A Core Ship From The Start

Chapter 1480: Combo Attack (With This Weather Ben Can Only Curl Up in the Nest)

Due to some delays, Duanmu Huai was the last to arrive at the base. When he and Xixi brought the core of the Wind Lawkeeper to the P21 independent base, the others had already gathered there on standby.

The two teams responsible for retrieving the God's Key had a smooth operation, encountering no trouble. Only Ann's team, tasked with recovering the core of the Ice Law, was attacked by the Thousand People Lawmaker on their way back, but they also managed to repel the opponent successfully.

Or rather... too smoothly.

"There's something wrong."

After listening to the report, Duanmu Huai's first reaction was this.

"There's definitely something wrong."

"You mean the Thousand People Lawmaker deliberately let us gather together?"

Dr. Mei also shared the same thought.

"Isn't that what you think? Moreover, wasn't it you who deliberately leaked the information? If the Thousand People Lawmaker wanted to deal with us, targeting us separately would obviously be the best choice. After all, they have a numerical advantage and are adept at disguise. But the fact is, although there were indeed several Lawyer Avatars taking action, their scale was far too small to be considered an assault.

Out of the four teams, only two were attacked. Duanmu's side faced three Lawyer Avatars, Ann's side four, totaling just seven—not even reaching ten. Compared to a thousand Lawmakers, this was hardly a loss at all.

The current question is, what exactly does the Thousand People Lawmaker plan to do?

"This base has already set up a Reality Stabilizing Anchor, and we're all gathered here. The Lawyer Core is fully sealed, and the God's Key is in place..."

At this point, Dr. Mei had a serious expression, knowing that although these measures weren't perfect, they were indeed the best they could manage. The issue is that the Lawmakers don't play by the rules, and these configurations might suffice for other Lawkeepers, but is this really enough against the Thousand People Lawmaker?

"Well, since we're here, let's take things as they come. I don't think they intend to have a prolonged confrontation with us."

According to the surveillance network of Fire Moth, the Lawyer Avatars that appeared worldwide had all vanished, leaving a peaceful atmosphere. But this eerie peace was even more unsettling, like a person clenching a fist not to give up, but to deliver a better blow...

Yet, since the other side hadn't taken action, there was no point in overthinking things. After a brief exchange, Dr. Mei returned to her lab work, while Duanmu Huai started to wander around the base, figuring there was nothing else to do anyway.

"Ah, Sir Judge!"

While Duanmu Huai was listlessly wandering in the corridor, a voice as light as a skylark called out beside him. Turning his head, he saw a girl with pink hair and fairy-like pointed ears smiling adorably and waving at him.

"Hello there."

"Oh, Alicia."

"Yes, it's Alicia—the adorable Fairy Girl."

In front of Duanmu Huai stood the first Fusion Warrior, self-proclaimed adorable Fairy Girl, Alicia. She perpetually roamed around with a cheerful smile, getting along well with everyone. It's not that she tries to charm others; rather, Alicia gives off the impression that anyone can have a conversation with her.

She was one of the very few who was not scared or intimidated after meeting Duanmu Huai for the first time but instead waved cheerfully at him.

"What are you up to?"

"Well, upon seeing Sir Judge, I came over to greet you. And I must complain a little—don't act so gruff in front of a young lady. Xixi was quite spooked when she came back."

"It's not my concern. She's a Fusion Warrior; if she can't handle this level of things, she shouldn't be on the battlefield."

"But I think it would be better if Sir Judge could look after her a bit."

"I'm not interested in being a babysitter."

Duanmu Huai shook his head.

"Where is everyone else?"

"They're being interviewed by that Foxman lady. I never knew there were so many interesting races up there; it's really nice. I wish I could travel through the universe and see its scenery; it must be fun."

"Then, hope the troubles here get resolved quickly; otherwise, none of you can go anywhere..."

Before Duanmu Huai could finish his words, the well-lit corridor suddenly plunged into darkness, followed by the emergency lights illuminating the hallway amid the sound of a shrill alarm.

"...What's happening?"

Duanmu Huai furrowed his brow, looking at Alicia, who was also shaking her head in confusion.

Clearly, this wasn't a situation where they could leisurely take a walk.

Soon, the two composed themselves and hurried to the control room, where chaos had erupted.

"What's going on?"

Duanmu Huai grabbed a staff member and asked, while the latter looked ashen.

"We've been attacked!"

"Attack? By a Lawmaker?"

"No, it seems to be humans... The energy supply system has been destroyed! The backup system can't provide energy..."

By this time, others had also arrived in the control room. Upon hearing the staff's report, everyone turned pale. They had chosen a location that simultaneously covered the energy system and control center when installing the Reality Stabilizing Anchor to prevent the energy system from being targeted by a Lawmaker. Thus, no matter how powerful a Lawkeeper was, it should have been impossible to use their power to destroy the energy system.
