Ghost Compendium

Chapter 374: Things Remain People Change (Part 2)

This could be considered the hidden effect of being "unimpeded".

Otherwise, every time a ghost taxi is out in this beat-up junk, it would've been stopped by the police long ago.

"Hello, this is the Ghost Hunting Bureau Headquarters. Do you have an appointment?"

Just after getting out of the car, a burly man in a combat suit came over asking Wu Liang expressionlessly.

This was one of the reasons why Wu Liang was doubtful about whether he came to the right place earlier.

Because the changes here were just too drastic!

Whether it's the security measures set up around that are as strict as the military, the basic non-familiar presence inside the building, or even the massive changes in the entire structure of the official headquarters building.

Aside from its larger size, the building was now equipped with numerous gigantic devices with purposes Wu Liang couldn't comprehend at all.

Each device occupied several hundred square meters.

This made the entire official headquarters building look as intimidating as a fortress.

"Uh? Appointment? What appointment? Can't I just be here for a walk around the neighborhood?" Wu Liang spoke his usual nonsensical words offhandedly.

After all, he just got out of the car and merely glanced at the official building once, and this guard directly approached from the gate all the way to the parking spot to question him.

Damn! Isn't this a bit too exaggerated?

Has the official rule become so strict that even a glance is not allowed? Brother Long, what on earth are you doing!

"A walk? Please show me your citizen identification." The burly man said with a frown, "Please don't make any other moves besides that, or I will take coercive measures."

"Huh? Playing the American style on me, huh?" Wu Liang scratched the back of his head, genuinely baffled this time.

No one expected that just by raising his hand to scratch his head, Wu Liang's tiny move would trigger the burly man.

A strange dark green flashed in the other's hand, quickly delivering a series of punches towards Wu Liang's body.

However, what should have been an overpowering attack capable of knocking down beasts like lions and tigers seemed slow as a crawling turtle in Wu Liang's eyes.

He could even deduce, from the tight muscles and direction of force exerted by the opponent, that the burly man was targeting his joints.

Regardless of whether the dark green light in the opponent's hand had any special effects, just the targeted positions alone would be fully dislocated under this strength, wouldn't they?

This truly is a technique that can render someone powerless without causing fatal harm and knocking them unconscious.

Thud thud thud thud——

Four dull sounds echoed on the body.

The burly man collapsed on the ground with disbelief, unable to stand with completely powerless limbs.

Forcing himself to glance down, he found all his joints were dislocated and unhitched.

"Buddy, for your intention not to really hurt me, when I meet Dragon later, I'll ask him to reattach your arms and legs," Wu Liang said with a grin, patting the man's shoulder, ready to stride into the building.

But he saw the man enduring the pain from dislocations, shakily extracting a small black dot from his pocket, then raised it and smashed it hard.

The next moment, the entire official building was suddenly sheltered by a powerful blue shield.

Several stern-looking personnel in combat gear with no weak aura rushed out from the entrance.

Upon laying eyes on Wu Liang, they directly raised their firearms without hesitation, pulling the trigger.

Bang bang bang——

A series of flashes and gunshots erupted, followed by Wu Liang's somewhat annoyed cursing.

"Damn it, isn't that enough! Since when had the officials become so unreasonable? Shooting on sight? Is this how Dragon leads his subordinates?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the personnel in front suddenly felt a shadow sweep past them.

Subsequently, the firearms in their hands inexplicably fell to the ground, turning into lumps of iron.

Upon closer inspection, it was noticeable that each lump bore marks of being pinched, as if someone with terrifying strength had crushed the firearms into iron lumps in that instant.

"Target at least City Destruction! Initiate the backup plan! Notify an A-level Ghost Hunter!" The leading combat personnel immediately shouted into a walkie-talkie.

But unexpectedly, in the next second, Wu Liang's gentle face appeared less than half a meter in front of him.

Even before he could resist, the walkie-talkie was already in Wu Liang's hand.

This scene left all of them dumbfounded.

They had never encountered such a strange Fierce Ghost. Instead of snatching the combatants' lives, it aimed for the walkie-talkie?

"Ahem, ahem, testing, testing... 1... 2... 3!"

Holding the walkie-talkie, Wu Liang joked in a familiar provocative tone, "I don't know who is on the other end of the walkie-talkie, but kindly ask Director Long to come downstairs immediately, or notify any member of the Zodiac Department. Otherwise, I'll have to personally train these little punks downstairs on behalf of Zodiac Dragon."

After speaking, he lazily inserted the walkie-talkie back into the pocket of the combat personnel in front of him.

The counterpart was drenched in sweat, yet made no retaliatory measures.

Or rather—unable to.

He could feel every limb on his body, but simply couldn't get them to move.

The feeling was almost like being strapped under a mountain, making it hard to breathe, let alone make any other movements.

"Alright, alright, I was just scaring the guys on the other end of the walkie-talkie, not really going to do anything, relax," Wu Liang said with a smile.

He even reached out to brush dust off the combat personnel's shoulder, looking casual and relaxed.

But as the tension in the combat personnel slightly eased, Wu Liang's expression turned cold and he said indifferently, "But the training is real, if I were truly a Fierce Ghost, you all would be done for by now."

Boom——

A loud bang came from the empty ground in front of the official building, kicking up a cloud of dust into the air.

As the wind cleared away the dust, it became apparent that the combat personnel lay sprawled on the ground, their conditions unknown.

At least, there was no sign of life from any of them.

In an instant, Wu Liang was the only one left standing amidst the chaos in front of the building.

"Remember, when facing an irresistible enemy, the first thing you should do is—run!" Wu Liang loudly scolded them, "Surviving allows for things to happen later, don't just think sacrificing yourself is noble! Meaningless sacrifice is just throwing your life away!"

As he spoke, Wu Liang walked over to the initial burly man.

Bending down, he complimented the barely conscious man, "But your 'sacrifice' is meaningful, notifying your teammates in time about the attack, commendable spirit."

After the praise, he turned to chastise those combat personnel who kept rushing out of the official building, taking each of them down.

In less than half a minute, there were over a dozen combat personnel lying on the ground.

To give credit where it's due, the official response time was pretty quick, managing to send so many people in half a minute showed they were well-trained.

What surprised Wu Liang most was that each combatant was in the process of attempting to use their Awakened Ability when he floored them.

This instead indicated that Awakened were now everywhere in the real world.

Perhaps, as Wu Liang previously theorized, it had almost become a state of universal awakening.

"He's right! If you can't win, run! There's nothing disgraceful about it! Powerful enemies are for powerful allies, you need to keep your lives to save more civilians! Sacrificing needlessly holds no value!"

Suddenly, a booming voice came from near the entrance.

With anticipation, Wu Liang turned his head to look.

Only to find a strange man in beach shorts and casual wear, more looking like he was on vacation.

"Huh? Who are you, buddy? I asked for someone from the Zodiac Department to come down," Wu Liang asked, puzzled.

Yet the man smirked slightly and said, "The Zodiac Department… no one's mentioned that term in over half a year."

"Buddy, I'm from the Zodiac before it was disbanded—Zodiac Ox!

Training our brothers on behalf of Brother Long? Your tone is a bit too arrogant, isn't it?"
