Felix's eyes fluttered open after what felt like forever. Raising his arched neck, the first thing his eyes met were the terror-stricken, wide eyes of a corpse lying on its back before the throne: Nemesis.
He couldn't remember much that had happened nearing the end of the fight, but he knew one thing: he had won, and nothing else mattered.
He could feel the clarity of his mind now after a deep sleep, and felt thoroughly revitalized. He wide-spread his arms in an intoxicating stretch that drew soft groans from his lips. But from the peripheral of his vision, Felix saw something he didn't quite understand—his mind still foggy from a good sleep.
"What…?" He mumbled in confusion as he focused his vision on a tab with texts flashing by at the speed of light.
"W—what?!" Felix yelled, realizing it was the comments section of his live stream—still running. It now boasted a total of 110 Billion active viewers.
Why the heck were they watching him sleep?!
Felix quickly navigated his system and ended the live stream in one swift motion. The absurd number of viewers who had stayed behind after the battle to watch him sleep for who knows how long proved the sheer number of creeps in the universe. The thought gave him the chills, and Felix involuntarily shuddered in disgust.
Where was Lilith, who had started the live stream in the first place?
Just as Felix was thinking that, a figure emerged from behind the massive doors and began walking toward him.
Speak of the devil.
"Lilith, you'd better have a good reason for leaving me on live while I was asleep…" Felix subconsciously trailed off as Lilith stepped into the dim light streaming in from the clandestine windows, and he took a second glance at her.
Her black garment was ripped in some places, and her fair skin was bruised red and covered in dirt. Most of all, her face: it held the chilliest, most indifferent expression he'd ever seen on her. It made Felix wonder if she'd been in a fight and just what had happened while he was unconscious.
But before he could say anything, she stopped just before the steps leading up to the throne and sent a patched, folded scroll rolling to his feet, staring dead into his eyes.
Felix was confused and uncomfortable with her behavior. He bent to pick up the scroll and unfolded it, his breath hitching at what he saw the next moment.
It was a perfect portrait of him—Felix—down to the slightest and most insignificant facial feature, from the crown of his head down to his shoulders. From the slightly exposed clothes on his body—his black hoodie—it was obvious the portrait had been sketched just a few minutes or hours ago, while he was asleep.
Above the portrait was a one-word letter heading written in a strange language Felix knew not of, but whose meaning he could roughly tell. And below the portrait of himself was the code name —Witcher—, followed by the dreaded line of text:
DEAD OR ALIVE
#800, 000, 000
"W—what is this?" Felix stammered, a lump forming in his throat.
"That scroll is already being circulated across worlds. A lot of bounty hunters will be coming after you. Your aggro with dark creatures has been multiplied. All Champions of the dark faction will be on the lookout for you. What do you have to say to that?" Lilith stated plainly.
Felix fell silent as he absorbed everything Lilith said. What did he have to say about it?
"What did I do?" Felix asked in perplexity, spreading his arms dramatically. What's my crime? Was I wrong for killing Nemesis? Was she the daughter or the mistress of the Dark Lord or something?
Lilith let out a huff of derision. "You look more confused than afraid." She said with a tilt of her head.
Felix was amused at this. Afraid? Afraid that a bounty had been placed on his head, bringing all the powerful players his way? Afraid that it shouldn't be hard to find dark creatures now and that they'll attack on sight? Afraid that he was the number one enemy of the Dark Faction after Lilith? Isn't that how it should be for every Sage, especially him, whose class system has set him on the path and mission to destroy the Lord of Darkness? He expected this day would come sooner or later—though this was much sooner than he'd anticipated. But it made no difference.
"Why? Let them come." Felix said coldly.
If the others hadn't learned a lesson from the death of Nemesis, then they were free to come. The battle experience and the attribute points would be very much appreciated for his character growth.
Speaking of which, how much had he even gained from Nemesis's death?
Lilith smirked coldly. "Very well, then. You should head back now. But I'd advise you to wrap up everything you have to do on Earth; we'll be leaving soon. Your location has been exposed, and you're still too weak to face what is coming your way." She said.
Felix sighed heavily as he leaned back on the throne seat. "How long have I been out?"
"Four days and three nights." Lilith replied.
"What?" Felix jumped in surprise. "F—four days?" He asked again, gesturing with four fingers.
"…Your battle with that one had lasted three days and three nights, and yes, you've been out for four days and three nights. Seven days total." Lilith clarified.
"W—what? The quest. Mom. Kyle. Ben!" Felix shot up from the throne seat and sped past Lilith toward the behemoth doors, then screeched to a halt, remembering something.
The crown was still on his head.
"Ah, here!" He called out to Lilith as he took the crown off his head and was just about to toss it at her.
"N—no, don't! Y—you can keep it." Lilith stammered sharply with wide eyes that forced Felix to pause and stare at her.
This was the first time he had ever seen her flustered, and was surprised she could do that. He wanted to stick around more to find out the reason for her extreme reaction, but he didn't have the luxury—after all, she wasn't going anywhere, and he could always come back later to try throwing the crown at her again.
Felix smiled at this and nodded at her before letting the crown rest on his head once more as he ran out.
Lilith exhaled heavily as she looked from the empty spot where Felix had just been standing, to the carcass of Nemesis, and finally to the throne seat. And she didn't know when she smiled.
