My College Teacher is My Children's Mom

Chapter 170: The Lesson of the Four Treasures

「The next day.」

The four of them arranged to meet at the high-speed train station. It was the first time they had ever traveled far on their own. Even though they were grown adults, in their parents' eyes, they would always be immature children, a constant source of worry. They had been told that losing their belongings was fine as long as they themselves were safe. Other possessions weren't important; taking good care of their phones was what mattered most.

The four boarded the high-speed train, having bought seats together in two rows.

By chance, a pretty young woman, noticing how handsome Lin Jie was, asked for his contact information.

Lin Jie refused, and the other boys looked on with an exasperated mix of envy and disappointment, wishing that luck had fallen to them instead.

Two hours passed quickly.

Remembering his father's admonition, Chen Miaomiao said, "Wait a second, I'm going to the supermarket to buy a few things."

Chen Miaomiao was Chen Jianguo's treasured son. Even though he was the eldest among his friends, to his parents, he was the youngest and the one who needed the most protection. Only after spending time with him did the others realize how innocent he truly was.

Meng Liang asked, "What are you buying?"

"Fruit, cigarettes, and maybe a case of milk." He paused before adding, "It's a bit embarrassing to show up empty-handed, right?"

The other three were taken aback.

Wait, that's a thing we're supposed to do?

Lin Jie quickly chimed in, "My brother doesn't care about stuff like that."

Chen Miaomiao shook his head. "It's not a question of whether he cares, but a matter of us doing the right thing."

After a quick discussion, they bought two cases of milk and a large amount of fruit. They decided against alcohol and tobacco since Lin Feng didn't smoke or drink.

Carrying their purchases, they finally felt like they were properly visiting relatives.

Zhang Yuxi's high-end BMW Mini was eye-catching, but not as much as her stunning face and cool, aloof temperament. Standing there at the exit, she was a magnificent sight, boasting a head-turning rate of two hundred percent.

She scanned the crowd but didn't see them, so she gave Lin Jie a call.

"Sister-in-law, we're coming out right now."

A moment later, four young men emerged, each carrying something.

Zhang Yuxi paused, a little surprised. "Did you bring all this from home?"

Lin Jie shook his head. "No, they said they felt bad coming empty-handed, so we brought some fruit and things."

Zhang Yuxi laughed. "There's no need to be so formal. Come on, my car is parked over there."

In Zhang Yuxi's presence, they instinctively felt they shouldn't act too casually. This was partly because her cool beauty made her seem unapproachable, like someone on a pedestal, and partly because she was a university professor.

"Sister-in-law, your car is beautiful!" Lin Jie exclaimed.

"Your brother bought it for my birthday last year," Zhang Yuxi said with a hint of pride.

They all got into the car, and after a drive of about half an hour, they arrived at Cuihu Villa. Zhang Yuxi drove the car down to the B2 level of the parking garage. From there, they took a private elevator directly up to the living room.

Yang Zheng said in amazement, "I've seen videos on TikTok about homes with private elevators, but I can't believe it's actually true!"

As they stepped into the residence, a vast living room opened up to their right, while the dining area was to the left. The living room had been transformed into a playground for the babies, with Big White sitting nearby like a watchful supervisor. Feifei was dozing on the sofa.

The aroma of delicious food drifted from the kitchen, instantly making them feel hungry.

"Make yourselves at home," Zhang Yuxi told them. "Don't be formal."

She then headed to the kitchen. "Honey, they're here."

Lin Feng, who was stewing pork ribs, just hummed in acknowledgment.

When Zhang Yuxi came back downstairs after changing, she found Meng Liang and the others playing with the babies.

"Honey, let me help you."

"Where are the boys?"

"They're playing with the babies."

Chen Miaomiao approached with his phone, looking embarrassed. "Bro, my dad wants to video call you."

Lin Feng wiped his hands and took the phone. "Hello, Uncle."

Chen Jianguo's cheerful voice came through. "Sorry to be a bother."

"It's no trouble at all," Lin Feng said with a smile. "He's a great kid, not a bother in the least."

"Good, good. Well, I won't keep you from what you're doing."

"Okay. Goodbye, Uncle."

After ending the call, Lin Feng handed the phone back to an embarrassed-looking Chen Miaomiao.

"Your dad is just concerned about you," Lin Feng said with understanding. "Go wash your hands and tell the others it's time to eat."

"Okay."

Lin Feng had prepared the very dishes they had ordered when he had visited them in Mei City. The four friends took their seats at the table. On the other side sat the four babies in their high chairs.

Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi took turns feeding them, but the children were expected to eat the last third of their meals themselves. At this point, they could successfully feed themselves about eight times out of ten, which was excellent progress. They were confident that by the end of the summer, the babies would be able to eat entirely on their own.

Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi sat down with their guests.

"So, where do you guys want to go for fun?"

"Bro, don't worry about us," Lin Jie quickly replied. "We'll just walk around and explore."

The weather was perfect right now, not too hot. However, since it was the peak of summer vacation, they didn't want to deal with the crowds. They just wanted a change of scenery while they waited for their exam results.

Zhang Yuxi smiled. "Your brother already said that if you do well on your exams, he'll get you whatever you want."

Lin Jie flushed slightly. "Based on my estimated score, I can get into Jingcheng Affiliated University, but Peking University would be a stretch."

"In that case, we can all go to Jingcheng together in August," Lin Feng said. "Your sister-in-law is going to Peking University for a month-long study program."

As they chatted at the table, Fourth Baby's eyes sparkled as he stared intently at the adults' food. Wanting a taste so badly, he started to stand up in his chair.

Lin Feng sighed. I knew this would happen. He told Fourth Baby that he couldn't have these things. But when it came to food, did Fourth Baby even know the meaning of the word "compromise"?

Second Baby, ever the troublemaker, joined the commotion. First Baby waited for an opportunity. Third Baby, meanwhile, just kept eating his own food.

"My uncle has a kid who was just like Fourth Baby," Yang Zheng said. "Always wanting to eat the adults' food. In the end, my uncle got so frustrated that he let him have a bite. The spiciness shocked him so much he never asked for it again."

Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi exchanged a look. That's actually a good idea.

"You could give it a try!" Yang Zheng suggested.

Instead of constantly trying to stop him, it might be better to let him learn the hard way.

"Yuxi, could you pour some yogurt?"

Yogurt could relieve the spiciness, so it was best to have it ready. Once Zhang Yuxi had the yogurt prepared, Lin Feng lifted Fourth Baby out of his high chair.

Freed from his restraints, Fourth Baby was ecstatic.

Lin Feng made one last attempt. "Fourth Baby, you can't eat this. It's spicy!" He even made an exaggerated face to convey the meaning of "spicy."

But how could Fourth Baby possibly listen? He was completely captivated by the fragrant, brightly colored feast before him.

"Fourth Baby, you really can't eat this!"

The baby struggled mightily in Lin Feng's arms, and it took a great deal of effort to hold him back.

"Alright, Fourth Baby. It seems it's time for you to get a taste of the cruel realities of the adult world."

Lin Feng dipped the tip of his chopstick in a bit of sauce and offered it to the baby. Fourth Baby leaned forward and licked it. His expression slowly contorted into one of pure anguish.

"WAAAAH! AHHH! WAAAH!"

He cried his heart out, utterly grief-stricken.

Lin Feng didn't immediately give him the yogurt, otherwise he wouldn't learn his lesson. "See, Fourth Baby? The Fan Fan that we adults eat isn't for babies like you."

Fourth Baby stuck his tongue out, tears streaming down his face from the spicy shock.

Beside him, Second Baby watched, dumbfounded. First Baby was stunned, and Third Baby was completely bewildered. But it seemed a message had been received.

Second Baby quietly retracted his own restless little hand.

Seeing the time was right, Lin Feng had Zhang Yuxi feed Fourth Baby the yogurt. After drinking it, his crying gradually subsided, leaving him looking pitiful. Lin Feng placed him back in his high chair, curious to see what he would do next.

Teardrops clung to Fourth Baby's long eyelashes. Ultimately, he didn't make another move.

Lin Feng encouraged him to eat the food in his own bowl.

Fourth Baby looked utterly dejected.

For the rest of the meal, not a single smile appeared on his face.

Lin Feng tried his best to make him understand, explaining at length. "Fourth Baby, it's not that Daddy won't let you have it. It's just that our adult food has strong flavors that aren't suitable for you. When you're big enough, Daddy will make you anything you want to eat, okay? Just wait a few more years. See? Daddy makes you all sorts of different Fan Fan every day, and snacks too. Isn't that enough?"

Whether Fourth Baby understood or not, Lin Feng had done his best.

To make it up to him, Lin Feng later made some thin scallion pancakes.

A true foodie, the sight of fresh treats made the baby forget all his sorrow.

He just didn't know if the lesson he'd just been taught had also been forgotten…
