Ethan chuckled softly. He raised both hands and placed his fingertips against the foreheads of Kara and her disciple.
"Quiet."
The word fell lightly, yet it carried an invisible authority.
A low, ancient cadence echoed in the room as Ethan silently recited the Sacred Words. The sound did not travel through air—it resonated directly within the soul.
Golden radiance bloomed.
The light was gentle rather than blinding, solemn rather than tyrannical. It flowed like warm water, wrapping around Kara and Morwen, seeping into their meridians, sinking into their consciousness seas.
The chaos in their eyes ebbed.
The violent heat raging through their bodies receded like a tide withdrawing from shore. Boiling blood cooled, restless desire dissolved, and the oppressive haze shrouding their spirits was peeled away layer by layer.
No matter how vicious the aphrodisiac, it could not withstand the purifying cadence of the Great Mercy Requiem technique.
"Holographic Eyes, open."
Ethan's pupils shimmered with faint blue light.
"Alicia, analyze the toxin."

[Identified substance: Mind-Bewildering Powder.]
Ethan let out a low laugh.
"Mind-Bewildering Powder… so that's what he used."
An ancient dual-cultivation elixir. Once famed, later infamous. Designed to awaken suppressed instincts, to magnify desire, to shatter restraint—not through poison, but through temptation.
He shook his head lightly.
"I didn't expect Luca to stoop to something this crude."
Crude, yet effective.
In another era, this powder had been hoarded by emperors and patriarchs, used not as a weapon, but as a luxury—to heighten pleasure, to improve bloodline inheritance, to increase the odds of conceiving peerless offspring.
But used like this?
Disgusting.
Fortunately, Ethan had long since acquired system-grade detoxification pills. Compared to those, this so-called supreme aphrodisiac was nothing more than a troublesome irritant.
The infatuation dispersed. Detoxifying it was trivial.
By now, Kara and Morwen's bodies had gone limp, like overstretched strings finally released. The fever faded, leaving behind exhaustion and weakness.
Ethan carefully fed each of them an antidote pill.
He adjusted their clothes, straightened the disordered bedding, and ensured no trace of the earlier chaos remained.
Then he sat calmly at the desk, pouring himself a cup of tea, waiting.
Three minutes passed.
Kara's eyelashes fluttered. Her eyes snapped open, clarity rushing back in an instant. She sat upright abruptly, fingers running through her disheveled hair.
Her gaze dropped to her clothes.
Then froze.
A wave of horror surged across her face.
"Mind-Bewildering Powder," Ethan said calmly, not looking up.
"Colorless, odorless. Strong aphrodisiac. Already neutralized. Don't worry—you're still innocent."
Kara exhaled sharply, as if she had been holding her breath for an eternity.
Relief washed over her, followed immediately by shame.
Memories flooded back—the burning heat, the loss of control, the blurred instincts clawing at her reason.
Her hands clenched.
"Luca…" Her voice trembled with suppressed fury.
"He deserves to die."
She steadied herself, then lifted her gaze to Ethan.
"…Did you see everything just now?"
Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Senior Sister, don't worry. I only saw a little."
Her eyes instantly sharpened. "What you saw tonight had better rot in your stomach."
Ethan laughed. "Senior Sister, I saved the lives—and reputations—of both master and disciple. Isn't that tone a bit ungrateful?"
Kara fell silent for a moment. Then she sighed.
"…Thank you, junior brother. No matter what, tonight's matter—please don't speak of it again."
"That depends on senior sister's performance," Ethan replied lightly, the corner of his mouth lifting.
Kara tugged her slipped skirt back into place. Then, as if struck by a sudden thought, she lifted the quilt and glanced beneath it.
Her face instantly flushed scarlet.
If there were a hole in the ground, she would have buried herself alive.
She shot Ethan a sideways glance and saw him smiling faintly—clearly amused.
The embarrassment only deepened.
At that moment, Morwen stirred.
She groaned softly, propping herself up. "Master… I feel so tired. My head hurts…"
"What happened…?"
Her vision cleared gradually. She looked down at her own hands—and froze.
Kara moved instantly.
A clean chop landed on Morwen's neck.
Morwen's eyes rolled back and she collapsed unconscious onto the bed.
"She just needs rest," Kara said flatly, as if nothing unusual had occurred.
She drew the curtains, swiftly changed the mattress and sheets, adjusted her disciple's clothes, and covered her with a quilt.
Only then did she sit back down at the desk.
Though her posture was composed, the faint blush lingering on her neck and cheeks betrayed her lingering unease. Her lowered gaze, the subtle stiffness in her movements—everything carried an unintended allure.
Ethan coughed lightly.
Kara cleared her throat as well, pretending composure.
Ethan poured her a cup of tea. "Senior Sister Kara, rest assured. Tonight is between us. I'm very strict with my words."
She nodded, still avoiding his eyes.
After a brief silence, she changed the subject.
"Luca returned the Sage Token he took earlier. I now have two."
She paused, then added, "If you don't have one yet, I can give you one."
Ethan smiled. "Give me one?"
"I appreciate your kindness," he continued, "but if you do that, how will you explain it to Luca?"
"He wants you and your disciple to enter the Training Trial Secret Realm with him."
"Luca came for me," Kara replied calmly.
"Morwen doesn't have to follow. The entrance appears for a limited time. By then, he won't have the leisure to interrogate me."
"You're risking your life," Ethan said quietly.
"Inside the Trial Realm, Luca will have allies everywhere."
Kara met his gaze steadily.
"Afraid?" she asked.
"If I were afraid of death, I wouldn't be here."
"In the Training Trial, everyone is suppressed to the Mahayana Realm. Whether Luca can truly crush me is still uncertain."
"And if things turn bad, I can flee. That place is dangerous enough that even he won't easily catch me."
Ethan took a sip of tea. "Don't underestimate him. As the Holy Son of the Heavenly Demon Sect, he definitely has hidden trump cards."
"Your situation is dangerous—no matter how you look at it."
Kara leaned back slightly, eyes narrowing.
"You're right," she said slowly, "but wasn't it you, junior brother, who asked me to drink the poisonous wine?"
