Purple Cloud Palace, deeply hidden within the Giant Eye of the South Sea, was surrounded by an underwater mountain range with intricate terrain, hosting numerous marine plants and teeming with a variety of fish and shellfish.
This Immortal Palace was built by the Golden Mother of the Heavenly Ones. The Heavenly One generates water, and in the Five Elements, metal gives birth to water, hence she was known as the Water Mother. Her proficiency in refining True Water earned her the title Heavenly Water Mother. In the Shushan World, there was another mighty figure known as Water Mother, named Ji Xuan, who was the master of Yan Yingmu before she attained enlightenment. Ji Xuan had her Water Mother Palace at the bottom of the North Sea, where she secluded herself for secluded cultivation, appearing rarely.
After the Golden Mother, a master known as Earth Mother, a side-path Independent Immortal, entered. The Earth Mother, having been aided by Master Changmei through her Demon Tribulation before her ascension, gifted the Purple Cloud Palace to Master Changmei. Master Changmei found no use for it and so sealed it, preserving it for future disciples.
Years passed, and a thousand-year-old clam spirit, to escape a Turtle Demon, stumbled into the palace. In her next life, she acquired a human form and was called Hui Zhu. She brought the daughter of the person who once saved her life into the palace to cultivate together, known as Chu Feng, Second Feng, and Sanfeng.
The three Feng sisters, originally maids in the palace of the Golden Mother, returned to their old place after a thousand years, benefiting from the secret manuals, Flying Swords, and Magical Treasures left by the Golden Mother.
The Golden Mother left behind two Daoist Scriptures, one "Purple Palace Secret Manual," which could allow one to cultivate into a Heavenly Immortal and ascend to the Purple Palace, and the other "Earth Que Golden Chapter," which could only cultivate to Earth Immortal. Due to the maids' shallow fate, when the treasury was opened, the "Purple Palace Secret Manual" transformed into a rainbow and flew away first, and the "Earth Que Golden Chapter" was only partially shown to them—everyone saw different amounts, and private teaching was strictly forbidden. Only Chu Feng was able to read it completely.
They also obtained a "Heavenly Demon Secret Manual" from the treasury on Moon Island. Master Lianshan, the granduncle of Master Changmei and one of the three elders of the Emei Sect, had a great ambition to carve a path of enlightenment for those of the side paths. Therefore, outside the orthodox Mysterious Sect, he established the Lianshan Sect. He collected and studied many side and even Demon Path cultivation techniques, with just the cultivation catalog filling a book.
This "Heavenly Demon Secret Manual" contained many magics and annotations written by him, also known as the "Secret Demon Three Ginseng."
However, the latter was merely magic. Although powerful, everyone knew it had many latent dangers. Everyone in the palace, including Chu Feng, longed for a true master to provide guidance and teaching. Once on Song Mountain, they admired the two elders of Song Mountain, so they collectively approached and knelt to ask for acceptance, but Bai Guyi jokingly said they were a bunch of sea monsters and he could not possibly accept them.
As Chu Feng's Dao Level grew and her perspectives became grander, she no longer encountered cultivators of the caliber of the two Song Mountain elders and gradually extinguished the idea of seeking a master. This time, she sent people to Central Earth to find disciples, wanting to construct a grand path from the surface to the Palace gate, made of Divine Sand, to openly welcome guests, no longer keeping a low profile.
Previously, Hui Zhu, Second Feng, and others had brought back disciples with excellent root bone qualifications. Jin Xunu and Sanfeng did not find any, but they told her to invite a highly accomplished Daoist, endowed with vast Divine Skills and boundless mana... It might be the chance for everyone in the palace to achieve Dao, or to counteract the quinary centennial Tribulation.
Hearing the consistent agreement between the two, who usually disagreed, Chu Feng believed them almost completely, opened the great gates and personally stepped out to welcome the guest.
Shi Feiyang this time came to Purple Cloud Palace to retrieve a few items. Indeed, with his strength, he could have single-handedly entered the palace and annihilated everyone, thus claiming both the palace and its treasures for himself, but there was no necessity for that.
