Si Taixu chose to compromise with Jiang Shu, indicating his willingness to give up the Golden Whip Cliff and continue his cultivation practice elsewhere with Wu Li.
"I only ask Master Jiang to grant us some time to pack up the necessary items," Si Taixu said, his voice filled with helplessness and melancholy.
Then he turned to Shi Feiyang: "May I also ask how to address this Daoist friend? Could you be one of Master Jiang's senior predecessors from his sect?"
He realized that Shi Feiyang's mana was astoundingly high, so high that it brought him to the brink of despair. Even if he and Wu Li teamed up, they would be no match for him, clearly not just some junior without a name.
Shi Feiyang gave his own name, and Si Taixu was greatly astonished: "So you are the Master Shi who flattened Buddha Light Mountain, shattered Rotary Temple, and slaughtered Old Demon Yideng! No wonder you possess such divine powers! My apologies, my apologies! Losing to an esteemed person like you, I can hardly call it an injustice!"
Although he tended to cultivate in seclusion, the Himalayas were not too far from here, and he had heard about the big commotion that Shi Feiyang had caused before.
That female divine spider, holding her husband, wept tears, previously cursing and demanding revenge. But now, upon hearing Shi Feiyang's name, she fell silent,
Noting the teacher and disciple's knowing cooperation, Shi Feiyang said, "What is there to cry about! It's just losing legs, claws, and being pierced in the stomach, no big deal."
He asked Zhu Changyuan to use Yin Yang Creation Spirit Glue to reattach the spider's legs and claws. Zhu Changyuan had previously used Spiritual Glue, both ingested and applied externally, to treat burns on his face; now he applied Spiritual Medicine to the spider's severed parts, aligned the limbs, and with a breath of Immortal Energy, quickly rejoined them. In a moment, they could move and crawl around.
Zhu Changyuan then used some medicine internally and externally on the spider to heal the wounds on its belly.
The divine spider initially thought his wife would have to undergo another tribulation, but seeing the turn of events, he went from sorrow to joy. With Si Taixu's prompting, he came over with his spider wife to kowtow and thank Shi Feiyang for his grace.
Having healed Si Taixu's disciple's daughter-in-law, Shi Feiyang did not bother with Wu Li anymore. Those disciples were truly annoying, and after burning Zhu Changyuan with Yin Fire, Shi Feiyang retaliated using Void Evil Fire to incinerate Wu Li into a charred corpse and submerging him in the river as retribution.
Wu Li's four disciples were smacked into disarray by Shi Feiyang, each suffering a spinning divine soul and churning blood. They lay on the ground, seeing stars, feeling nauseous, and unable to stand up.
Si Taixu went over and gave each one a pat on the back of the head, infusing True Qi to heal them, then had them get up to retrieve Wu Li and together they flew to the top of Golden Whip Cliff to pack their things.
Shi Feiyang, accompanied by Jiang Shu and Zhu Changyuan, continued searching for treasures. There indeed was a treasure beneath, which required some effort to retrieve—a two-inch-long treasure resembling an ice drill, made from a material that seemed like neither gold nor wood. One side was inscribed with "Vermilion Bird," and the other with "Xuanwu," and it shone with a five-colored radiance.
This was a fire treasure refined by the ancient Suiren Clan, capable of shattering the hardest of gold and stone on contact. Now in Shi Feiyang's hands, after being re-sacrificially refined, it could exert even more miraculous effects.
"In fact, there is another treasure on Qingcheng Mountain, also an ancient rarity."
Shi Feiyang then led them around to the back side of Qingcheng Mountain.
Qingcheng Mountain had steep and sheer cliffs that resembled city walls, hence the name.
With some exertion, Shi Feiyang found a stone box on the cliff's backside, extracting a mirror from it.
"This treasure is called the Heavenly Escape Mirror; it was used by Guang Chengzi in the past for refining demons and has quite some miraculous uses," Shi Feiyang felt around with his hand, and then gave the mirror to Jiang Shu, "I have the Nine Heavens Yuan Yang Ruler, so I have little use for it. You are founding a sect, and you can't be without some mountain treasures. Take it and use the methods I've taught you to cultivate and refine it well. It will surely be powerful for refining demons and defending against enemies in the future."
