Chapter 100: King and Queen of Angels

"...This is so... irritating," I mutter angrily, throwing a wine glass to the floor in disgust. The glass shatters, scattering shards and wine across the floor as I look at the mess with displeasure.

"Q-Qyraen-sama, d-do you need anything?" An angel girl speaks to me uncomfortably, bowing. I notice her wings trembling with fear.

"Yes, I need you to fetch Raguion. He should be just a few rooms away," I say disinterestedly, running my hand through my hair in anger over those filthy beings from the demon continent.

"R-Right away." She practically runs out of the room as I open the system, looking at my general status and the general status of my husband, who is my dear older brother.

'This is so irritating. I can't erase the personality part no matter how strong I am.' I flutter my wings in annoyance. If someone could see my general status, they would see my personality listed like that, which isn't the image I try to project to our people as the Queen of Angels.

'At least no one can see the general status that my King and I have...' I lead the angel race; I must never let problems spread. Although many wouldn't care about this, opponents could try to use it to gain benefits.

It's not like they could affect my position. I am the Queen of Angels, and my brother is the King of Angels, and that isn't something chosen lightly, so no one would ever try to remove us from our posts.

But some might try to gain advantages, though I think I'm just being overly "proactive" about it, since it's been over 200 years and no one has ever tried anything.

There are two types of "Status." One is the Personal Status that only the owner can see, and the other is a General Status that people with specific skills or relics can see.

The two statuses I'm looking at now are the general ones, viewable with specific skills or relics, but such skills are rare.

"Qyraen, dear, what are you doing?" I hear the voice of my dear King as the sound of the door reaches me. I quickly look at him, excited.

"Raguion, my Love, it's good you're here. I'm still bothered by the General Status. It's so... efficient. I can't alter it even though I'm so strong," I say, sitting up properly and crossing my legs.

"Hahaha, you worry too much, little sister. It doesn't matter if others see it. It's not like they can do anything, after all. We are the King and Queen. Our people love us, we are strong, and above all, we are a superior race," he says, citing our race.

Our race gives us many advantages. [True Ancestral Angel] is the race of the direct lineage of our founder. Whoever has this race is a direct relative of the main lineage of the one who pioneered this angelic continent and created our home.

"I know... It's just that we still don't have a pair of children to marry and inherit our posts in the proper way. And there's that garbage Demon King who keeps destroying our advances. I hate that thing so much; she is far too strong," I say with an irritated sigh as he comes over to me.

"Love, you're being too hard on yourself. It's not like this is something unforeseen," he says while giving me a kiss on my forehead, sitting down beside me and putting his arm behind me, holding my waist.

"...Haaa... Yeah... The Demon King is a problematic existence... but at least with our constant attacks, we have the guarantee that the Demon King will never have the freedom to do as she pleases," I say, moving and climbing onto his lap.

"Yes, he is problematic, but since we attack at all times, he needs to concentrate on defense... Although, sister, I've discovered that someone with the title of Hero is over there, seeking peace..." When he says this, my wings twitch uncomfortably.

"..." He also seems bothered, as this is truly terrible news to receive.

"A... hero... That could be terrible for our plans..." I say, biting my lip. He surely knows the implications of this.

"If the humans help the demons, we'll have problems. Currently, we've maintained the balance for years, but we can only maintain this balance because the demons cannot come to our continent," he says while holding my hips with both hands.

"Yes... We purposely send limited troops precisely to keep everything stagnant. But if the humans get involved in this, we will have to send real troops and form a large army," I say with a sigh.

We angels haven't truly fought seriously for the last 300 years. We only attack the demons strategically to prevent them from developing freely, since with our attacks they are forced to defend themselves, thus spending resources they don't have.

So we send just enough soldiers to force them to move into a war footing as well, but we never send more than necessary. If we truly wanted a total war, we would send a colossal number of troops.

But we don't want that. To begin with, the demon territory is useless for angels, and it's good that the demons living there kill monsters, reducing their numbers.

The demon territory is hostile, and despite having good land for agriculture, mining, and resource extraction, it's still far inferior to our continent. Meanwhile, their continent has far too many risks for carrying out any of those activities safely, not to mention the six different climate types they have, which is another inconvenience.

So our attacks are only to force them to stay in line, and not necessarily to try and steal their territories. After all, why would we want that pile of garbage when we have a paradise of our own?

"Sister, do you think the Demon King will try to invade us? Because I honestly think that if she gets support from the humans, she will undoubtedly try to come to this continent," Raguion asks, pulling me closer, the heat of his body right next to me.

"Possibly, if the humans help her, yes, she will try to invade us. To begin with, he has many good reasons to do so, so we can't allow it... but with someone with the title of Hero over there, we'll have problems..." We can't just kill the Hero; after all, he is someone "neutral" and can only be attacked if he attacks first.

'Why did a hero have to be born among the humans, of all races?' The hero could have been born as an angel; it would be much more useful and dignified for someone so important in this world.

"Well... sister, how about we destroy this alliance between humans and demons?" he says with a wide smile.

"...?"

"If the Demon King wants an alliance with the humans through someone who is a hero, then why don't we try to kill this hero? Just imagine when everyone finds out: 'Hero dies in the demon continent, poisoned.' Who do you think will be blamed?" he says with a malicious smile.

"..."

"Hahaha, you are so evil, darling. If that happens, the humans will become complete enemies of the demons, and maybe even those stupid beasts might fight the demons too," I say, hugging him with a smile.

"That's a great idea, although it will be difficult to pull off. I've heard that heroes are quite complex to eliminate because fate seems to help them achieve their goals."

"But there's nothing like using the greed of those filthy rats against them. I'm sure we could get some demon to try and poison this hero if we pay enough," I say to him, kissing his cheek.

"You are so wicked too, my Queen," he says while kissing my mouth. I hug him tightly, kissing him back, until I hear the sound of the door. My wings flare open in frustration as we stop kissing.

"What do you want here?" I say sharply to the same girl from before who went to call my brother.

"I'm sorry to b-bother you... I-I just came to see if you needed anything." She bows to the floor as she speaks, terrified.

'She's new here, right?' My servants are already accustomed and don't act like this, so her fear is simply the fear of a novice.

'Well, I guess it doesn't matter.' Many new servants are afraid of me until they've spent enough time around me. It's not like I'm a tyrant; I treat my people and my servants well as long as they act in accordance with the laws.

"You may leave. I am perfectly fine and now wish to have some leisure time with my brother. Inform your supervisor that I want privacy for the rest of the day, and also inform her that I am canceling the 7:00 PM meeting," I say to her, turning all my attention back to Raguion.

"U-Understood." I hear her footsteps retreating as Raguion gives me a little smile.

"You are so sweet. What do you mean by 'leisure,' love?" he asks ironically.

"Don't tease me like that, sweetie. It's obvious I'm talking about us making a few children. After all, we need a princess and a prince to be the future kings and queens. We must maintain the purity of our lineage," I say with a lascivious smile.

"Of course we do. Although I was busy before, I'll leave that for later. After all, nothing is more important than my Queen," he says, pulling me close to begin right here.