He planned to go to the Small Antarctic Bright Realm firstly to establish the Demon Kingdom, to achieve Perfection and prove the Three Emperors Dao, and secondly to survive the last impending Tribulation of transformation. Although Purple Cloud Palace was hidden, his enemies seeking revenge could calculate its location; the external Prohibitions were not enough to keep them out, unlike the Bright Realm located atop Outer Heaven Divine Mountain, surrounded by Aurora Fire with a lengthy distance.
He predicted that if he underwent his Tribulation in Purple Cloud Palace, Zhuge Jingwo might come seeking revenge under the guidance of Master Xuanzhen after his rebirth. Additionally, Brooyinca and the great Dharma King Hagenib might come to join, along with others eyeing Guang Chengzi and the Nine Heavens Yuan Yang Ruler...
But if he underwent his Tribulation in Outer Heaven Divine Mountain, due to the Aurora Fire, these people would not come, some lacking the necessary Magical Treasures to pass through the Aurora Fire, and some realizing the futility, e.g., Zhuge Jingwo. Alone, unable to avenge himself against the Black Dragon of his past, he might simply not come.
Conversely, as Purple Cloud Palace was built by the Golden Mother and was intended to be left for his past disciples—Lin Han of the Emei Sect, Qi Lingyun who had just reincarnated as Zhuge Ziling, and the yet unborn Zhou Qingyun—occupying here was of little value to Shi Feiyang, fraught with tangled causes and effects, more trouble than it was worth.
Thus, he merely came to take what he needed. The future conflict over Purple Cloud Palace by the Emei Sect would spark when they tried to use the True Water to retrieve the Nanming Leaving Fire Sword from the box—and this trigger had already been dismantled by Shi Feiyang, as well as the spark where Sanfeng obstructed Lu Rongbo's ascension, forcibly capturing her back into servitude, also dismantled by Shi Feiyang. Unseen, he already accumulated much merit with the Palace without the Palace Masters' knowledge; even though they didn't know, the invisible threads of karma delicately interwoven naturally operated, as everything has its own destiny.
Bringing his disciples with him, Shi Feiyang visited the palace, and Chu Feng, leading her group, came out to welcome them. At first glance, they indeed appeared as mystic beings of notable Daoist bearing, deep and immeasurable, reducing her previous doubts substantially. In the manner of a junior, she invited Shi Feiyang and his group inside, and commanded the servants to prepare a grand feast to honor their distinguished guests.
Purple Cloud Palace could be said to be the most luxurious and resplendent Immortal Mansion in the Shushan World, with vast lands and all the roads and chambers not made up of gold or white jade were built with coral and jadeite, and the earth was often filled with five-colored fine sand, dazzling everywhere, not a speck of dust in sight.
Originally, when the Golden Mother of Tianti constructed it, it took a millennium, and after the sisters Chu Feng moved in, many more palaces and gardens, pavilions and lakes were newly built, making it even more opulent and exquisitely detailed.
Inside Purple Cloud Palace there were numerous buildings, with the main structure divided according to the Nine Palaces into nine great halls, Chu Feng specifically opened the central Yellow Crystal Palace for this occasion. This Yellow Crystal Hall, constructed mostly with yellow crystals, had two rows of huge columns that could be embraced by ten people wrapped in yellow crystal, the ground paved with yellow jade, and the railings, steps, and all decorations made of yellow jade, agate, amber, and pearls shone with large and small crystal palace lamps, casting bright and shimmering light everywhere.
Chu Feng had her people lay out a variety of exquisite delicacies and invited Shi Feiyang to sit in the seat of honor, Deng Bagu and others did not dare to sit with him, setting up a separate table, after much deference among the brothers and sisters, finally, Shi Feiyang spoke up, leading with Xiong Man, followed by Deng Bagu, then Yuan Hua, Lin Han, and Shi Sheng, the two little monkeys were considered Yuan Hua's disciples, belonging to a junior generation, but it was inconvenient to start another table, so they were allowed to sit together with two children.
At the main table, the Great Palace Master Chu Feng took the seat of honor, the reincarnated former wise pearl second, followed by Erfeng, Erfeng's husband Jin Xunu, Sanfeng, and at the end was Shao Dongxiu, their old friend from the Human World.
