Jin Xunu was originally a merfolk who had transformed into a spirit. He had once startled Tie San, the Iron Umbrella Taoist, while he was fishing for a nine-headed divine turtle in the South Sea. In a fit of anger, Tie San sealed Jin Xunu inside a jar and sank it to the ocean floor.
Afterward, the nine-headed divine turtle became wary, and despite using all his tricks, Tie San could never catch it again. He then sought revenge against Jin Xunu.
At the bottom of the sea, Jin Xunu was saved by the Great Palace Master, Chu Feng, who brought him to the palace. Together, they unlocked the Heavenly Books and Secret Manuals within the golden court and jade pillars for joint cultivation. Later, Jin Xunu harmonized the Kan and Li, passed the ultimate trial with the refinement of True Water, shed his half-human, half-demon, ghastly merfolk skin, and transformed into the incredibly handsome youth of today.
Later on, atop Song Mountain, they encountered the Iron Umbrella Taoist again. Had it not been for the intervention of the two elders of Song Mountain, they would have been utterly defeated, cooked in a pot by Tie San.
Years passed, and the disciples of Tie San, in cahoots with others, set fire outside Purple Cloud Palace and boiled the sea. Amid a fierce duel, although the Palace emerged victorious, it was a hard-fought win, destroying several Flying Swords left by Master Jinmu and Magical Treasures obtained from Moon Island.
Now, upon seeing the iron umbrella of their old nemesis, they reacted like startled birds, taking out all of their most powerful methods for use.
Sanfeng stirred his Dantian, spouted out True Yuan, and with both hands forming seals, he drove his Flying Sword and Xuan Guang Ruler, as well as all the demon sand, launching them towards Yuan Hua who held the Iron Umbrella.
Yuan Hua spurred the Iron Umbrella into action, black light surged on it, blocking all of these attacks.
Seeing this, Jin Xunu hurriedly swung his Taiyin Qingning Fan with all his might!
This treasured fan, hailing from the treasure vault of Moon Island of Lianshan, ranked second among the four treasures that once subdued the mountain. As soon as he fanned it, up rose a great surge of red light that he pushed forward in a sweeping motion.
This treasure was crafted by Master Lianshan, who painstakingly searched for the energies of all three realms and forged it with the power of the Taiyin Mysterious Skill. Named Qingning for the essence of heaven's and earth's tranquility, the fan could raise winds that once stirred, would disrupt the calmness of the cosmos. Master Lianshan hid the wind within the light; when released, one could only see the light and not the wind, but once the opponent came into contact with the red light, the wind would rise.
The red light connected heaven and earth as it advanced towards Yuan Hua, who, feeling alarmed, urgently followed Shi Feiyang's instructions to spur the Magical Treasure such that the Circulation Talismans on the umbrella began to shine and rotate swiftly, releasing a vast amount of Golden Radiance to meet the incoming red light.
The red light shattered, and a fierce wind arose. Astoundingly, this wind blew only within the range of the red light; elsewhere, not even a wisp could be felt. Yet Yuan Hua, the main target, experienced the terrifying force of the wind. A broad range of red light quickly gathered toward the Iron Umbrella, transforming the area into a vortex of wind as if a hole had opened above the Nine Heavens, blasting forth all the Gang Wind in the world.
Yuan Hua, being bodiless and formed by his Primordial Spirit, although refined to a degree that was almost indistinguishable from an ordinary person, was nonetheless most vulnerable to such a Demon Refining Treasure. If it had been earlier times, encountering this divine wind capable of easily dispersing his Primordial Spirit would have made him turn tail and run, using every ounce of strength he had, fleeing as far as possible.
Fortunately, after following Shi Feiyang, he received guidance in cultivating the "Inner View Primordial Sect" and entered the proper path of the Mysterious Sect. At this moment, he exerted all his effort, driving the Circulation Treasure Umbrella to contend against it.
The Iron Umbrella spun round, Golden Radiance sprayed forth, barely holding against the furious wind. Jin Xunu saw this and felt even more astonished inside. In the past, with a simple wave of this treasured fan, he made the Iron Umbrella Taoist flee so fast that in the blink of an eye, not even his shadow could be seen. But now, the fan's power could be withstood. In panic, he fanned several more times.
The roaring wind propelled Yuan Hua, who held the Magical Treasure Umbrella, backwards in flight. Although not at a rapid pace, with each flap, it pushed him thousands of zhang away, and even Lu Rongbo behind him was carried further back.
Lu Rongbo was nearly scared out of her wits, realizing the ferocity of the wind, which could disperse and refine even a Heavenly Demon. If she were hit directly, serious injury was inevitable, but thankfully, Yuan Hua shielded her with the Magical Treasure Umbrella. When the tail of the wind swept over her, the Protective Spirit Light twisted and shook precariously yet held together without dissipating.
At this moment, Deng Bagu and Xiong Man rose into the air, joining Lin Han to surround Jin Xunu and Sanfeng, ready to strike together.
Sanfeng was even more distressed; he retracted the Huang Yun Demon Fire, along with the Flying Sword and Xuan Guang Ruler, and directed his attacks at the three assailants while releasing the Demon Thunder. The three launched their Flying Swords, clashing intensely with one another.
Demon Thunder sounded, dull and not particularly loud, yet it could directly shake a person's heart. Each clap made the earth tremble, rocks sway, causing one's heart to feel as if it were about to burst!
