My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 105: Conversation Between Father and Son

Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi were upstairs packing clothes. The babies were rolling around on the bed, with Lin Jie looking after them. Fatty was there too. Because of the babies, Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi had temporarily moved into the master bedroom.

"You have no idea. When I got home earlier, I thought we'd been robbed," Lin Jie said. "And Dad's expression was priceless..."

Listening to his story, the couple couldn't help but laugh.

The babies, exhausted from playing, soon drifted off to sleep on the bed. The eldest, however, was still wide awake, chasing a toy in Lin Jie's hand.

Lin Feng picked up his firstborn. "It's time for bed."

Lin Jie stood up. "Bro, I'm going to sleep too."

"Go ahead."

Lin Jie hesitated at the door for a moment before mustering up his courage. "Bro, thank you for everything you've done for this family."

With that, he ran out of the room.

Lin Feng smiled. "That kid..."

Just then, Lin Dashan's voice called from downstairs. "Lin Feng, come down for a minute."

Zhang Yuxi guessed the father and son had something to talk about, so she took the eldest from Lin Feng's arms. "Go on. I'll take care of the babies."

In the living room, Lin Dashan sat on the sofa, waving him over. "Let's have a drink, just the two of us."

On the table were peanuts, sunflower seeds, and beer. Zhou Cuilan brought over a plate of sliced cured meats.

"You two talk. I'll go check on my little grandsons."

Lin Dashan cracked open a beer. "Come on, let's have a toast."

It had been a long time since Lin Feng had drunk beer, and the first sip tasted surprisingly bitter.

Lin Dashan smacked his lips, took a bite of the cured meat, and then slowly asked, "How much did you spend?"

"Just under two million."

Lin Dashan raised an eyebrow. "It was more than that, wasn't it?"

When Lin Feng remained silent, Lin Dashan couldn't help but sigh with emotion. "Returning to this house... it feels like I've gone back to those days, back when I was at the top of my game. Unfortunately, after that failed investment, I lost the house, the car, everything..."

His voice choked up as he spoke. "All those so-called brothers stayed away from me, terrified I would ask to borrow money! I went to your second and third uncles for help, but they just mocked me at the dinner table, saying I had it coming. I'll remember their words for the rest of my life..."

Lin Dashan wiped the tears from the corner of his eyes, a lump forming in his throat. Taking a long swig of beer, he looked at Lin Feng with pride. "You've grown up now and you have money, but don't ever get arrogant or look down on people. There are plenty of rich people in this world, and many of them are far more low-key than you. Don't let a little money go to your head. Stay grounded."

Lin Feng nodded. "I know, Dad."

Lin Dashan pointed at his own chest, his eyes red. "You remember what I went through, don't you? Let me be your cautionary tale. Don't make my mistakes or walk the same path I did."

Lin Feng nodded again, saying nothing.

Lin Dashan lit a cigarette and said slowly, "The day after tomorrow, your third uncle has booked a hotel. The whole family is getting together for a reunion dinner. If anyone at the table asks you for money or tries to kiss up to you, just ignore them. When you were down on your luck, they ran faster than anyone... You can't rely on these relatives.

"To be honest, among your generation, I don't think much of anyone except for Yu Zheng. Take your third uncle's son, Lin Jiajun. His personality has improved a bit since he got married, but he's still a good-for-nothing freeloader..."

That night, fueled by alcohol, Lin Dashan told Lin Feng many things. He repeatedly cautioned him not to be too proud or take himself too seriously, and that he needed to build a good life with Zhang Yuxi.

When Zhou Cuilan came downstairs, she saw Lin Dashan's drunken, bleary eyes and felt both pained and helpless. She smiled at Lin Feng. "Go on to bed. I'll take care of your father."

"Alright, I'll go to bed then, Mom."

"Go on."

When he returned to their room, Zhang Yuxi was still awake, apparently waiting for him.

"Why are you still up?"

"I was just talking with Mom. She was telling me all about the past: how the Lin family built its fortune, how the investments failed, and how they paid off all their debts..."

Zhang Yuxi leaned in close. "Lin Feng... if you ever lose everything, the children and I will still be here to support you."

Lin Feng understood what she meant.

「The next day.」

Lin Feng got the babies ready, then held their fourth child for Zhang Yuxi to nurse. Drowsy, she hugged her son as she fed him.

After the fourth child had his fill, he blinked his big eyes at Lin Feng. To avoid waking Zhang Yuxi, Lin Feng gently picked him up and kissed his cheek. "Come on, let's go to the living room with Daddy."

Zhou Cuilan had already tidied up the living room. She had done a deep clean that morning and was now collapsed on the sofa, exhausted. "Yu Zheng originally said he wouldn't come back for the New Year, but he decided to return at the last minute. I told them to stay at the old house to save money instead of wasting it on a hotel."

Hearing this, Lin Feng took out his phone to call Yu Zheng. "Yu Zheng, are you driving back or taking the bus?"

"We're driving. We should arrive around five this afternoon."

"Alright. There's a family dinner tomorrow night. We'll go together."

"Okay."

After breakfast, when Zhang Yuxi heard about the dinner party, she had a sudden idea. "Honey, can you watch the babies this afternoon? I'm going to buy Mom a new outfit."

Lin Feng looked up. "Why don't we all go together and get Dad something nice as well?"

"Sounds good."

Zhou Cuilan's eyes crinkled with delight, but she feigned protest, saying, "What for? Your father and I have plenty of clothes. Don't waste your money."

Zhang Yuxi linked her arm through Zhou Cuilan's and said coaxingly, "Mom, how is this wasting money? It's a gift from the heart from me and Lin Feng. Just think of it as keeping us company while we shop, alright?"

Zhou Cuilan couldn't resist and said cheerily, "Alright, alright, we'll go after lunch." Then, her heart filled with joy, she hurried upstairs to get Lin Dashan.

Coincidentally, Lin Jie had just finished his tutoring for the day; his holiday break would start tomorrow. The whole family went shopping together.

Lin Dashan drove them in the Mercedes 315 RV.

When Zhou Cuilan and the others got into the RV, they looked all around, taking in every detail. Lin Jie took out his phone, snapped a picture, and posted it to his social media with the caption: *My brother's new ride.*

In less than a minute, dozens of likes and comments poured in.

"Wow, Lin Jie, your family's loaded! That RV must have cost a fortune, right?"

"I wish I had a ride like that!"

"Hey Jie, I heard you moved back into the villa. Is that true?"

"When can we come over to your place?"

A wide grin spread across Lin Jie's face as he read the comments.

Zhou Cuilan joked to Lin Dashan, "What do you say? When we're old, we should get an RV like this and go traveling."

Lin Dashan was tempted. "Sounds good. Let me work a few more years. Once Jie finishes university, I'll take you on a tour around the country."