During the banquet, there were over twenty types of fine wine, and the dishes mostly came from the sea's produce, Shi Feiyang, as the honored guest, had over a hundred dishes laid out on the yellow jade table in front of him, he carefully inspected each one – fortunately, there was no dragon liver.
Chu Feng led the six hosts in taking turns to toast to the guests, expressing many auspicious blessings, truly full of sincerity.
In casual conversation, Chu Feng led in asking some questions about cultivation, and Shi Feiyang answered each one for her. Although he had never cultivated the Earth Que Golden Chapter, the principles were the same, some he could answer immediately, for others he needed to ask how the other party cultivated before he could offer a solution.
Chu Feng had gone the furthest in the path of Immortal Dao, asking relatively high-level questions, but her limit was that of an Earth Immortal, still a distance from her ultimate goal, Shi Feiyang could discuss Dao with Ling Hun and his wife, so answering her questions was more than sufficient.
Hui Zhu, being a reincarnated exceptional old clam, had little mana in her former life but learned some Hinayana Buddhist Laws from a nun after reincarnation, occasionally asking questions, Shi Feiyang responded with the Mahayana Buddhism he had heard from a Shaolin monk, and surprisingly, he could flow in conversation.
Jin Xunu, a transformed exceptional merfolk who cultivated Demon Path Technique in his previous life, had left many problems, which he mostly resolved in this life by cultivating according to the Earth Que Golden Chapter. Among the six, his effort and mana were the deepest and highest, but he was on a byway of side gates, earnestly yearning for the right path yet without guidance. He repeatedly left his seat to kneel and seek advice, and Shi Feiyang answered all his questions, pointing out the hidden dangers in his current cultivation, what was incorrect in the past, and how he could improve his cultivation in the future, which moved Jin Xunu to tears, and he ceaselessly kowtowed.
As he knelt at the foot of the steps, looking up at Shi Feiyang amidst the candlelight and yellow glow, he felt like a wanderer oppressed for half of his life, suddenly seeing an elder family member. Shi Feiyang's Dao level, realm, Technique Divine Power, not to mention his amiability, allowed him to live for over a thousand years, counting even his previous life's master; he had never had anyone explain the problems of his cultivation path with such patience.
Sanfeng, straightforward by nature and with the poorest root bone qualifications, had hardly any questions to ask and simply sat eating and drinking, finding it all quite entertaining.
Sanfeng, who cultivated the Heavenly Demon Secret Manual deeply, brought up some issues she encountered while practicing Demon Skills, and Shi Feiyang, treating everyone equally, provided thorough answers.
He also kindly and earnestly pointed out, "Among you three sisters, you are the most extreme in nature, overly self-centered and lacking in empathy, completely disregarding the feelings of others, making it difficult for you to achieve the external use of Demon Heart. What is the external use of Demon Heart? Just what you said earlier—the Demon Eye's distant sight, the Demon Ear's far hearing, the Demon Heart Imprint; because you cannot empathize with others, naturally, you wouldn't know what is on someone else's mind."
Sanfeng, initially impatient when he began to point out her flaws, felt a numbness crawl over her scalp when she heard the conclusion; Shi Feiyang's words directly hit the crux of why she'd failed to master the magic in a hundred years of training and pierced directly into her personal deficiencies, something she had never considered before, merely knowing hard work but regardless of effort never succeeding.
Without Shi Feiyang's guidance, she would never have known that one's personal nature could be so integral to what type of cultivation technique they practiced!
Shi Feiyang said, "Although you are selfish and often harbor malicious thoughts, there is still that shred of inherent kindness from your past life. If you can regularly introspect, reflecting upon your inner self, in the future you might achieve something. Otherwise, your Dao level and Technique Divine Power will stall here, never advancing, and when the tribulation of later days arrives, your fate will be too horrible to witness."
Hearing him speak of "later days tribulation," all six hosts were alarmed, as they had been in the palace for four hundred and fifty years, and soon five hundred years would mark their last calamity, the predicted fate of everyone except for Hui Zhu was very grim.
