Ghost Compendium

Chapter 234: Purgatory of Utopia

"Get out of here!"

With Hazati's roar, the blue flame in his eyes momentarily spread from beyond his eye sockets to cover his entire body. Even Wu Liang, whose physical attributes had been enhanced by the Breaking Blade, felt a scorching burn.

Instinctively, he jumped away from Hazati, standing by the SUV, one hand touching his chin while the other rhythmically tapped the car door.

Narrowing his eyes, he studied the information popped up by the Ghost Compendium—

[Hate Fuel]

[Once it contacts human blood in any way, it will lurk inside, fully enhancing the human body and affecting their rationality, making them more prone to extremities]

[When hate, anger, regret, and all negative emotions reach a certain peak, it will completely transform the entire body's blood into fuel, uncontrollably burning it for enhancement until death]

[Note: This fuel will react with all separated fuel that splits out]

[Apart from waiting for the fuel to be exhausted, the burning process cannot be stopped]

The information about this supernatural object had not been revealed before, but seeing it appear now on the Ghost Compendium indicated only one thing—

Hazati's entire self was now a supernatural object, or rather, all his blood had been transformed into Hate Fuel!

"Die... you die for me!"

Looking at the figure in front of him, whose speech was starting to slur, Wu Liang sighed, clearly aware that Hazati was nearly devoid of reason.

He had more or less guessed what Pioneer intended to do, though he wasn't completely certain yet.

Hoo —

Accompanied by a wave of scorching heat, blue flames gushed out from Hazati's severed limbs, forming limbs of fire forcing him to stand.

Unfortunately, this situation couldn't last long, because these flames were burning Hazati's blood every second.

His only thought now was to tear everything in front of him apart while his blood was still abundant!

Hazati saw Wu Liang standing in a daze not far away, and he pounced at him like a starving tiger.

"Are you trying to test my resistance to supernatural objects?" Wu Liang muttered to himself, ignoring Hazati who was already within reach.

The fiery claw came down with scorching heat, seemingly about to split Wu Liang into two.

But at the moment of contact, a wisp of mist emerged in the air, condensing into a solid shield.

Bang—Zzz—

A thud sounded, followed by the sizzling sound of something being intensely burned.

In Wu Liang's amazed gaze, the Mist Shield gradually showed a handprint, and within seconds, a smudge of blue flame seeped through.

The Mist Shield, created by the city-destroying level Mist Ghost, had been burned through in such a short time!

It's noteworthy that this was merely a supernatural object, not something on par with a Fierce Ghost!

"Give up, you can't burn this thing into my blood."

Sidestepping the lethal claw, Wu Liang casually conjured a Mist Rod, hitting Hazati's back of the head hard.

The heavy strike smashed half of his skull into pulp.

Thinking the opponent would finally fall, he didn't expect Hazati to not even have a moment of sluggishness as he reached out again, aiming for Wu Liang's heart.

But just centimeters before contact, Hazati suddenly froze.

Upon closer inspection, chains formed by massive mist bound him tightly at every part, while the Mist Ghost was tugging at the chain's origin, locking him in place.

Whenever a bit of chain burned away, new mist would replenish it to form chains again, ensuring complete control over this guy.

"Uh... die... uh..."

Hazati had now completely become a flame monster, or rather a humanoid, mobile firebomb.

"Drag this guy inside and let him see for himself what he's done," Wu Liang motioned expressionlessly to the Mist Ghost, then turned to Ah Yimu and the Sentinel, saying, "You two should also see the mess Pioneer's made."

Having said that, he walked towards the now half-open heavy iron door.

Glancing at the iron door he dismantled violently last time, the Utopian Village residents had since repaired it.

He lifted his hand and slowly pushed it open.

A scene of purgatory was displayed before everyone.

Fire... blue flames everywhere.

They turned the entire Utopia No. 2 Village into an extremely eerie blue, with large numbers of villagers displaying fearful expressions running to the streets for help, their wails echoing across the village.

These villagers naturally feared the blue flame monsters, just like Hazati.

[Fuel will react with all separated fuel that splits out]

This was something specially noted on the Ghost Compendium, clearly indicating that Hazati wasn't the only one possessing Hate Fuel.

As he was completely influenced and began burning, the Hate Fuel in others' possession would also ignite.

Thus, even standing at the village entrance, Wu Liang and others could look inside and see seven or eight blue flame monsters rampaging.

Everything they touched started burning - including people.

The burning of houses and other objects didn't matter; at most, it would cause large-scale fires, which meant nothing to Wu Liang, capable of extinguishing entire primitive forest fires.

But humans were different.

People who got touched would have their blood transformed and begin burning, quickly turning into another blue flame monster, seeking others to transform.

One infects ten, ten infects hundreds, hundreds infect thousands.

If no one stops all this, perhaps the entire Utopia No. 2 Village would soon fall and turn into an ocean of blue flame monsters, expanding the range of influence of this supernatural object as much as possible until all blood was consumed.

"Do you see? This is what Pioneer wants to do! His talk of salvation is nothing but absurd lies; all he brings is fear!" Wu Liang berated the restrained Hazati.

Allowing the Sentinel and Ah Yimu to hear his curses as well.

"Your lives are like lab mice to Pioneer; he only cares about what impact this disaster will have on me, not the casualties it will cause!"

By now, Wu Liang was certain about Pioneer's trap.

If he tried his best to protect all the Utopian Village dwellers, he risked being contaminated by Hate Fuel, seeing if this thing could ignite his own blood.

If yes, he'd be doomed.

If not, Pioneer could assess his ability to deal with this supernatural phenomenon.

But if he ignored these people, there'd be no need to think further - this bastard would surely try to pin the blame on him.

At this sensitive juncture of confrontation between the Promised Land and officials, if the hero who saved Chengyang City committed such inhumane acts, undecided Awakened and Symbionts among the civilians would increasingly lean towards the Promised Land.

This was, accurately speaking, an open conspiracy.
