"Haha, although your attack is strong, how many times can you use it?"
"If you can't kill me with one strike, you will be the one who dies!"
Luca's voice was cold and confident. He drew in a long breath, the violent fluctuations of demonic energy settling as his fighting spirit reignited like a furnace stoked anew.
"I don't have time to talk nonsense with you." Ethan replied lightly. His tone was relaxed, almost lazy, as if Luca's existence did not even warrant a second glance.
"I'll treat those words as your last."
"People from a small Dao sect dare to bark in front of me?" Luca sneered.
"I want to see how powerful this move of yours really is. Come."
The fire coiling around the spear in his hand surged violently. The heat distorted the space itself, and Luca's aura rose once more, thicker, heavier—like molten iron poured into the air.
"Since you're so eager to reincarnate," Ethan said calmly, "I'll grant your wish."
He stretched out his palm.
The Star of Great Stillness, floating above his hand. It drifted forward without sound, like a plum blossom falling through winter air—gentle, silent, yet carrying the weight of annihilation.
Luca stood unmoving, eyes locked onto the approaching star. The terrifying pressure rolling off it made his scalp prickle, instinct screaming danger.
But when the Star of Great Stillness reached within one foot of him, Luca suddenly sneered.
He clenched his palm.
"Burn!"
A shrill scream tore through the cave.
Dark demonic fire erupted once more from Morwen's body—far stronger than before. The flames twisted like living serpents, gnawing into her flesh. fire spread rapidly across her skin as she collapsed, rolling on the ground in agony.
"Morwen!" Kara shouted, her face turning pale.
"I… Master… I can hold on…" Morwen gasped through clenched teeth.
Ethan's brows furrowed. With a thought, he halted the Star of Great Stillness midair.
"Oh?" Luca laughed. "Why did you stop? Go on. I thought you were decisive."
The corners of his mouth curled upward in mockery. Using Morwen's life as leverage, he had seized control of the battle.
"The dignified Holy Son of the Heavenly Demon Sect," Kara spat coldly, "resorting to threatening juniors. How despicable."
"Hahaha—despicable?" Luca roared with laughter. "That's the excuse of the weak."
He looked at Ethan, eyes gleaming with malice. "I planted Mind-Bewildering Powder on both Kara and Morwen long ago. Once it activates, they'll become lust-driven beasts, slaves to their desires."
"You should feel honored," Luca said with a grin.
"To enjoy such a scene with me watching."
"Can a mere demonic fire stop me?" Ethan asked flatly.
"Of course not," Luca replied. "But it's more than enough to deal with this little girl."
He clenched his hands again.
The flames intensified.
Morwen screamed, her voice hoarse as her body convulsed.
"Morwen," Kara said urgently, "don't endure it. Resist with your demonic energy—I'll help you!"
Morwen immediately sat cross-legged, teeth gritted. Demonic energy surged violently from her dantian, condensing into a dark barrier that wrapped around her body. The demonic fire slammed against it, sizzling and roaring.
At the same time, Ethan flicked his wrist.
A pill flew through the air and landed in Kara's palm.
Without hesitation, Kara mobilized her demonic energy, helping Morwen suppress the fire while stuffing the pill into her mouth.
If this had been outside, the demonic fire would have incinerated Morwen instantly.
But here, all of them stood in the Mahayana Realm.
Morwen herself was a Mahayana cultivator.
No matter how tyrannical the demonic fire was, she could resist it—especially with Kara's help.
Slowly, the flames weakened.
Luca watched the scene, laughter bubbling up again. "Hahaha! So you finally couldn't hold back. Come, Ethan. Enjoy what happens next."
But when the demonic fire dissipated completely and the Mind-Bewildering Powder failed to activate, Kara and Morwen remained unchanged.
They stood up.
Calm. Clear-eyed.
Kara looked at Luca with naked mockery.
"What…?" Luca's expression froze. "Why didn't the Mind-Bewildering Powder work?"
"How is this possible?!"
"Kara—what did you do?!" he roared.
"I did nothing," Kara replied coolly.
"You poisoned us that night. Junior Brother Ethan detoxified us back then."
She smiled faintly. "Every move you've made since arriving here has been under his control, Your Highness the Holy Son."
"Detoxified?" Luca staggered back half a step. "Impossible!"
Morwen blinked in confusion. "Poison? What poison?"
Fragments of memory surfaced—heat, suffocation, repeated fainting… and an indistinct, shameful dream that lingered like a phantom.
Her face paled.
"So… that wasn't a dream?" she murmured inwardly.
"That Mind-Bewildering Powder is an ancient formula!" Luca shouted.
"I possess the antidote! What method did you use, Ethan?!"
Ethan did not answer.
He looked down at Luca as if staring at a corpse.
"Enough of this farce," he said indifferently. "You've talked long enough."
The words struck like a blade.
"Courting death!" Luca exploded in rage.
He hurled the spear into the air and rapidly formed seals with both hands. Demonic patterns etched across his body flared with black-blue light, crawling up his neck, across his face, and finally converging at the center of his brows.
There, they condensed into a strange and ancient sigil—one Ethan had never seen before.
"Demon Xarion Veldrith, Innate Ancestral Pattern!"
Kara's expression changed instantly. All levity vanished from her eyes.
"His bloodline…!" she whispered.
"Innate ancestral pattern?" Ethan asked calmly. "An inheritance?"
"Not exactly," Kara replied, her voice grave.
"It's the manifestation of bloodline power taken to the extreme."
"Luca is a direct descendant of Xarion Veldrith—the Demon Ancestor who existed before the Ancient times."
"The Demon Ancestor's bloodline is terrifying, but only one in a million can awaken it. When that bloodline resonates deeply enough with its origin, it condenses an ancestral pattern."
Her fists clenched.
"Activating it grants overwhelming power—though its exact limits are unknown."
"Among the Black Demon Sect, no one in the last thousand years has condensed an ancestral pattern."
"Such people… are true monsters."
She looked at Luca, whose aura now pressed down like a collapsing heaven.
"In the entire Heavenly Demon Sect, only the Demon Supreme himself ever possessed an innate ancestral pattern."
Her voice turned heavy.
"Unexpectedly, his disciple, the Holy Son Luca, also condensed the innate ancestral patterns."