Xiong Man and Lin Han, with their shallow Dao Level, each possessed only a single Flying Sword. Facing Demon Fire and Demon Thunder, they couldn't defend themselves and could only combine body and sword, temporarily retreating. But the Demon Thunder, locked onto their aura like maggots attached to bones, relentlessly pursued their sword light. Once caught, a loud "snap" would burst forth, scattering the sword light, tossing their Divine Souls into turmoil, unable to control the Flying Sword as they plummeted downward. Fortunately, their foundations were deep, allowing them to quickly regain consciousness, recast their spells, and summon the Flying Sword, avoiding falling to their deaths.
Shi Feiyang stood below, watching without intervening. He intended to help Lu Rongbo achieve Ascension, but Sanfeng and Jin Xunu weren't enemies either. He planned to obtain True Water from them and deemed this a good opportunity to test the mettle of these new disciples, to refine their abilities to respond to enemies in combat.
Lin Han, with the weakest Mana, struggled to evade the Demon Thunder with his Sword Control, descending lower and lower. Having his sword light dissipated twice, his Primordial Qi was injured. The luster of the White Light Sword dimmed, barely manageable for control, with Demon Thunder still in hot pursuit behind. He thus had to descend into the mountain woods, weaving through the dense forest and around the peak rocks.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!" Demon Thunder struck the mountain, breaking rocks apart and echoing throughout the hills.
Meanwhile, the son of Lu Rongbo, Shi Sheng, had remained within the cliffside cave, strictly adhering to his mother's final instructions: not to emerge until the waterfall to the east ran dry or until a young brother named Golden Cicada appeared.
He had paid no heed to the previous battles in the clouds, too distraught with grief from his mother's departure. It wasn't until the deafening thunder shook the mountain that he ceased weeping. Peeking out quietly, he saw many engaged in a chaotic duel. It didn't alarm him at first, but then he saw a girl in the midst of a rainbow's glow in the clouds, teetering in the violent winds—his own mother. Anguish and rage intermingled, he disregarded his mother's command and flew out.
Lu Rongbo, fearing her son would wander and fall in with rogues after her departure, being led astray by an Evil Demon, had sealed a child-size set of clothes made from her own garments within the stone wall, to appear only when the time was right. Shi Sheng, though obediently staying in the cave, flew out impulsively upon witnessing his mother's peril. A child not even three feet tall, naked, he commandeered the Taibai Split Light Sword gifted to Lu Min by the Jile Perfected One, transforming into a streak of silver light, trailing a tail of sparkles like a comet shooting upwards.
Upon seeing Jin Xunu attacking his mother, Shi Sheng commanded his sword toward him.
Jin Xunu, powerless before the Tie San, would tremble at the mere mention of "Iron Umbrella," dizzy with fear. Panicked, he waved the fan, desperately trying to blow Yuan Hua, who wielded the Iron Umbrella, away. More terrifying was the thought of the real Iron Umbrella not yet appearing; he imagined over nine hundred sixty horrific scenarios of a sudden assault, turning ashen with fear, breaking into cold sweats, hands shaking. He constantly checked for the Iron Umbrella, especially behind him, turning around after every couple of flaps of the fan.
When a streak of silver lightning shot up from below, he reflexively smashed down three treasures: the Boluodao, the Sun-locking Hook, and a certain malevolent mace.
As a thousand-year-old Merfolk with supreme Effort, already the pinnacle of Purple Cloud Palace, he struck with full force in his terror. Poor Shi Sheng stood no chance; his sword light instantly dimmed and crumbled. Attempting to evade the strike, he still suffered a gash from the Boluodao on his arm and began to fall from the sky, while the Boluodao, Sun-locking Hook, and the mace, all artifacts of diverse powers, followed his blood in pursuit, intent on grinding Shi Sheng to pieces!
Shi Feiyang wouldn't stand by and let Shi Sheng be killed. He sent two little apes flying to catch Shi Sheng and ensure his safe landing, while he himself flew up, effortlessly grabbing the knife, hook, and mace in his hand.
Watching the scene unfold, Jin Xunu felt his heart split with fear and shouted at Sanfeng, "The Iron Umbrella has arrived! We must run!"
With that, he raised the Taiyin Qingning Fan and fanned downwards, covering the ground with a tens-of-thousands-foot red light. The power of this treasure, under his frenzied fanning, would demolish mountains, rocks, and vegetation within a hundred miles, causing all the creatures within to perish!
Shi Feiyang could not confront this Treasure bare-handed. He drew the Nine Heavens Yuan Yang Ruler, emitting a ten-thousand-foot expanse of purple mist rising to meet the red light. As red met purple in the sky, they churned into one, exploding into a violent whirlwind that darkened the sky, obscuring sun and moon alike.
In extreme fear, Jin Xunu waved the fan fiercely, while Shi Feiyang summoned three Golden Flowers around him with the Jade Ruler. These Golden Flowers, whirling about, could not be budged by Jin Xunu's fanning. Overtaken by fear and desperate to escape, he saw purple mist surge in front of him, revealing a youth clad in green who snatched the treasured fan from his grasp.
With the Taiyin Qingning Fan taken, his greatest reliance was gone. Up close, the thought of fleeing escaped him. Kneeling rapidly, he prostrated, pleading, "Please, Master, pity my thousand years of hard cultivation... I... I..."
Such pleas he had uttered countless times before. The Iron Umbrella, heartless and cruel, was indifferent to any of them. Although he knew not who the green-clad youth was, that he could take his fan bare-handed showed unimaginable power. Surely he must be a disciple of Iron Umbrella, equally ruthless...
Shi Feiyang looked on at the trembling Jin Xunu with a bit of amusement. "Is this really necessary? With a thousand years of Dao and a trove of Treasures, you need not fear a fight. Why succumb to such a state?"
