Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven

Chapter 116: Rank 5 Core

Ved watched the largest mountain he had ever seen with wonder. It was so tall he couldn't even see it peak.

The mountain was covered in lush green trees, a layer of snow ran around it like a belt below the giant fluffy clouds.

The island where the this mountain stood was huge, large enough to house two countries.

A dense jungle covered the entire island like a green blanket. The world essence energy on said island was so thick, it had turned into faint blue mist around the island.

He felt very uncomfortable being here, his scales itched and his muscles felt like they were being burnt by acid, he found breathing to be hard.

Ursela noticed his discomfort and a thin blue film of energy shielded his body and blocked the essence.

He took a huge breath. Ursela released her aura, a powerful pressure shook the air. Then there was movements in the late surrounding the island.

The waters churned and a huge shadow appeared from below. Following the shadow was an aura even more terrifying than Ursela's.

The aura was as heavy as a mountain, had Ursela not been protecting him, he bet it would've crushed him. Then the shadow came out and Ved saw the largest turtle he had ever seen.

It body looked like a mountain, water ran through the cracks on it giant blue shell like rivers. It giant eyes turned towards them, they focused on Ved for a moment then turned to Ursela.

A deep powerful voice that shook the air echoed across the sky. " Quite rude, is this how you greet your elders you cheeky brat? It hadn't been that long since we last met and it seems you've grown even more arrogant."

Ursela's mouth twitched. " Have you grown senile you old hag? Not that long? Last time we met was over 3000 years ago."

The voice sounded surprised. " Truly? Time flies doesn't it? I don't think you're here for another beating, so what do you want this time?"

The voice asked with a bit of annoyance. Ursela grinned. She grabbed Ved by one of his spikes and put him forward.

Even though he was much larger than her humanoid body, she didn't look akward while holding him.

" Look look, a dragon, this is my little brother. He's very strong, I brought him to try out the King's Trial. He's going to be your master, my little brother is going to be your master, does that not piss you off.?"

She had a smug grin. The giant turtle disappeared and in it place appeared a beautiful woman with plumb cheeks and unnaturally large bossoms.

She was around 2 metres tall, with light brown skin, long blue hair with green strands. There were faints green smudges on her cheeks that made her look even more dazzling.

She was dressed in a long green and blue dress that stuck tightly to her body. She spoke, her voice much softer and more pleasant than before.

" Why would that anger me? My ancestors have waited so long for a successor." Ursela clicked her tongue.

" Fine but don't be mad when I tell him to order you around." The turtle lady giggled. " You seem to have a misunderstanding on what the ancestors oath was.

Anyways, are you sure this child can pass the trial of the king's inheritance?" She looked at him skeptically.

" I don't know but he's the only dragon born in this minor world since forever, if he can't then nobody ever will. I think it worth a try."

Ved stood there quietly, not daring to interfere in the conversation of these two old monsters. The turtle lady turned around. " Follow me" she beckoned them.

Her body flickered and disappeared, moving so fast Ved couldn't even follow her shadow. Ursela followed, the world seemed to bend around her.

In a blink of an eye they appeared near a small wooden house on the edge of the island.

There was a small flower garden infront of the house. Ved could sense two people inside.

He stood outside as Ursela and the turtle lady went inside. He was too large to follow them in, infact he was larger than the house itself.

A few seconds later they came out, behind them was a teenage girl and a big burly man. " Oh, where are my manners, let me introduce myself, my name is Nimue, this is my husband Novak and our little Traxy." She pointed at the teenage girl and the burly man.

Novak's aura was slightly weaker than her's, he was a rank 5 as well but his bloodline seemed to be slightly weaker than her's but Traxy was a rank 4, her aura was even weaker than Ved's.

Ved could swear he had felt her aura somewhere but he couldn't remember where. He introduced himself to them as well.

Then Nimue promised to take him to the inheritance trial ground the following day. They talked all night, the teenage girl seemed very interested in him.

His lack of essence made her curious, infact when her parents asked about that. Ved just shrugged, he couldn't explain it either.

However his lack of essence made them doubt if he would be able to pass the trial or not.

However at some point Traxy came out with a fist sized white core. The moment it appeared Ved's body reacted.

He felt an overwhelming craving but the others gave it disgusted look. " Traxy put that away, I don't know why we're even keeping that thing." Nimue complained.

Novak scoffed, his voice boomed like war drums. "What do you know woman, that's my greatest war trophy. What man would throw their price away."

Nimue sighed but didn't argue, she knew her husband wouldn't back down on this, she had tried for years to get rid of that thing, it smelled terrible but he fought her on it every time.

Ved recognised that core, it was an envoy's core, a rank 5 envoy's core. Which brought another surprise to him.

He could tell Novak's bloodline was heaven grade but an envoy was equivalent to a legendary grade.

Did that mean he single handedly defeated an envoy an entire grade above him while at the same rank?

That would be crazy, Ved decided to ask about it. Nimue answered first. " Yes, while my husband is useless in everything else, he's really strong.

Even though my bloodline is an entire grade above his, he might actually be stronger than I am in an all out fight. Infact, amongst the turtle race he probably has the strongest defence."

Ved was surprised by this, Novak looked proud of himself. Then Ved asked the real question, if he could have the core.

They were confused at first but he explained how it was beneficial to him. Novak was reluctant at first but with his wife's gently and definitely not violent persuasion, he agreed.

Without wasting a moment Ved ate the core in a single bite.