Originally in Fujian, his contact with Jiang Shu was merely exploratory. Having seen Jiang Shu's secret manuals and Daoist books, and not wanting to take undue advantage, he shared many extras with Jiang Shu, especially those pertaining to the ancient Dao.
Later, finding Jiang Shu naïve and honest, and somewhat currying favor in his approach, their friendship first began with brotherly terms, and Jiang Shu even wanted to practice virtue in the mortal world with him. As Shi Feiyang helped him acquire the Broken Jade Hook,
After experiencing the shattering of Rotary Temple together, Shi Feiyang felt increasingly that Jiang Shu was a friend worth having. As Jiang Shu awakened part of his past life's memory and his attitude towards himself remained unchanged, Shi Feiyang let go of his previous concerns and wholeheartedly planned for Jiang Shu, deciding to give him the Heavenly Escape Mirror right there.
Shi Feiyang was truly baring his soul to him. If Jiang Shu were to awaken all his memories in the future and betray their brotherhood, siding with Emei Sect against him, that would be truly heartless and cold-blooded, even worse than Cang Lingzi. Not to emphasize that many would look down on him, poking at his spine, and he would find it hard to pass the Demon Tribulation during future ordeals.
In the original story, the Heavenly Escape Mirror was obtained by Zhu Mei, owing Zhu Wen, who was Golden Cicada's girlfriend, a great debt.
Now it was pre-emptively excavated by Shi Feiyang to be given to Jiang Shu.
Jiang Shu repeatedly refused: "Big brother, you've passed on the ancient Dao to me, exhausted your heart in finding the Broken Jade Hook for me, and even came to help me establish the Qingcheng Sect. You've already helped me so much, I have no way to repay you, and I really can't accept any more of brother's treasures..."
Shi Feiyang insisted on giving it to him, "Treasures are ultimately external possessions, the key is their usefulness. In my possession, it is not of great use, but in your hands, it will be extremely valuable. Since you recognize me as your brother, accept it. If you refuse again, I will leave."
Jiang Shu had no choice but to accept the treasure mirror with an ashamed face.
The two, along with Zhu Changyuan, flew up to Golden Whip Cliff, where Wu Li had already been escorted away by his disciples. Si Taixu, along with the married Dryder couple, came to make the final handover with them.
Si Taixu stood in front of the cave, looking back at the cave with a long sigh, "In the end, we are not worthy of this place."
Shi Feiyang thought about giving him some guidance, but swallowed his words at the last moment and said nothing.
Eventually, Si Taixu and the Dryder couple also left.
"Next, we need to properly renovate the Immortal Mansion."
Originally, Tian Dou and Ming He lived a relatively simple lifestyle, with only a simple layout of two caves and several chambers. Si Taixu and Wu Li did have the desire to redecorate, but both were so poor that with over twenty disciples, they couldn't even pull together a few decent Flying Swords. Although they expanded and modified the cavern, everything was very rudimentary.
Jiang Shu didn't have high demands for luxury, just a place for people to live without excessive opulence.
He planned to tidy up only slightly, but Shi Feiyang told him, "Leave this to me, I'll decide for you, brother."
Shi Feiyang directly unleashed fire, burning the entire cave inside and out for three days and nights, erasing all the original traces. Then he used Earth True Qi to cause the rocks to grow, filling up several unsatisfactory chambers, and then carved them again according to his own preferences.
In the original story, Zhu Mei recaptured Golden Whip Cliff, lived in one Immortal Mansion herself, and left one for Jiang Shu.
But this time, Shi Feiyang was helping Jiang Shu reclaim the place and did not plan to leave anything for Zhu Mei!
He named the two caves "Taiyin Cave" and "Heavenly Escape Cave."
Taiyin Cave was set as the foundational base of the Qingcheng Sect, with a style that was grand and fit the presence of a major Mysterious Sect.
