfeng immediately stopped him: "Xiao Song..."

Before finishing, he noticed Wu Qiangwei in the passenger seat.

"Secretary Wu..."

"Mr. Liang, you should go back, I'll keep an eye on him."

With Wu Qiangwei speaking up, Liang Jianfeng had nothing more to say.

He didn't really buy what Song Guanchao had said just now, but with Wu Qiangwei following, things probably wouldn't get too out of hand.

He nodded and let Song Guanchao go.

In the car, Song Guanchao said, "Secretary, aren't you going to ask what I'm planning to do?"

Wu Qiangwei replied, "Didn't you just explain to Director Liang?"

Song Guanchao said, "I lied to him."

"Director Liang is too rigid, without a reasonable excuse, he wouldn't agree."

Wu Qiangwei hummed, unsurprised, "I knew you lied to him."

Song Guanchao was surprised, "Secretary, aren't you afraid I might do something illegal?"

Wu Qiangwei said, "Didn't you say it yourself, conventional methods won't solve it."

"Right now, it's an unusual time, using some unconventional methods is understandable."

Song Guanchao was stunned for two seconds, then said no more.

In the taxi.

Ruan Baoyou noticed the route differed from his intended destination and frowned, "You're on the wrong path."

The driver smiled, "No mistake, we're right here."

Ruan Baoyou was about to speak when suddenly there was movement from the back seat.

He turned his head and saw a man had appeared in the back seat unnoticed.

The man held a gun, pressing it to Ruan Baoyou's head.

The cold sensation from his scalp confirmed it was a real gun!

He swallowed hard, "You, you..."

"Mr. Ruan, cooperate and don't move. The car is small, if the gun accidentally fires, your clever head is gone."

"I'll cooperate, I'll cooperate."

Ruan Baoyou quickly raised his hands, "Brothers, you're police, right? This is a crime."

"Police?"

The man sneered, pressing the gun harder into his forehead, "Shut your mouth, say one more word, and I'll shoot you."

Ruan Baoyou had seen a lot, mixing with all sorts of people.

Just from their eye contact, he saw an unmistakable thuggish aura from this man.

This man was definitely not a cop.

And definitely a ruthless one!

In all likelihood, the gun had tasted blood before.

Arguing with such a person was pointless, the best approach was to obey him obediently.

The car drove along the dark night road, and Ruan Baoyou's mind was spinning.

Who kidnapped him?

First, it couldn't be someone from the police.

So, who was it?

Who knew he was taken by the police?

Was it someone local from the Lingjiang committee?

While speculating, the car stopped at an abandoned factory.

"Get out!"

The man forced him out of the car with the gun, walked him to an open area, and kicked his knee.

Ruan Baoyou's leg buckled, kneeling onto the gravel, causing immense pain.

He had just knelt when another car drove up.

The car stopped nearby, and when Ruan Baoyou looked back, the bright headlights made him squint.

Song Guanchao parked the car and said, "Secretary, no matter what happens next, don't get out, otherwise this whole plan goes to waste."

"Okay." Wu Qiangwei knew he had his limits, no need to remind him.

Song Guanchao got out, casting a long shadow under the headlights.

As he approached, Ruan Baoyou finally saw his face clearly.

He opened his mouth, incredulous.

"Song Guanchao?"

"How... how did you get out?"

Bam!

Song Guanchao kicked him in the chest, knocking the wind out of Ruan Baoyou, who took several seconds to catch his breath.

But he couldn't care less about the pain in his body.

He didn't understand why a murder suspect like Song Guanchao was here.

Song Guanchao extended his hand, and the man handed over the gun.

Without speaking, he aimed the gun at one of Ruan Baoyou's legs.

"Bang!"

At close range, the bullet went straight through his thigh, blood gushing.

Ruan Baoyou was stunned, and only after a couple of seconds did the pain hit him, prompting him to clutch his thigh and wail in agony.

In the car, Wu Qiangwei was also stunned.

He fired the gun?

Wu Qiangwei reached to open the door but recalled Song Guanchao's advice; she bit her lip and retracted her hand.

Taking a deep breath, she kept her gaze fixed on Song Guanchao.

She trusted Song Guanchao wouldn't shoot without reason.

There must be a reason for his actions.

Ruan Baoyou continued to wail and roll on the ground.

"Smack!"

Song Guanchao stepped on his chest to pin him down, took out a cigarette, and the man beside him immediately lit it.

Song Guanchao squatted down, resting the smoke-spewing barrel of the gun against Ruan Baoyou's forehead.

The cigarette's glow cast shifting shadows over Song Guanchao's somewhat wicked face as seen by Ruan Baoyou.

"Lu Zhizhong is quite ruthless, trying to flee after embezzling Lingjiang's assets, and wanting to take me down with him?"

"Doesn't matter, I'm just a secretary, a life worth little; kill you first, then Zhu Qiushui, and finally Lu Zhizhong. One life for three, it's worth it."

Click!

His finger gently squeezed the trigger.

Ruan Baoyou was scared out of his wits: "Don't kill me, don't kill me! Whatever you want to know, I'll tell you everything I know. Don't kill me!"

While in the car, though panicked, he was confident he could handle and negotiate with the other side smoothly.

But he hadn't foreseen that Song Guanchao wouldn't play by the rules.

Without questioning, he had already fired.

Watching this unfold, it seemed he truly intended to kill him!

Moreover, he guessed that Song Guanchao must have escaped from prison!

This guy wasn't a secretary; he was a reckless bandit ready to perish together with him!

Though he wasn't sure if Song Guanchao wanted any information from him, he couldn't worry about that now; he needed to think of something to say to pique Song Guanchao's interest.

Only by doing so could he buy time, possibly saving his life.