Shi Feiyang took out a large piece of ten-thousand-year-old coral, placed it at the entrance of the cave as a screen, and directed Jiang Shu and Zhu Changyuan to carve the images of the twelve Yuan Chen divine generals on it, transforming it into a Magical Treasure that would also be the foundation of future protection of the True Method.
Inside the Taiyin Cave, a Taiyin Hall was constructed, nine zhang and nine chi wide, six zhang and six chi deep, and three zhang and three chi high. The floor was paved with yellow jade, with Five Elements Immortal Fire used to burn five-colored patterns into it, the walls adorned with green jade plates, also burned with three-dimensional mountain and river patterns. The dome was made of blue jade with patterns of the sun, moon, and dragon around the Five Stars. Using the essence of True Sun Fire, he created an Array in the form of a Sun Roulette that could be controlled with Mana to release varying intensities of sunlight as needed.
What Shi Feiyang was never short of on the Outer Heaven Divine Mountain were all sorts of beautiful jades; some entire mountains were made of jade. He picked out the best quality and collected them, storing them in the Heavenly Book Jade Box for future Talisman Refining and Treasure creation. Because there was so much jade, he collected entire mountains' worth of it. Now, he took it out to help his brother redecorate his new residence.
The hall's interior was the epitome of luxury, with balustrades of jade, incense burners of pure gold, and two large earth troughs carved from Crystal Jade embedded in the ground. Seeds of the trees and flowers from the Outer Heaven Divine Mountain were planted in them, watered with True Water, and quickened with Mana. In less than a month, they bloomed, forming large clusters the size of bowls, densely packed and fragrant throughout the hall, a sight rarely seen in Central Earth.
To the left of the main hall was a lavishly decorated parlor for receiving guests. To the right, a corridor led to ten chambers, all prepared as guest rooms for visitors to stay.
Behind the main hall was another large chamber, slightly smaller than the previous hall, destined to be where Jiang Shu would preach and teach his disciples in the future.
Several other chambers were connected to the rear cave, with an Alchemy Cave for Alchemy, a Sword Cave for Sword Refining, all with two or three zhang high Eight Diagrams Copper Furnaces. He also built thirty-six en suite chambers to accommodate future disciples, with one person per room for up to thirty-six, or two per room for up to seventy-two. The Mysterious Sect was very strict about accepting disciples. In the original story, Jiang Shu and Zhu Mei collectively only had nineteen disciples, so this was more than enough.
Another corridor led to the Heavenly Escape Cave in the south, which was Jiang Shu's own Cultivation space.
While the front of the Taiyin Cave was about lavish luxury, and the rear emphasized grandeur and majesty, the Heavenly Escape Cave focused on comfort and elegance. Each chamber was not very large and without excessive adornment of gold and jade, instead decorated with various fragrant woods. The Outer Heaven Divine Mountain had countless Divine Woods reaching dozens of zhang high, which Shi Feiyang also collected. Now, he took them out to make furniture for Jiang Shu – beds, tables, chairs, cupboards, and chests.
If Si Taixu and Wu Li saw this scene, they would turn unspeakably ugly with envy. All these woods and stones were suitable for Talisman and Magical Treasure creation! They had never seen anything like them before, let alone known that a fragment, ground into powder and made into incense, could be so beneficial during Cultivation!
Such wastefulness! Far too wasteful!
Even Jiang Shu felt it was too much and, while helping, said, "This green jade could be used to make a Spirit Talisman that carries Taiyin Divine Thunder! This wood has a concentrating and soul-gathering effect, and if it were made into a Magical Treasure, it could forcibly snatch someone's Soul. I don't even know the name of this one, and this Five-Colored Treasure Bead, all could be used to host a Second Primordial Spirit... I don't know how much effort you took to collect them, and here they are just decorations in the cave. It's really too much of a pity."
Shi Feiyang, not the least bit distressed, used the Three Yangs One Qi Sword to cut the wood into suitable pieces, casually answering, "What's there to be pitiful about? Where I come from, mountains of jades, forests of Divine Woods, piles of Treasure Beads, seas of fragrant waters – any random mountain moved from there would be bigger than your entire Qingcheng Mountain!"
